Dodgers | Monday Dodgers lineup light

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 07:04:01 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SS Corey Seager, 1B Adrian Gonzalez, 2B Chase Utley, OF Joc Pederson and C Yasmani Grandal are out of the lineup Monday, June 27. OF Enrique Hernandez is leading off, OF Trayce Thompson is hitting third, 1B Scott Van Slyke is hitting sixth, C A.J. Ellis hit seventh and SS Chris Taylor hits eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson has struggled this month, but he has upside in the three-hole against Francisco Liriano. Hernandez and Van Slyke are worth low-end consideration against the lefty. Ellis and Taylor don't move the needle much.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez out Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 13:52:44 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez is not in the starting lineup Sunday, June 26. 1B Scott Van Slyke is in the lineup and batting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Chad Kuhl.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a normal night off, as Gonzalez hasn't been out of the starting lineup all week. Van Slyke has minimal at-bats and low fantasy value as a result, and it is best to stay away.

Dodgers | Four Dodgers take a seat

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 14:52:27 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Chase Utley, OF Joc Pederson, C Yasmani Grandal and 2B Howie Kendrick are out of the lineup Saturday, June 25. 2B Enrique Hernandez is leading off, OF Trayce Thompson is hitting cleanup, OF Scott Van Slyke hits seventh and C A.J. Ellis is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez is hitting just .195, but most of his power comes against lefties. He and Van Slyke are low-end flyers against lefty Jeff Locke. Thompson has cooled way off, but he has upside hitting cleanup. Ellis isn't worth a DFS flyer today.

Dodgers | Scott Van Slyke cracks first homer

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 16:10:43 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Scott Van Slyke went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer Wednesday, June 15, versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. It was his first home run of the season. He also added a double.

Fantasy Tip: Although Van Slyke has been scuffling since returning from injury, it looks like he's finally getting settled in, as that gives him four hits over his last three games. That might not sound like much, but he did enter this afternoon's bout with a putrid .130 batting average. However, Van Slyke is really only someone to consider in daily games when he's starting against a lefty, as was the case today opposite Patrick Corbin.

Dodgers | Three Dodgers regulars sitting out

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 10:30:32 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Chase Utley, OF Joc Pederson and C Yasmani Grandal are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks left-handed SP Patrick Corbin Wednesday, June 15. 2B Howie Kendrick is at second base and is hitting sixth, OF Scott Van Slyke is starting in right field and batting seventh and C A.J. Ellis is catching and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Kendrick and Van Slyke don't move the fantasy needle all that much but could be successful value plays in DFS if you're looking to save a little salary cap space against the lefty. Ellis is a light-hitting catcher that should be ignored.

Dodgers | Howie Kendrick sitting Monday

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 14:49:46 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Howie Kendrick is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 13. OF Scott Van Slyke is starting in left field and is batting eighth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke.

Fantasy Tip: Van Slyke recently came off the DL and has just one hit (a double) in 18 at-bats this year (.056 average). You should look for better daily options, especially since Grienke, who is looking more like the 2015 version of late.

Dodgers | Scott Van Slyke activated

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 18:42:24 -0700

Updating a previous report, the Los Angeles Dodgers have activated OF Scott Van Slyke (back) from the 15-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Van Slyke had been sidelined since mid-April due to tightness in his lower back. He should not be viewed as a great fantasy option outside of daily contests on days when the club is facing a left-handed starting pitcher.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig a DL candidate

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 16:05:04 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is a candidate to go on the disabled list. Manager Dave Roberts said OF Scott Van Slyke (back) could come off the DL Saturday, June 4, or Sunday, June 5.

Fantasy Tip: Puig went on the DL last year with the same injury to the same leg, so start planning now for that possibility. Puig has intriguing power and speed, but frequent mental lapses and inconsistency have frustrated his owners in 2016. Keep him stashed everywhere for now but you should've already been looking for replacements. Van Slyke would likely only be outfield depth for the Dodgers.

Dodgers | Scott Van Slyke still weeks away

Wed, 11 May 2016 16:44:41 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Scott Van Slyke (back) is still two to three weeks away from a rehab assignment.

Fantasy Tip: Van Slyke hasn't played since April 9 and it looks like it will be awhile before he can return to big league action. Even when he's back with the Dodgers, though, he's not really someone to consider in just about all formats, considering the club's current outfield situation. He's really only a potential option in daily games when he's starting opposite a left-handed pitcher.

Dodgers | Scott Van Slyke rehab update

Wed, 04 May 2016 17:06:40 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Scott Van Slyke (back) won't be able to return to action for at least another month in a best-case scenario, according to manager Dave Roberts. He has been doing exercises to strengthen his core muscles but hasn't been cleared to resume baseball activity.

Fantasy Tip: If all goes well, Van Slyke could return to action in early June. The 29-year-old outfielder is a solid option in daily and NL-only fantasy leagues versus southpaws when healthy.
