Braves | Jim Johnson records save Friday

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 19:43:29 -0700

Atlanta Braves RP Jim Johnson recorded his fifth save of the season against the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, July 3. He allowed two hits in one scoreless inning of work.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson appeared in a save situation Friday because CL Jason Grilli had pitched in each of the team's previous two games. Johnson is worth keeping in NL-only and deeper mixed fantasy leagues that use the holds category and would become Atlanta's full-time closer if Grilli were to get injured.

Braves | Jim Johnson notches 13th hold

Thu, 28 May 2015 17:56:13 -0700

Atlanta Braves RP Jim Johnson picked up his 13th hold of the season Wednesday, May 27. Johnson is one shy of the MLB lead, held by San Francisco Giants RP Sergio Romo.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is a must own in leagues with the holds category. Johnson is also worth grabbing in deeper standard leagues, as he'll be in line for the Braves' closer job if anything were to happen to Jason Grilli.

Mon, 11 May 2015 23:43:17 -0700

Atlanta Braves RP Jim Johnson filled in for RP Jason Grilli (back) to notch the save Monday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: Grilli should be ready to return in the near future, but Johnson appears to have leapfrogged Cody Martin in the pecking order. Johnson could have value in the next couple of days if you're save speculating.

Braves | Two possible closers in ATL

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 08:13:55 -0700

Atlanta Braves RPs Jim Johnson and Jason Grilli could close games, according to general manager John Hart. Hart also said Juan Jaime could close games eventually as well.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like a committee is brewing up, and Johnson and Grilli should both be owned in traditional leagues. Both have had success, both have had recent flameouts.
