Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds CL Aroldis Chapman (hamstring) tweaked his hamstring injury in the All-Star Game covering first base. Chapman said he was fine and isn't 100 percent ready to run. "I will be fine," Chapman said. "I've been pitching through it for a while. As long as I don't have to run, it feels good to pitch."
Fantasy Tip: We don't expect this to hinder him too much because his results have been phenomenal of late. However, it's something to be cautious of moving forward. Jonathan Broxton should be handcuffed to him if possible.

Cincinnati Reds CL Aroldis Chapman (hamstring) was unavailable Sunday, July 6, due to a hamstring tweak. Manager Bryan Price said he hopes Chapman will be available Monday, July 7. RP Jonathan Broxton picked up the save Sunday.
Fantasy Tip: It sounds minor, so Chapman should be safe to start in weekly leagues.

Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman (face) could return from the disabled list Friday, May 9. However, manager Bryan Price was non-committal about Chapman's return after the closer had two rough rehab outings with Triple-A Louisville this week. C Corky Miller, who caught Chapman at Louisville, didn't seem too concerned about Chapman being ready to return to the majors. RP Jonathan Broxton is 5-for-5 in save opportunities with Chapman out, but getting Chapman back will allow the team to slide Broxton back into a setup role.
Fantasy Tip: Broxton may be used in save situations if the Reds choose to ease Chapman back into the role. Hang onto Broxton if you must in very deep leagues, but cutting him for a more useful player is understandable when Chapman is back.

Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman (face) will likely throw live batting practice Wednesday, April 23, after throwing a 45-pitch bullpen session Sunday, April 20. Chapman will begin a rehab assignment after throwing batting practice.
Fantasy Tip: Chapman should be able to return to the team shortly after his rehab assignment. Jonathan Broxton will lose most of his value when Chapman returns, as Chapman is expected to return immediately to the closing role.

Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price confirmed that RP Jonathan Broxton will continue to see most of the save opportunities until RP Aroldis Chapman (face) returns. "If you have somebody that's cemented into that role -- it doesn't mean he'll get every save opportunity -- but it does allow me to look at the game for eight innings," Price said. "It gets convoluted when you're going to go 'OK, let's get to the ninth and see what's left and pick your option from that spot.'"
Fantasy Tip: Chapman may not be back for another month, so Broxton owners will have some time to make use of his short-term ninth-inning duties.

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price said Tuesday, April 8, that RP Jonathan Broxton (forearm) will not close in his first appearance since coming off the 15-day disabled list. "I'd like to get him in a game, pitch an inning and get his feet (wet). Inevitably, he will be our closer," Price said.
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners will want to hold off using Broxton until he is officially plugged back in as closer. Until then, he is useful only in deep rotisserie formats for help in the ERA and WHIP categories. Expect Broxton to be in the closer's role sooner rather than later, though.

The Cincinnati Reds activated RP Jonathan Broxton (forearm) from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, April 8, and placed RP Trevor Bell (elbow) on the DL with right elbow inflammation in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Broxton should now be owned in all leagues, as he'll likely receive the first shot to lock down saves in the ninth inning with Aroldis Chapman (face) out. J.J. Hoover loses his value in most mixed leagues.

Cincinnati Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said RP Jonathan Broxton (forearm) will be activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, April 8.

Cincinnati Reds RP Jonathan Broxton (forearm) struck out two and hit a batter in a scoreless rehab outing Friday, April 4. Eleven of his 19 pitches went for strikes.
Fantasy Tip: Broxton could be back with the team and closing by the end of next week. Add him to your roster and stash him in a DL spot if you're looking for more save opps.

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds RPs J.J. Hoover, Logan Ondrusek, Manny Parra and Sam LeCure are all closing possibilities until RP Jonathan Broxton (forearm) returns from the disabled list next week. Manager Bryan Price seems to indicate that Broxton is the favorite to close when he returns. "I'm not to the point where I'm going to designate a guy. We anticipate Broxton being back relatively quickly. We know all of those pitchers I mentioned have a history in this league. If we can match them up as best as possible until we're able to get a guy like Broxton, who's been a closer, back. He'll be the guy who holds down the fort until Aroldis Chapman comes back," Price said.
Fantasy Tip: It's pretty clear that Broxton is the favorite for the primary closing duties when he's healthy, leaving the other options as setup men based on matchups. Grab Broxton now if you are in need of more saves options.
