49ers | Reggie Bush the top returner

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 15:48:22 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush is listed as the top kick and punt returner in San Francisco's first released depth chart. Head coach Jim Tomsula said Bush has the skill to succeed in the return game and that he wants to be the team's returner.

Fantasy Tip: Whether Bush remains in the starting returner position is yet to be seen, but it doesn't sound like the 49ers are bluffing about it. Bush will have more value in leagues that reward return points. He should be viewed as a speculative RB3 in PPR leagues.

49ers | Reggie Bush sitting Saturday

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 13:28:22 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush will not play in the preseason opener against the Houston Texans Saturday, Aug. 15. Head coach Jim Tomsula said Bush isn't playing because he doesn't need to see him play.

Fantasy Tip: It's not unusual at all for key players to sit out at least the first preseason contest. It doesn't sound like Bush is injured, so there's nothing to be concerned about here. Bush will play behind Carlos Hyde, but he has RB4 upside in PPR leagues.

49ers | Reggie Bush flashes receiving skills

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 20:36:03 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush caught three passes out of the backfield during 11-on-11 drills Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Bush will likely have trouble seeing the field outside of passing situations, and at 30, he isn't the elusive back he once was, either. Injuries crept up again last season, too. Still, all is not lost with Bush. He'll have RB3 value in PPR leagues, and is worth drafting for a bench spot in standard formats.

49ers | Reggie Bush being rested

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 20:36:13 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush was held out of training camp for the second day in a row Sunday, Aug. 2. "I'm not going to wait to see Reggie tired and (then) give him a break," head coach Jim Tomsula said. "He's been doing this for a long time. Our goal is to not get Reggie tired. He's in shape."

Fantasy Tip: Bush should make a solid RB3 in points-per-reception formats, but with Carlos Hyde likely handling a bulk of the between-the-tackle duties, Bush's exact workload remains to be seen.

Saints | C.J. Spiller a good fit in New Orleans?

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 17:52:44 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB C.J. Spiller has a perfect skill-set for head coach Sean Payton's system, which relies on getting the ball to players in space, according Chris Wesseling of NFL.com. Wesseling believes Spiller is significantly more talented than RB Reggie Bush and RB Darren Sproles, who both thrived in Payton's system.

Fantasy Tip: Pass-catching backs like Spiller have enjoyed a lot of success in Payton's system. He has a good chance to slide into RB2 territory in PPR formats, and he should make a solid flex option in standard leagues.

49ers | Reggie Bush likes the offense

Sun, 31 May 2015 20:22:38 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush said he has been used in a variety of ways on offense, and he added that he likes what he has seen out of offensive coordinator Geep Chryst.

Fantasy Tip: Bush certainly has the versatility to wear many hats within the offense, but it remains to be seen exactly what role he will have and how many touches he will receive. He should be a solid RB3 in PPR leagues, but he may be more of a bench option in traditional formats.

49ers | Reggie Bush wants to return punts

Thu, 21 May 2015 16:29:10 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush has expressed his desire to the San Francisco 49ers coaching staff to return punts this season. "I told the coaches I wanted to return punts again. And they were excited about it," Bush said. "We're still working at it, still chipping away. And we're looking forward to being and all-around great special teams."

Fantasy Tip: Whether the role as a punt returner will decrease Bush's role in the 49ers' backfield remains to be seen. He'll have more value in leagues that reward returns. He has RB3 potential in point-per-reception leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde expected to start

Wed, 13 May 2015 22:49:07 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is the expected starter heading into the regular season while RBs Reggie Bush, Kendall Hunter and rookie Mike Davis all compete for touches as well.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde will get first crack at the carries and if fantasy drafts were today, he would be the first San Francisco back off the board. The San Francisco RB situation is crowded, though, and it could be similar to a New England situation from last year where one guy is a stud one week and non-existent the next. Be careful to have plenty of depth at the position if you draft 49ers.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick helped by Reggie Bush

Wed, 13 May 2015 13:25:43 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush has been an asset to QB Colin Kaepernick this offseason, according to general manager Trent Baalke. Baalke said Bush and Kaepernick have developed a rapport and that Bush's downfield speed gives Kaepernick more room to work with.

Fantasy Tip: Carlos Hyde is still expected to start in the 49ers' backfield, but Bush should be the primary passing-down running back. Head coach Jim Tomsula has already lauded Bush as an every-down back, so Bush should still see his fair share of playing time. Hyde is in the RB2 conversation while Bush shouldn't be considered more than a RB3. With Torrey Smith, Vernon Davis and Reggie Bush as weapons, not to mention his running ability, Kaepernick should be in the QB1 conversation heading into 2015.

Saints | NO considered Reggie Bush

Thu, 26 Mar 2015 10:08:52 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush was considered by the New Orleans Saints before he agreed with the Niners, according to Saints head coach Sean Payton.

Fantasy Tip: Be careful not to overvalue Bush in 2015 drafts. Remember, he'll be splitting time with Carlos Hyde in San Fran, and Hyde is expected to be the main back, with Bush contributing mostly in passing situations. Consider Bush as fantasy depth in point-per-reception formats.
