Yankees | Chase Headley a priority in NY

Mon, 10 Nov 2014 11:20:31 -0800

Free-agent 3B Chase Headley (Yankees) is a high priority for the team this year, despite the impending return of 3B Alex Rodriguez. The Yankees don't think Rodriguez will be able to play third base on a daily basis next season, according to a source. Headley played in 58 games for the Yankees this year after being acquired in a midseason trade. The source said the Yanks "are looking at Headley to start at third, play some DH, and back up (the oft-injured) Mark Teixeira at first base."

Yankees | Mark Teixeira hopes to avoid DL

Sat, 09 Aug 2014 07:20:23 -0700

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (finger) said he tried to hit off a tee Saturday, Aug. 9, and it was very painful, but he hopes that he will not need to be placed on the 15-day disabled list. He indicated his finger is about 50 percent at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Even though he hopes to avoid the disabled list, there is a chance he is placed on it if he does not improve over the next few days. Chase Headley could play first base if Teixeira is out of the lineup and should be owned in all AL-only leagues and could be an option in mixed leagues.
