Twins | Ricky Nolasco's status up in the air

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 10:18:43 -0700

Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan said it's too early to determine whether SP Ricky Nolasco (ankle) will be able to pitch again later this season. He is expected to be fitted with a walking boot soon after doing some rehab work with assistant athletic trainer and rehab coordinator Lanning Tucker. The team won't know his status for the remainder of the season until after he has the boot removed, which will be several weeks away.

Fantasy Tip: Nolasco ($3,200, 6.4% of cap), who underwent right ankle surgery earlier this week, was 5-1 with a 5.51 ERA in seven starts this year. He can be dropped in all fantasy formats despite the glimmer of hope for his return, based on his struggles over the last two seasons for Minnesota.

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 17:18:54 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ricky Nolasco (ankle) will have ankle surgery Monday, July 6. There is no timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain when Nolasco will be able to pitch, but with ankles and lower legs essential to a pitcher's success, it wouldn't be shocking to see Nolasco done for this season. FantasyScore owners should take him off of their radars.

Twins | Ricky Nolasco looking for another opinion

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 14:04:01 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ricky Nolasco (ankle) is set to receive another opinion on his injured left ankle, according to manager Paul Molitor.

Fantasy Tip: Nolasco ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has a 5.40 ERA, a 1.54 WHIP and 6.7 K/9 over his last 34 starts. Those aren't the statistics fantasy owners are looking for, in any format. Twins | Ricky Nolasco to see specialist

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 16:27:58 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ricky Nolasco (ankle) will see a specialist, but the organization does not think he will require surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Over his last 34 starts, Nolasco ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has a 5.40 ERA, a 1.54 WHIP and 6.7 K/9. Those numbers don't float in any fantasy format, and Nolasco should only be spot started in the most favorable of matchups. Continue to check back for updates.

Twins | Ricky Nolasco won't undergo surgery

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 17:11:03 -0700

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins SP Ricky Nolasco (ankle) will receive a cortisone injection in his right ankle, according to general manager Terry Ryan. Surgery is not being considered as an option at this point.

Fantasy Tip: It is unclear how much time Nolasco ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will miss. For the time being, Tommy Milone ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) will be in the starting rotation while Nolasco is sidelined but he is only worthy of consideration in deep AL-only leagues.

Twins | Ricky Nolasco may need injection

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 15:40:03 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ricky Nolasco (ankle) had a CAT scan on his ankle reveal that his current injury is related to an old injury. One option for treatment will be a cortisone injection.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how long Nolasco will be out of action on the DL. He's worth holding in AL-only leagues after the way he bounced back after his first DL stint this year. Tommy Milone, who has entered the rotation temporarily, is a weak FantasyScore play and only valuable to those desperate for starting arms in AL leagues.

Twins | Ricky Nolasco put on 15-day DL

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 18:15:50 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ricky Nolasco (ankle) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, June 4, due to an injured right ankle. The decision was made after Nolasco threw a short side session Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Nolasco ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) doesn't hold much fantasy value when healthy, and he holds even less now. Nolasco can rarely be used in stream situations when he gets back to 100% health.

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 07:19:14 -0700
