Sun, 28 Jun 2015 12:04:49 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Chris Iannetta is back in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez Sunday, June 28, batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Iannetta ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has only two hits in 24 lifetime at-bats against Hernandez and is batting just .186 for the season. Look elsewhere for FantasyScore catching options today.

Angels | Chris Iannetta catching Sunday

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 12:06:43 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Chris Iannetta is in the starting lineup against the Oakland Athletics Sunday, June 14. C Carlos Perez is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: As if it wasn't bad enough that Iannetta ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) was only hitting .164 through 122 at-bats this season, he's also facing Sonny Gray this afternoon. Avoid using Iannetta at all costs in FantasyScore.

Angels | Chris Iannetta resting

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 14:53:37 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Chris Iannetta is resting Saturday, June 6, against the New York Yankees. C Carlos Perez will start at catcher and hit seventh in the order against RHP Adam Warren.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) had multiple hits in four of his last five starts. Perez makes for an excellent FantasyScore option, with a very modest price tag.

Angels | Chris Iannetta sitting out

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 16:26:00 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Chris Iannetta is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 1. C Carlos Perez will take his place in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Iannetta ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return soon. Perez ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is hitting .286 with two home runs and 10 RBI since being recalled and could be a cheaper option to consider on FantasyScore.

Angels | Chris Iannetta serving as DH

Wed, 27 May 2015 15:14:59 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Chris Iannetta is serving as the designated hitter and hitting seventh in the batting order against San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner Wednesday, May 27. 1B Marc Krauss is starting on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Iannetta ($2,300, 4.6% of cap), despite recently breaking a long slump, is still hitting only .161 (15-for-93) on the season, with two home runs and nine RBI. There's nothing that says to trust Iannetta against Cashner, who has been solid despite nothing to show for it in the win column in 2015.

Angels | Chris Iannetta draws into lineup

Tue, 26 May 2015 16:57:14 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Chris Iannetta will start at catcher and bat eighth in the order Tuesday, May 26, against the San Diego Padres.

Fantasy Tip: Iannetta ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is just 1-for-11 since his four-game hitting streak ended. Iannetta hit a three-run homer in his second-last game but it was his only hit in three outings. FantasyScore owners can consider Iannetta for GPP tournaments, as he goes up against Odrisamer Despaigne of the Padres.

Angels | Chris Iannetta breaks out in loss

Mon, 18 May 2015 15:38:02 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Chris Iannetta went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a solo home run, two runs and two RBI Monday, May 18, to raise his average to .156.

Fantasy Tip: Iannetta ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) was hitting just .123 (9-for-73) before the offensive onslaught Monday. He'll likely continue to split playing time with Carlos Perez, though, limiting his fantasy value. Iannetta remains a low-end FantasyScore catcher, but if this performance awakens him at the plate, he could be a sleeper play.

Angels | Chris Iannetta starting Saturday

Sat, 16 May 2015 13:41:35 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Chris Iannetta will start behind the plate Saturday, May 16, against the Baltimore Orioles. C Carlos Perez will be given the night off.

Fantasy Tip: Iannetta ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has just seven hits through 79 plate appearances to begin the season and he has been striking out at a putrid 31.6% clip. Iannetta's lone multi-hit game came April 14, against the Texas Rangers. Perez has all but taken over every-day catcher duties, and Iannetta won't deserve much consideration whenever he draws the start.

Angels | Carlos Perez Halos' everyday catcher?

Thu, 14 May 2015 10:49:28 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Carlos Perez has effectively become the team's starting catcher over C Chris Iannetta, although manager Mike Scioscia won't admit it. Perez has started six of the team's last eight games at catcher and has six hits in his first 18 at-bats in the majors. "Any time a player plays well, you're going to earn more playing time," Scioscia said. "That's what Carlos has shown."

Fantasy Tip: With Iannetta ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) hitting an embarrassing .101 (7-for-69) with 25 strikeouts, Perez ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) should continue to see the majority of starts behind the dish. However, don't let the quick start to Perez's major league career fool you into thinking he's anything more than a low-end catcher matchup play at FantasyScore.

Angels | Carlos Perez pushing for No. 1

Thu, 07 May 2015 07:46:50 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Carlos Perez started for the second straight night Wednesday, May 6. If Perez plays again Thursday, May 7, he has become the team's No. 1 catcher over C Chris Iannetta, in the opinion of The Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher. "We're going to need them both, so whatever it turns out to be, it turns out to be," manager Mike Scioscia said. "Obviously when a guy plays well, you can earn more playing time."

Fantasy Tip: Perez hit .361 in 17 games at Class AAA this season and would become a matchup play on FantasyScore if he earns even a 50-50 split.
