Detroit Lions RB Mikel Leshoure is currently believed to be the fourth tailback on the club behind RBs Reggie Bush, Joique Bell and Theo Riddick heading into training camp and the preseason, but general manager Martin Mayhew expects Leshoure to compete for snaps. The team will use an offense similar to the New Orleans Saints, and they occasionally used a fourth tailback.
Fantasy Tip: Leshoure has tumbled down the depth chart due to a rash of his own injuries, and the production of others while he was off the field. He appears to be in the plans still, but ever so slightly. From a fantasy perspective, he should be avoided on draft day unless injuries to others dramatically alter things during training camp and the preseason.

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush indicated he believes RB Theo Riddick will have a role in the offense this upcoming season because he is hard to cover in passing game. Riddick could receive more snaps this season, because offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi could use Riddick like RB Darren Sproles was used with the New Orleans Saints.

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush has no plans to be considered for kick or punt returns in 2014. "As of right now, no," Bush said. "And hopefully, no. I'd like to think I graduated from returning kicks and punts," Bush said. WR Jeremy Ross will continue to be the man for kick and punt returns.
Fantasy Tip: It's probably best that Bush stick to running back duties to preserve his body for the long haul in a new offense that he could see a lot of action in.

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush would like to extend his playing career past the 2016 season, and he would like to retire in Detroit if at all possible. "I don't want to bounce around from city to city, from team to team. I think I have something good going here, have been really getting to know the city over the past year and just really looking forward to bringing a championship here someday and making history," Bush said.
Fantasy Tip: While Bush may see his workload decrease a bit with Joique Bell, a hometown product from Wayne State, getting carries, it is not out of the question Bush could have a few productive seasons left. Provided he doesn't come down with fumble-itis, he's worth consideration.

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said RBs Reggie Bush and Joique Bell likely will receive similar workloads this upcoming season than they did during the 2013 season. Bush played 54 percent of the offensive snaps in 2013 while Bell participated in 49 percent of the snaps.
Fantasy Tip: Bush and Bell likely will be offensive factors in 2014 as long as they are able to stay healthy. Both could be considered No. 2 or No. 3 running backs for owners this upcoming season based on the matchup.

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he is fine with a potentially smaller workload in 2014. RB Joique Bell is expected to cut into Bush's workload more this season.
Fantasy Tip: Bush's value could begin to plummet this season at the age of 29. He still remains a good RB2 in PPR leagues, but Bell is starting to emerge. He's a good RB3 with potential for more.

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he talked with general manager Martin Mayhew and president Tom Lewand about keeping running backs coach Curtis Modkins on the coaching staff. Head coach Jim Caldwell has kept Modkins on the coaching staff.

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he is feeling good and hopes to be able to play at least five more seasons in the NFL.

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell, a restricted free agent, might push RB Reggie Bush for the starting job in 2014 if he is re-signed. "I have no question he could start," former offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said Friday, Jan. 10. "He's a guy that can handle a pretty heavy load. The thing about him is he has versatility to do that. He can be in the role we have him now (or he can) start a game. He's a guy that can go out there and get 100 yards for you running the football as well as produce in the passing game."
Fantasy Tip: Bell is an interesting fantasy option to watch for 2014. If he returns to Detroit, he could be a player to watch. However, Detroit's offense will change with a new regime, so there is a lot of uncertainty until the team hires a staff and gets back onto the field in the spring.
Sun, 29 Dec 2013 17:15:21 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush is the first Lions running back to go over 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a season since RB Billy Sims back in 1980.
Fantasy Tip: Bush carried 14 times for 32 yards in the Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings, and he added five receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown.
