White Sox | Melky Cabrera hits grand slam

Sat, 28 May 2016 05:09:09 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI against the Kansas City Royals Friday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has hit a home run in each of the last two games and has six RBI during that span. He is hitting .309 this month and should be a fine starting option in most leagues.

White Sox | Melky Cabrera in two-hole

Thu, 26 May 2016 14:44:05 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera is hitting second against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Thursday, May 26. As a result, SS Jimmy Rollins moves down to seventh in the lineup against a left-hander.

Fantasy Tip: The Melk Man continues to put the ball in play often for a high average (.294). However, he has no home runs against left-handers from the right side and has less power in that setup. He's still not a bad option for your lineups, but temper expectations tonight. Rollins is a very low-end shortstop option in daily formats against the southpaw.

White Sox | Melky Cabrera goes deep

Wed, 25 May 2016 20:31:10 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has been performing well at the plate this month and has one home run and 13 RBI during that span. Cabrera is not a great option for owners looking for power, but he should be a fine starter in most leagues.

White Sox | Melky Cabrera hits third long fly

Wed, 25 May 2016 15:54:43 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during the White Sox's 4-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera's numbers don't jump off the page, but he has modest four-category production with 78 runs, three home runs, 20 RBI and a .294/.362/.417 slash line. There is room for more pop, too, and as long as Cabrera continues to hit in the heart of the order, he'll be a viable starting outfielder in deep mixed leagues.

White Sox | Jimmy Rollins takes a seat

Fri, 20 May 2016 12:29:25 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Jimmy Rollins is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 20. SS Tyler Saladino is starting at shortstop and is hitting ninth against Kansas City Royals SP Dillon Gee. 1B Jose Abreu is in the two-hole, 3B Todd Frazier is hitting third and OF Melky Cabrera draws a spot in the cleanup role.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino doesn't do much at the plate and his spot at the bottom of the order makes him even less attractive to those in daily games. You can find better options at the 6 on this full slate of games. The other White Sox hitters are all recommended against Gee.

White Sox | Big evening for Melky Cabrera

Fri, 06 May 2016 22:24:39 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera went 4-for-5 with a run scored and three RBIs Friday, May 6, against the Minnesota Twins to push his average to .315.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has three multi-hit efforts in five games during the month of May, raising his average from .278 to .315 just since April 30. He is a streak hitter who is either mired in the doldrums or riding high, which can irritate fantasy owners. Right now, his fantasy owners are smiling.

White Sox | Three CWS regulars sitting Sunday

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 09:35:21 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera, C Alex Avila and SS Jimmy Rollins are out of the starting lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday, April 17. OF Jerry Sands will bat fifth and serve as the designated hitter, C Dioner Navarro will bat eighth and SS Tyler Saladino will bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino and Sands are a combined 5-for-14 at the dish with one home run and four RBI, making them worthy of consideration as inexpensive fliers for daily games. Navarro is 1-for-16 and should be avoided in all formats during this ice-cold stretch.

White Sox | Jimmy Rollins sitting out

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 07:59:48 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Jimmy Rollins is out of the lineup Thursday, April 14, with OF Melky Cabrera sliding up to hit second.

Fantasy Tip: Tyler Saladino is hitting ninth against Ervin Santana, and he's not much of a one-day flyer at shortstop. Cabrera is off to a .300 start and has some DFS upside hitting ahead of Jose Abreu.

White Sox | Austin Jackson with day off

Thu, 07 Apr 2016 09:56:15 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 7. OF J.B. Shuck gets a start in left field and is hitting sixth against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman. Also, OF Melky Cabrera is serving as the designated hitter and is in the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Shuck is a dice roll as a cheap flier in daily games today with Graveman starting after dealing with the flu earlier this week. Cabrera is off to another slow start after the first two games, but he gains some intrigue with a move up the lineup.

White Sox | Avisail Garcia on the block?

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 09:45:53 -0800

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia is available in a trade this winter, and the White Sox have entertained offers for him this month, according to major league sources. However, Chicago remains optimistic on him after he hit .257/.309/.365 with 13 home runs and 59 RBI in 601 plate appearances in 2015. But the White Sox have more options around Garcia, namely OFs Melky Cabrera and Trayce Thompson. Garcia struck out 54 times and had only eight walks from June 9 to Aug. 3 last year. Garcia is also a below-average defender in the outfield.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia is still only 24 years old, so he has plenty of upside left, it just may not come with the White Sox as they look to upgrade other parts of their roster. Chicago is an ideal location for a hitter, though, so if he remains with the Pale Hose, he could easily improve on his power and average if he can be more consistent with his command of the strike zone. He's one to watch as a value pick in fantasy drafts in 2016.
