Fantasy Tip: Neither catcher is very intriguing as a backup catcher in an AL-only league, but Hanigan probably has slightly more upside with the stick. However, if playing time is split evenly, neither is probably worth a selection.

The Cincinnati Reds traded C Ryan Hanigan to the Tampa Bay Rays Tuesday, Dec. 3, in exchange for P David Holmberg in a three-team deal that also included the Arizona Diamondbacks. He'll make $2.75 million in 2014, $3.5 million in 2015 and $3.7 million in 2016, and he has a $3.75 million option with an $800,000 buyout for the 2017 season.
