Steelers | DeAngelo Williams signs with Steelers

Fri, 13 Mar 2015 14:43:42 -0700

Free-agent RB DeAngelo Williams (Panthers) has signed a two-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Williams will be the No. 2 running back behind Le'Veon Bell but could have a big role early in the season since Bell is facing a suspension. Owners should see Williams as an option in the later rounds of drafts next season.

Steelers | Pittsburgh to add DeAngelo Williams

Fri, 13 Mar 2015 13:16:25 -0700

Free-agent RB DeAngelo Williams (Panthers) will sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Williams will play behind Le'Veon Bell but could receive some starts early in the season if Bell is suspended. Williams was limited by injuries this past season and probably should only be considered as a later-round option in drafts next season.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams meeting with PIT

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 09:07:29 -0700

Free-agent RB DeAngelo Williams (Panthers) is scheduled to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers Friday, March 13, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Williams was limited to only six games this past season because of injuries and posted only 219 rushing yards and zero touchdowns. Williams likely would be the primary backup in Pittsburgh if he signs but could receive a few starts if Le'Veon Bell is suspended for his arrest. Williams probably would be an option in later rounds of fantasy drafts.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams officially cut

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 14:35:40 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams was officially released Tuesday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is on the wrong side of 30 and has plenty of injury concerns, so he won't sign with a team that will give him a lead-back role. Expect Williams to be nothing more than a late-round flier in fantasy football drafts this fall to round out your running back depth. Stay tuned on where he signs.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams not upset with release

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 09:08:28 -0800

Free-agent RB DeAngelo Williams (Panthers) said he was not upset when the Carolina Panthers told him last week that he'd be released. Williams told Charlotte's WBTV that DE Greg Hardy was the only member of the organization to attend his mother's funeral in Arkansas last May. The Panthers are saying that Williams has not officially been released. The team can save $2 million under the salary cap by designating him a post-June 1 cut. Williams said owner Jerry Richardson's failure to reach out to Williams after his mother's death was "extremely disappointing."

Fantasy Tip: While the Williams release technically isn't official now, it's only a matter of time at this point. At 32 years old and with plenty of injury questions, it's hard to see many teams jumping at the chance to sign him. Wherever he lands, we don't see him being anything more than running back depth for your fantasy squad. Jonathan Stewart should take over as the main back in Carolina after finishing off 2014 with an impressive run.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams not released

Mon, 23 Feb 2015 13:18:59 -0800

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams has not been released and is not expected to be released Monday, Feb. 23. It was previously reported that Williams had been released.

Fantasy Tip: Williams could very well still get the boot and Jonathan Stewart should still take over as the main running back in Carolina. Until then, Williams should not be considered more than a flex play while Stewart has RB2 potential.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams officially cut

Mon, 23 Feb 2015 12:40:49 -0800

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams has been released.

Fantasy Tip: Jonathan Stewart takes the reins as the starting running back in Carolina. Consider him an RB2 option as long as he stays healthy this offseason. Williams could very well be signed by another team, but he's very much over the hill at almost 32 years old.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams could be gone

Mon, 23 Feb 2015 12:12:58 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams may be on his way out of Carolina. Williams, who turns 32 in two months, played in just six games last season while RB Jonathan Stewart found new life. Cutting Williams would also save the Panthers $2 million in salary cap space.

Fantasy Tip: It would make sense for Carolina and Williams to cut ties at this point in Williams' career. Williams could still be signed by another team if he is released, but probably wouldn't hold much fantasy value.
