Lions | Reggie Bush bothered by ankle

Sun, 19 Oct 2014 15:55:42 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) was not benched in the Week 7 game against the New Orleans Saints. Bush only played a handful of snaps in the second half in favor of RB Joique Bell because his ankle was bothering him, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Fantasy Tip: Bush's status for Week 8 will be better known late next week after practice. If he is unable to go, or limited again, Joique Bell would be the biggest beneficiary from a fantasy perspective.

Lions | Reggie Bush probable

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 13:38:43 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) fully participated in practiced Friday, Oct. 17, and is probable for the team's Week 7 game.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Bush will be good to go in Week 7. With Calvin Johnson looking like he may not go, Bush could see some extra work, making his FantasyScore price of $6,400 a worthwhile investment.

Lions | Calvin Johnson misses another practice

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 09:12:34 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) didn't practice for the sixth straight day Friday, Oct. 17. Head coach Jim Caldwell isn't ruling him out for Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints, but he also didn't make it sound like Johnson would play, either. Johnson said earlier this week that he sees no reason to rush back to the field until he's completely healthy. The team will lean heavily on WRs Golden Tate, Corey Fuller and Jeremy Ross, along with RBs Joique Bell and Reggie Bush if Johnson doesn't play again.

Fantasy Tip: It's highly unlikely that we see Megatron play against the Saints. Avoid him everywhere. Tate's price ($6,300; 12.6% of cap) has gone up with Johnson hobbled, but he could still return a profit against a weak New Orleans defense.

Lions | Limited practice for Reggie Bush

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 13:37:49 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Bush vows to return this weekend against his old squad, the New Orleans Saints. He'll share backfield duties with Joique Bell and possibly Theo Riddick, as well, but if he receives enough touches, the matchup might make him worth his $6,400 FantasyScore price tag.

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 11:55:50 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) is participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 16.

Lions | Limited practice for Reggie Bush

Wed, 15 Oct 2014 14:13:06 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) was officially limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Bush vows to return to action in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints. Bush ($6,400; 12.8% of cap) could be a nice play against a generous Saints defense this year. Just make sure to continue monitoring Bush's status throughout the week.

Lions | Reggie Bush taking part in practice

Wed, 15 Oct 2014 11:41:43 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) is participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Bush appears to have a good chance to play in Week 7. Bush should be considered an injury risk since he could be limited if he plays, but owners can spend $6,400 on him at FantasyScore if they are confident in him.

Lions | Reggie Bush vows to play in Week 7

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 13:40:34 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) said Sunday, Oct. 12, that he is "100 percent" to play in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners will want to wait until Friday to make sure is able to practice in full and listed as probable before taking that chance on using him.

Lions | Reggie Bush to miss Week 6

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 09:04:57 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 6 game.

Fantasy Tip: Joique Bell likely will receive most of the work at running back during the game. He costs $4,900 on FantasyScore this week and could be a No. 2 running back or flex option.

Lions | Reggie Bush likely out

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 07:13:43 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) is expected to miss the game Sunday, Oct. 12, in Week 6, according to a source. RB Theo Riddick is expected to have a significant role behind RB Joique Bell.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($4,900; 9.8% of your cap) has a mighty tasty price on FantasyScore this week. Riddick is a bare-minimum flier at $3,000 this week.

Lions | Reggie Bush to test ankle before Sunday

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 11:35:36 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) said he will test his ankle sprain this weekend, but he will not push to play in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings if he's not ready. Bush learned from WR Calvin Johnson's (ankle) situation when he aggravated the injury last week trying to play on it. "I'm going to weigh all options and see how we feel on Sunday and if I can go, I'm going to go, but I'm only going to go out there if I feel like I can be myself," Bush said. he said he's been improving daily, but he didn't practice all week.

Fantasy Tip: Basically, Bush is saying he's a game-time decision against the Vikings. Play it smart and stay away from him everywhere.

Lions | Reggie Bush unlikely to play

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 10:21:11 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) is unlikely to play in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings after missing practice for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Bush from your FantasyScore lineups if you already had him in there. Joique Bell (concussion) is expected to play, so you should seriously consider using him instead in one of your running back spots.

Lions | Reggie Bush out again

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 09:46:00 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) missed his third practice of the week Friday, Oct. 10. If he can't play in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings, RBs Joique Bell and Theo Riddick will likely see more carries.

Fantasy Tip: Look to avoid Bush at FantasyScore at his price of $6,400 (12.8% of cap). Bell was cleared from his concussion earlier in the week and has been practicing in full all week. With an increased workload, Bell could be a sneaky play against the Vikings. He costs just $4,900 (9.8% of cap).

Lions | Reggie Bush sits

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 12:18:50 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Bush still may play this week, check back on his practice status Friday. He may be a risky play in FanatsyScore if he is not a full health.

Lions | Reggie Bush not on practice field

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 13:14:42 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Bush said earlier this week that he didn't think his injury is serious. Check back later this week to see his practice status. He could be questionable against the Minnesota Vikings, though, making him a risk for your daily fantasy lineups this weekend.

Lions | Reggie Bush day-to-day

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 15:11:20 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) said he is day-to-day and will do what he can to be on the field for Week 6. He said he is not sure how he suffered the injury. He underwent an MRI on the ankle and is waiting for the results.

Fantasy Tip: Bush's status for Week 6 is not known at this point, but owners will have a better idea once practice starts this week. Bush should be a starting option if he is able to play.

Lions | Reggie Bush feeling good

Sun, 05 Oct 2014 15:57:05 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) downplayed his injury after the Week 5 game against the Buffalo Bills. "I feel good, but we'll see," Bush said Sunday, Oct. 5. "I'll speak to doctors and trainers and we'll take the necessary precautions to do whatever I need to do to get healthy for this week."

Fantasy Tip: Bush sounds confident he won't miss any further time, but things can change when the medical staff makes its official evaluation. Stay tuned.

Lions | Joique Bell cleared for activity

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 10:31:45 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) has been cleared for physical activity, according to a team spokesman. However, it's still unclear if Bell will play in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills after not practicing all week. Bell was only running on the side during practice Friday, Oct. 3. Bell leads the team with 48 carries and 152 rushing yards, and he also has nine catches for 73 yards. RB Reggie Bush will likely have a larger workload if Bell can't play.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is obviously an extremely risky option for any of your FantasyScore lineups. Look elsewhere, and consider going with Reggie Bush if Bell doesn't suit up.

Lions | Joique Bell not cleared yet

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 10:58:38 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) has not yet been cleared after suffering a concussion in Week 4. Bell has 48 carries for 152 yards and a touchdown this year, and he's also added nine catches for 73 yards. More carries would be given to RB Reggie Bush against the Buffalo Bills if Bell isn't able to play this weekend. RB Theo Riddick (hamstring) said he's fine and will play this week.

Fantasy Tip: Bell obviously isn't a safe addition to your FantasyScore lineups this week, but keep an eye on his progress for the rest of the week. If Bell doesn't look like he'll play, Bush ($6,400) has a shot to return nice value.

Lions | Plan to use Reggie Bush more

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 14:49:55 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush has seen RB Joique Bell take more carries over the first two games of the season, but Bush is remaining patient as the team ranks 28th in the league in rushing yards (146) and 29th in yards per carry (3.04). Offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi is staying patient, too, as the running game was taken away in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers when they fell behind.

Lombardi said part of the plan is getting Bush more involved, and he would have had more touches against Carolina if they hadn't fallen behind. Bush has 10 fewer carries than Bell and has one more catch than Bell. Bush has just 2.7 yards per attempt on 15 carries this year, and Lombardi wants to see both totals increase. However, he also wants to make sure not to overuse Bush. The Lions envision using Bush in a designated tight end spot or close to the line as a receiver so that they can get him out in space.

Fantasy Tip: Bush will likely be overlooked by many at FantasyScore this weekend because of his limited production through two games. That is the kind of opening you may want to exploit against the Green Bay Packers, a team that should give Bush plenty of room to run and catch. He'll cost you $6,900.

Lions | Reggie Bush contract restructured

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 23:10:40 -0700

The Detroit Lions have slightly restructured the contract of RB Reggie Bush, converting some of his 2014 base salary into a signing bonus.

Lions | Reggie Bush sees fewer touches

Sun, 14 Sep 2014 19:26:13 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) was able to play in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers, but he had just six runs for 26 yards and two receptions for six yards. It appears the team is trying to spread the reps among its backs and trying to limit the wear and tear on Bush's body at the same time.

Fantasy Tip: Bush isn't off to a very good start, and he is well overpriced in FantasyScore based upon his production. Avoid using him until his salary lowers significantly, or his production increases.

Lions | Reggie Bush listed as probable

Fri, 12 Sep 2014 13:53:24 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 12, and is listed as probable for Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Bush has the ability to help out in the running and passing game each week. Bush costs $6,500 at FantasyScore this week and may not be able to bring much of a profit to an owner based on his price.

Lions | Reggie Bush practices in full

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 14:43:47 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: A healthy Bush is PPR gold, but the matchup against the stingy Panthers' defense might limit his big-play opportunities. Bush will eat up a healthy chunk ($6,500, 13.0%) of your FantasyScore budget, and he'll need a big game to reward on his price tag.

Lions | Reggie Bush doesn't do all drills

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 13:59:07 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) was held out of portions of practice Wednesday, Sept. 10. Bush was seen with an ice pack on his left knee before practice.

Fantasy Tip: Bush's injury doesn't seem serious, but it's worth monitoring for a player that has been somewhat injury-prone. Joique Bell, already owned in most leagues, would see a value spike if Bush misses any time. For FantasyScore managers in Week 2, Bush may be heavily used, making him worth his $6,500 (13.0% of cap) price.

Lions | Reggie Bush had ice on knee

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 09:52:35 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) was seen hobbling through the locker room with a bag of ice on his knee.

Fantasy Tip: This doesn't necessarily mean he's in jeopardy of missing time, but keep an eye on it heading into Week 2. At $6,500 against the Carolina Panthers, his FantasyScore price may not be worth it if he's fighting a significant injury. Joique Bell ($4,200) would get a boost if Bush can't play.

Lions | Reggie Bush likely to sit

Tue, 26 Aug 2014 19:05:33 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush will probably sit out the team's preseason finale Thursday, Aug. 28, as head coach Jim Caldwell plans to give his veterans some extra rest.

Fantasy Tip: Bush should be a big part of Detroit's rushing and passing attacks this year, making him a solid option as an RB2 in all formats with the potential to be a high-end RB2 in PPR leagues.

Lions | Reggie Bush sits

Mon, 25 Aug 2014 12:29:48 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (undisclosed) did not practice Monday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: There was no indication that Bush is injured. This could just be precautionary. Bush remains an RB2 option with more upside in PPR leagues.

Lions | Reggie Bush works with receivers

Tue, 05 Aug 2014 20:21:21 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush ran routes with the receivers during individual drills Tuesday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Bush ran 88 total routes last season from either the slot or out wide, and that total could increase this year in the team's new offense. He is a valuable back in any format, but he is a borderline RB1 in PPR leagues.

Lions | Reggie Bush feeling spry

Mon, 04 Aug 2014 23:22:01 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush is 29 years old and about to enter his ninth NFL season, but he does not feel old and wants to play many more years. "I don't want to put a timetable on it because I don't know," Bush said. "I don't know if it's five (years), four, three, six. I'm not sure. But I know if I get to 15 that'll be a blessing." The coaching staff has done a careful job of managing his repetitions, with several other viable running backs to help shoulder the load, according to running backs coach Curtis Modkins.

Fantasy Tip: Playing six more years in the NFL might be a stretch, but Bush could see his career extended because of his receiving skills. The veteran back may have a spot in the NFL as a situational player beyond his current deal, which has him under contract through the 2016 season. Value Bush as a low-end RB1 in deep PPR leagues, but he is a much better second back in 2014.

Lions | Mikel Leshourse expected to compete

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 19:18:56 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Mikel Leshoure is currently believed to be the fourth tailback on the club behind RBs Reggie Bush, Joique Bell and Theo Riddick heading into training camp and the preseason, but general manager Martin Mayhew expects Leshoure to compete for snaps. The team will use an offense similar to the New Orleans Saints, and they occasionally used a fourth tailback.

Fantasy Tip: Leshoure has tumbled down the depth chart due to a rash of his own injuries, and the production of others while he was off the field. He appears to be in the plans still, but ever so slightly. From a fantasy perspective, he should be avoided on draft day unless injuries to others dramatically alter things during training camp and the preseason.

Lions | Teammate high on Theo Riddick

Mon, 09 Jun 2014 12:03:12 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush indicated he believes RB Theo Riddick will have a role in the offense this upcoming season because he is hard to cover in passing game. Riddick could receive more snaps this season, because offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi could use Riddick like RB Darren Sproles was used with the New Orleans Saints.

Lions | Reggie Bush won't return kicks

Mon, 09 Jun 2014 09:40:22 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush has no plans to be considered for kick or punt returns in 2014. "As of right now, no," Bush said. "And hopefully, no. I'd like to think I graduated from returning kicks and punts," Bush said. WR Jeremy Ross will continue to be the man for kick and punt returns.

Fantasy Tip: It's probably best that Bush stick to running back duties to preserve his body for the long haul in a new offense that he could see a lot of action in.

Lions | Reggie Bush wants to retire in Detroit

Thu, 22 May 2014 23:07:32 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush would like to extend his playing career past the 2016 season, and he would like to retire in Detroit if at all possible. "I don't want to bounce around from city to city, from team to team. I think I have something good going here, have been really getting to know the city over the past year and just really looking forward to bringing a championship here someday and making history," Bush said.

Fantasy Tip: While Bush may see his workload decrease a bit with Joique Bell, a hometown product from Wayne State, getting carries, it is not out of the question Bush could have a few productive seasons left. Provided he doesn't come down with fumble-itis, he's worth consideration.

Lions | RB playing time expected to stay same

Wed, 16 Apr 2014 11:08:17 -0700

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said RBs Reggie Bush and Joique Bell likely will receive similar workloads this upcoming season than they did during the 2013 season. Bush played 54 percent of the offensive snaps in 2013 while Bell participated in 49 percent of the snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Bush and Bell likely will be offensive factors in 2014 as long as they are able to stay healthy. Both could be considered No. 2 or No. 3 running backs for owners this upcoming season based on the matchup.

Lions | Reggie Bush to see smaller load

Thu, 10 Apr 2014 07:33:29 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he is fine with a potentially smaller workload in 2014. RB Joique Bell is expected to cut into Bush's workload more this season.

Fantasy Tip: Bush's value could begin to plummet this season at the age of 29. He still remains a good RB2 in PPR leagues, but Bell is starting to emerge. He's a good RB3 with potential for more.

Lions | Joique Bell could push Reggie Bush

Fri, 10 Jan 2014 17:11:35 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell, a restricted free agent, might push RB Reggie Bush for the starting job in 2014 if he is re-signed. "I have no question he could start," former offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said Friday, Jan. 10. "He's a guy that can handle a pretty heavy load. The thing about him is he has versatility to do that. He can be in the role we have him now (or he can) start a game. He's a guy that can go out there and get 100 yards for you running the football as well as produce in the passing game."

Fantasy Tip: Bell is an interesting fantasy option to watch for 2014. If he returns to Detroit, he could be a player to watch. However, Detroit's offense will change with a new regime, so there is a lot of uncertainty until the team hires a staff and gets back onto the field in the spring.

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush is the first Lions running back to go over 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a season since RB Billy Sims back in 1980.

Thu, 19 Dec 2013 09:23:10 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush cited the team's lack of discipline during a span in which they've lost four of their last five games. He was careful not to put any of that blame on the coaching staff, however. "It's not a coaches thing. It's a players' thing. We can do a better job all across the board," Bush said. "As far as an offense standpoint, turn the ball over and that's the discipline issue, and that's something we have to correct because obviously, as you see, it'll lose you games."
