Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush will probably sit out the team's preseason finale Thursday, Aug. 28, as head coach Jim Caldwell plans to give his veterans some extra rest.
Fantasy Tip: Bush should be a big part of Detroit's rushing and passing attacks this year, making him a solid option as an RB2 in all formats with the potential to be a high-end RB2 in PPR leagues.
Mon, 25 Aug 2014 12:29:48 -0700
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (undisclosed) did not practice Monday, Aug. 25.
Fantasy Tip: There was no indication that Bush is injured. This could just be precautionary. Bush remains an RB2 option with more upside in PPR leagues.
Tue, 05 Aug 2014 20:21:21 -0700
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush ran routes with the receivers during individual drills Tuesday, Aug. 5.
Fantasy Tip: Bush ran 88 total routes last season from either the slot or out wide, and that total could increase this year in the team's new offense. He is a valuable back in any format, but he is a borderline RB1 in PPR leagues.
Mon, 04 Aug 2014 23:22:01 -0700
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush is 29 years old and about to enter his ninth NFL season, but he does not feel old and wants to play many more years. "I don't want to put a timetable on it because I don't know," Bush said. "I don't know if it's five (years), four, three, six. I'm not sure. But I know if I get to 15 that'll be a blessing." The coaching staff has done a careful job of managing his repetitions, with several other viable running backs to help shoulder the load, according to running backs coach Curtis Modkins.
Fantasy Tip: Playing six more years in the NFL might be a stretch, but Bush could see his career extended because of his receiving skills. The veteran back may have a spot in the NFL as a situational player beyond his current deal, which has him under contract through the 2016 season. Value Bush as a low-end RB1 in deep PPR leagues, but he is a much better second back in 2014.
Wed, 23 Jul 2014 19:18:56 -0700
Detroit Lions RB Mikel Leshoure is currently believed to be the fourth tailback on the club behind RBs Reggie Bush, Joique Bell and Theo Riddick heading into training camp and the preseason, but general manager Martin Mayhew expects Leshoure to compete for snaps. The team will use an offense similar to the New Orleans Saints, and they occasionally used a fourth tailback.
Fantasy Tip: Leshoure has tumbled down the depth chart due to a rash of his own injuries, and the production of others while he was off the field. He appears to be in the plans still, but ever so slightly. From a fantasy perspective, he should be avoided on draft day unless injuries to others dramatically alter things during training camp and the preseason.
Mon, 09 Jun 2014 12:03:12 -0700
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush indicated he believes RB Theo Riddick will have a role in the offense this upcoming season because he is hard to cover in passing game. Riddick could receive more snaps this season, because offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi could use Riddick like RB Darren Sproles was used with the New Orleans Saints.
Mon, 09 Jun 2014 09:40:22 -0700
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush has no plans to be considered for kick or punt returns in 2014. "As of right now, no," Bush said. "And hopefully, no. I'd like to think I graduated from returning kicks and punts," Bush said. WR Jeremy Ross will continue to be the man for kick and punt returns.
Fantasy Tip: It's probably best that Bush stick to running back duties to preserve his body for the long haul in a new offense that he could see a lot of action in.
Thu, 22 May 2014 23:07:32 -0700
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush would like to extend his playing career past the 2016 season, and he would like to retire in Detroit if at all possible. "I don't want to bounce around from city to city, from team to team. I think I have something good going here, have been really getting to know the city over the past year and just really looking forward to bringing a championship here someday and making history," Bush said.
Fantasy Tip: While Bush may see his workload decrease a bit with Joique Bell, a hometown product from Wayne State, getting carries, it is not out of the question Bush could have a few productive seasons left. Provided he doesn't come down with fumble-itis, he's worth consideration.
Wed, 16 Apr 2014 11:08:17 -0700
Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said RBs Reggie Bush and Joique Bell likely will receive similar workloads this upcoming season than they did during the 2013 season. Bush played 54 percent of the offensive snaps in 2013 while Bell participated in 49 percent of the snaps.
Fantasy Tip: Bush and Bell likely will be offensive factors in 2014 as long as they are able to stay healthy. Both could be considered No. 2 or No. 3 running backs for owners this upcoming season based on the matchup.
Thu, 10 Apr 2014 07:33:29 -0700
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he is fine with a potentially smaller workload in 2014. RB Joique Bell is expected to cut into Bush's workload more this season.
Fantasy Tip: Bush's value could begin to plummet this season at the age of 29. He still remains a good RB2 in PPR leagues, but Bell is starting to emerge. He's a good RB3 with potential for more.
Sat, 01 Feb 2014 08:33:05 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he talked with general manager Martin Mayhew and president Tom Lewand about keeping running backs coach Curtis Modkins on the coaching staff. Head coach Jim Caldwell has kept Modkins on the coaching staff.

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he is feeling good and hopes to be able to play at least five more seasons in the NFL.
Fri, 10 Jan 2014 17:11:35 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell, a restricted free agent, might push RB Reggie Bush for the starting job in 2014 if he is re-signed. "I have no question he could start," former offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said Friday, Jan. 10. "He's a guy that can handle a pretty heavy load. The thing about him is he has versatility to do that. He can be in the role we have him now (or he can) start a game. He's a guy that can go out there and get 100 yards for you running the football as well as produce in the passing game."
Fantasy Tip: Bell is an interesting fantasy option to watch for 2014. If he returns to Detroit, he could be a player to watch. However, Detroit's offense will change with a new regime, so there is a lot of uncertainty until the team hires a staff and gets back onto the field in the spring.
Sun, 29 Dec 2013 17:15:21 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush is the first Lions running back to go over 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a season since RB Billy Sims back in 1980.
Fantasy Tip: Bush carried 14 times for 32 yards in the Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings, and he added five receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown.
Thu, 19 Dec 2013 09:23:10 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush cited the team's lack of discipline during a span in which they've lost four of their last five games. He was careful not to put any of that blame on the coaching staff, however. "It's not a coaches thing. It's a players' thing. We can do a better job all across the board," Bush said. "As far as an offense standpoint, turn the ball over and that's the discipline issue, and that's something we have to correct because obviously, as you see, it'll lose you games."

Fri, 13 Dec 2013 14:23:14 -0800

Thu, 12 Dec 2013 09:30:06 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (calf) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 12.

Wed, 11 Dec 2013 09:55:46 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (calf) said he expects to play in the team's Week 15 game. Bush said he is not sure how he aggravated his calf injury during pregame warmups last week.
Fantasy Tip: Bush should be in all starting lineups if he is able to play. There's a decent chance Bush will be limited, sharing touches with Joique Bell, who could remain a flex play in point-per-reception leagues, even if Bush is in the lineup.
Mon, 09 Dec 2013 10:19:04 -0800
Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said RB Reggie Bush (calf) is considered day-to-day at this point.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to monitor his practice participation this week to see if he will be able to play Week 15. Owners should have a backup plan ready in case Bush is not able to play.
Sun, 08 Dec 2013 17:58:54 -0800
Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (calf) aggravated his calf injury during pregame warmups in Week 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles, and he did not play. Because Bush's injury happened so late, the team had just two active running backs, RBs Joique Bell and Theo Riddick.

Thu, 05 Dec 2013 10:00:39 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (calf) did some very light individual work in practice Thursday, Dec. 5. Bush did not do any cutting on his injured calf in practice.
Fantasy Tip: While it can be seen as good that Bush was able to do anything at all, the idea that he was unable to do much and did not do any cutting on the injured calf is concerning. Joique Bell would carry the load if Bush can't go and could be a decent play.
Wed, 04 Dec 2013 08:55:20 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (calf) sat out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Fantasy Tip: Bush's inclusion on the injury report is only notably because it's his calf and not the knee that has held him out of practices earlier this year. We don't know the extent of the injury, so keep tabs on his status the rest of the week. Joique Bell could be a decent flex play if Bush is limited at all against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Tue, 19 Nov 2013 15:01:05 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush disagreed with head coach Jim Schwartz and thinks that he is a running back that can perform well in all conditions. "I pride myself on being able to run in all conditions, you know what I mean, and I think the opposite," Bush said. "I think running in those types of conditions is, for me, I think is better because now the defenders have to be constantly on their heels and toes and we can get guys off-balanced in mud and when it's rainy and slippery, it's kind of an advantage to the running back." However, he agreed that he didn't play well in adverse conditions in Week 11 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Tue, 19 Nov 2013 12:20:19 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick, who has a similar running style to RB Reggie Bush, saw more playing time in Week 11 against the Pittsburgh Steelers after Bush lost his second fumble in the last three games. However, head coach Jim Schwartz refuses to say that Bush was benched in the contest. "It was just a couple of plays," Schwartz said. "We didn't have Joique Bell at that time, he had gone out of the game. Reggie had been taking a lot of reps. We wanted to take a little bit of that load off of him. It wasn't more than anything there."
Tue, 19 Nov 2013 09:53:03 -0800
Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz suggested that RB Reggie Bush wasn't used as much in the team's Week 11 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers because of sloppy conditions on the field. "Reggie in horse racing wouldn't be called a mudder. He's an explosively quick guy. He's better on a fast track," Schwartz said.
Fantasy Tip: Bush had 12 carries for 35 yards and added two catches for 23 yards in the loss. Preserving the health of the oft-injured runner may have been in mind, as well, on a wet and muddy field. The good news: Four of Detroit's last five games in the fantasy season will come on their home turf.

Fri, 15 Nov 2013 20:42:35 -0800
Detroit Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew said Friday, Nov. 15, that he has had to make fewer catches in heavy traffic this season with a defender right on him. It is the effect of RB Reggie Bush on offense and the ability to spread the ball to multiple receivers, leaving defenses guessing on a lot of plays. "(QB Matthew Stafford) has a great amount of confidence in him, especially in situations where we want to move the chains or we know that people are going to be playing for an outside route," offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said.
Fri, 15 Nov 2013 14:05:19 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 15, but is listed as probable for Week 11.

Fri, 08 Nov 2013 13:48:40 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 8, and is probable for Week 10.
Fantasy Tip: New to the injury report on Friday, it is still a good sign that Bush is listed as probable. It is likely he will play.
Fri, 08 Nov 2013 09:52:29 -0800
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush, who rushed for 139 yards in his first meeting with the Chicago Bears this year, knows that their weakness is stopping the run and is ready to exploit it again. "We feel like there is some room for us to take advantage of them in the run game. We just have to make sure we go in and play fundamentally sound," Bush said. Chicago is allowing 127.5 rushing yards per game this season, ranking them 29th in the league. They've allowed 408 rushing yards in their last two games.
Fantasy Tip: Bush and the Lions will surely attack Chicago on the ground repeatedly, and they should have a good deal of success, making Bush a very strong play this weekend. Joique Bell should see valuable touches, too, making him a consideration as a flex in deeper leagues.

Sat, 26 Oct 2013 08:36:44 -0700
Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said he is more concerned about the team defending Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush Week 8 than he is defending WR Calvin Johnson. "When I look at where we seem to have some vulnerability using the passes out of the backfield, I look at what San Diego did, I look at times what Philadelphia did, if they were able to do anything at all, coming out of that backfield. That seems defensively to be a rough area for us," Jones said.
