Indians | Brandon Moss resting vs. lefty

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 11:30:05 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Brandon Moss is not in the starting lineup Monday, April 27. OF Jerry Sands is starting in right field and hitting sixth in the batting order against Kansas City Royals left-handed SP Jason Vargas.

Fantasy Tip: Sands ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has eight hits in 21 at-bats this year, but he last recorded a knock April 22 and hasn't started a game since a week ago, as he's been relegated to a bench role. Consider him a low-end outfield option with pop at FantasyScore.

Indians | Big night for Brandon Moss

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 20:31:32 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Brandon Moss went 3-for-5 with two home runs, seven RBIs and two runs scored in a 13-1 win over the Detroit Tigers Friday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: Moss ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) isn't going to win a batting title any time soon, but seven of his nine hits this season have been for extra bases, including three homers. He is a high-risk, high-reward option at FantasyScore, and he should be exclusively used against right-handed starters.

Indians | Brandon Moss out against lefty

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 13:45:42 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Brandon Moss is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP John Danks Monday, April 20. OF Jerry Sands is starting in right field and hitting sixth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Sands ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has filled in nicely for the Tribe in the early going, hitting .389 (7-for-18) with four RBI. He hits particularly well against left-handers in his career, too, going 32-for-103 (.311) with four of his five career major league homers. Consider him a sneaky sleeper pick at FantasyScore this evening against the struggling Danks.

Indians | Brandon Moss sitting Wednesday

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 07:01:34 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Brandon Moss is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 15.

Fantasy Tip: Mike Aviles ($2,000, 4.0% of your cap) is filling in against John Danks. Despite the good matchup, Aviles doesn't have a lot of daily value. Aviles is a very low-end shortstop option on FantasyScore.

Indians | Brandon Moss past his injury

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 14:35:17 -0700

Cleveland Indians 1B Brandon Moss (hip) is to the point where manager Terry Francona isn't even thinking about Moss' injury after a return from right hip surgery last October. "He's done a fantastic job of getting ready. That's probably been a non-issue, which is kind of amazing when you think about it," Francona said.

Fantasy Tip: Moss ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is an under-the-radar source of power in fantasy drafts, and he's also eligible at multiple positions, making him even more valuable. Moss has hit at least 21 home runs in each of the past three seasons. Don't overlook him as you reach the middle rounds of drafts as a reliable source of power.

Indians | Brandon Moss will see time at first

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 13:39:10 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF/DH Brandon Moss will make an appearance at first base before the end of spring training, according to manager Terry Francona. He has played the outfield and served as the designated hitter thus far.

Fantasy Tip: Moss ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) remains an excellent power target in the late middle rounds of drafts. He has averaged over 25 home runs per year over the past three seasons, including 30 in 2013, and last season's second-half slide can be chalked up to a hip injury he has recovered from. There should be huge profit potential, if Moss falls far enough on draft day. He is a worthy FantasyScore play when facing a favorable right-handed pitching matchup, too.

Indians | Brandon Moss feeling great

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 15:49:52 -0700

Cleveland Indians 1B Brandon Moss (hip) is feeling very good this spring after having surgery in October on his right hip. The Indians have been very pleased with Moss' progress this spring after trading for him this offseason. Moss projects to bat fifth in the team's lineup, and he hopes to play in back-to-back spring games soon. "Swinging and running and everything else, it feels pretty normal," Moss said. "I feel like it's a normal spring. It's just getting used to the workload now."

Fantasy Tip: Moss is a fantasy asset that most drafters often overlook. He's hit at least 21 home runs in each of the last three seasons at O.co Coliseum (a heavy pitcher's park), and now he's moving to a much better hitting environment. It's not often you have a chance to select such a stable commodity in the later rounds of drafts.

Indians | Brandon Moss to debut Monday

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 15:29:06 -0700

Cleveland Indians 1B Brandon Moss (hip) will make his Indians debut on Monday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: Moss finally feels good enough to play and it will be interesting to see what he can do. Moss projects as a mid to late-round selection in most leagues, depending on how much power he ends up having in that park.

Indians | Brandon Moss closing in on playing?

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 12:39:04 -0800

Cleveland Indians 1B Brandon Moss (hip) could be slightly ahead of his mid-March timeline for game action, according to manager Terry Francona.

Fantasy Tip: With power down across baseball, Moss carries additional value in fantasy leagues. He has averaged over 25 home runs per year over the past three seasons, including 30 in 2013. He'll likely slide lower in the middle rounds than he should during drafts due to his disastrous second half last season. However, his hip surgery hopefully took care of the main culprit. There should be huge profit potential, if Moss falls far enough on draft day.

Indians | Brandon Moss takes batting practice

Wed, 25 Feb 2015 12:33:25 -0800

Cleveland Indians 1B Brandon Moss (hip) participated in batting practice Wednesday, Feb. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Moss likely will take some time during spring training to prepare for the regular season. His eligibility at first base and as an outfielder should help his value, and he should be an option in the middle rounds of mixed leagues because of his power potential.
