Atlanta Braves 2B Dan Uggla is 4-for-8 with two home runs and seven RBIs in his last two games after going 6-for-37 (.162) with two doubles, three RBIs, one walk and 11 strikeouts in his first 10 games.
Fantasy Tip: Remember that Uggla is one of the streakiest hitters in all of baseball, but the hot stretch this early is good to see after he made some changes in the offseason. Ride him while he's hot.

Atlanta Braves 2B Dan Uggla has hit the ball hard in all but one of his first eight plate appearances of the year through two games, and he's 2-for-8 with two doubles and no strikeouts. "We're extremely encouraged by Danny," said hitting coach Greg Walker. He's got a real good routine now that he does every day. He doesn't deviate from the plan. He knows what he wants to do, and the cool thing is, I think he's gaining confidence. I think he's really feeling it."
Fantasy Tip: Don't overreact just yet. We're only two games into the season. But the balance and confidence that Uggla is showing at the plate is a nice start to help him bounce back from his last two terrible seasons with Atlanta.

Atlanta Braves 2B Dan Uggla spent much of the winter working on his swing, and he's feeling great heading into the season. Uggla entered Thursday, March 27, hitting .280 with four home runs and an on-base percentage of .406 in 50 spring at-bats. "I feel better than I've ever felt (in the spring), as far as knowing where I'm at and knowing my swing," Uggla said. "It's not a new swing, I just got back to where I was before." Manager Fredi Gonzalez is leaning toward batting Uggla in the sixth spot in the batting order, in front of C Evan Gattis.
Fantasy Tip: Uggla is coming into 2014 with a serious chip on his shoulder after tanking last year and being left off the postseason roster. His BA won't ever help you, but perhaps he bounces back some. He's not a bad gamble in the last few rounds in mixed leagues for his power.

Atlanta Braves 2B Dan Uggla homered and tripled Monday, March 17, and the recent work he's done at the plate might be finally starting to show up. "You can catch up to a homer. Just protecting the plate, accidentally hit a homer, whatever. But that's me. Being able to let the ball get deep with two strikes again and drive it the other way, that's the swing like 'All right, it's feeling good. Just build on that,'" Uggla said. He's been working on his foundation and balance all offseason, but he's adjusted to go with a wider stance a week ago and it has "clicked." Uggla is hitting .273 (9-for-33) with 10 RBIs, nine walks and 13 strikeouts.

Atlanta Braves 2B Dan Uggla is projected as the starting second baseman, but 2B Tommy La Stella has been planting seeds early in the spring, hitting .455 (5 for 11) through three games in the major league camp. "He swings it, and our reports say that's what he does," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "He can swing and make contact and put the ball in play, a gap-type hitter."

Atlanta Braves 2B Dan Uggla decided he needed to start crouching more in his batting stance this offseason in order to quiet his swing down like he did during his rookie season in 2006. His offseason hitting sessions with this new approach started in November. Uggla said he was too often caught on his front foot last year during his epic slump. "Everything was so rushed," Uggla said. "I didn't have any of my legs because I was out on my front foot so bad. I want to get back to my legs, where I have a base, because that is where my swing starts. For whatever reason, I got into some bad habits and I couldn't fix it. I just went into a tailspin."
