Fri, 21 Feb 2014 12:15:31 -0800

The Boston Red Sox see SP Chris Capuano pitching out of the bullpen this season. "Experience of both starting and pitching out of the bullpen. Clearly gives us a depth starter if that need were to arise," manager John Farrell said. "But at the moment, all things considered, he would pitch out of the bullpen for us." RPs Craig Breslow and Andrew Miller are the other lefties in the bullpen.

Red Sox | Andrew Bailey to DL

Mon, 06 May 2013 12:40:06 -0700

The Boston Red Sox placed RP Andrew Bailey (biceps) on the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 6, and activated RP Craig Breslow (shoulder) from the DL in a corresponding move. Bailey was having soreness in his right biceps and underwent an MRI exam Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Joel Hanrahan, who had been relegated to the eighth-inning setup role when he returned from a DL stint of his own last week, will serve as the closer with Bailey sidelined. Hanrahan may have been cut by his owner when Farrell declared him the setup man last week. If so, scoop him up immediately.

Bailey's biceps injury didn't seem to be too serious, but the team was taking a cautious route. However, given his extensive injury history, a quick recovery is far from certain. For that reason, Hanrahan needs to be owned everywhere, even if Bailey returns quickly and resumes the role of closer. If Bailey misses extensive time, Koji Uehara may also steal at least a few opportunities, given Hanrahan's shaky skills.
