Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler threw an interception and fumbled twice in the team's Week 7 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Cutler has turned the ball over multiple times in all four of the team's losses this year, but he hasn't turned the ball over once in any of the team's three wins. The Bears opponents have scored 37 total points off Cutler's turnovers this year. He was sacked three times and finished with a passer rating of 74.4 against the Dolphins with 190 yards and a touchdown.
Fantasy Tip: It's been a Jekyll and Hyde season so far for Cutler. He's a matchup play right now, and he'll be on the road against the New England Patriots in Week 8, which could be another tough game.
Sun, 19 Oct 2014 15:09:39 -0700
Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall called out QB Jay Cutler in a heated locker room discussion after the team's Week 7 loss against the Miami Dolphins, a source said Sunday, Oct. 19. The source said there "are some very selfish individuals in the locker room." But it's not out of the ordinary for Marshall to strongly voice his opinion to Cutler, as the two are close friends off the field. Marshall also reportedly yelled at PK Robbie Gould.
Fantasy Tip: The argument shouldn't affect fantasy values any, and it is just part of football, competition and losing. If the Bears won this game, obviously things would be just fine.

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler has impressed head coach Marc Trestman with how intelligent and selfless he's been to better the team. Trestman also said he's been impressed with Cutler's skillset and football smarts.
Fantasy Tip: Cutler has had QB1 potential his whole career, but hasn't really had that perfect season yet or proven he's worthy of QB1 status. He played well last year before an ankle injury, but it's best to draft him as a QB2 for now.
Fri, 11 Jul 2014 12:38:22 -0700
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler believes he's more familiar with second-year head coach Marc Trestman's offense. Cutler said he should be able to think less and play faster now that he's become more acquainted with concepts and formations.
Fantasy Tip: Cutler is quarterbacking one of the more potent offenses in the NFL this year. He should be drafted as a high-end QB2 with QB1 potential.
Sun, 29 Jun 2014 07:33:32 -0700
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler has made tremendous strides cleaning up his fundamentals this offseason, according to quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh. "I've seen incredible progress," Cavanaugh said. "When we got in here last year & evaluated him we had a real good conversation with him about certain things that every quarterback should do. We said, 'Jay it might not be natural, but we want you to try it.' And he did"
"To his credit, he's taken every suggestion we've given and he's embraced it. From how he holds the ball to how he lines up in the`Gun' pre-snap to how he drops back, to his throwing base to his follow-through. Every little fundamental we've talked to him about, he's embraced, and it's like night & day."
Tue, 10 Jun 2014 10:57:35 -0700
Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman said QB Jay Cutler has made his durability a priority this offseason, and the quarterback has become bigger and stronger as a result. "He's bigger, he's stronger than a year ago, and he has really focused on staying physically well for the entire season. That's No. 1 -- we've got to keep him standing, keep him safe. And we see the improvements he's made in working on different issues in his mechanics, and I think he's feeling very comfortable back there in Year 2," Trestman said.
Fantasy Tip: If it weren't for Cutler's penchant to miss chunks of games each season due to injury, he'd be a no-doubt QB1 with plenty of upside. In Chicago's pass-happy offense with arguably two of the best and most physical wide receivers in the league, there still is upside from Cutler, but it comes with plenty of risk. He's a low-end QB1 that needs to be paired with a capable backup.

Former Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo, the GM that pulled off the trade to acquire QB Jay Cutler in 2009, said Cutler has all the tools except for the fact that he isn't clutch. "Has all the physical tools, but inconsistent in the clutch," Angelo wrote. "Mostly due to a lack of poise. He's not comfortable reading defenses and consequently locks onto a favorite or pre-determined target, that may or may not be the right choice. The less he's asked to see the better he is. A better half field general, than a full field one."

"I don't know when it's going to happen, and eventually, it might not happen. But we're going to take a crack at it for sure."

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler was reconfirmed the starter for Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers.
Fantasy Tip: The matchup against Green Bay isn't terrible, but Cutler hasn't hit full stride in a season that was interrupted by injuries. He has the weapons, but the offensive line took a step back in Week 16. Consider him a low-end QB1 if you're still playing.

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler said he's not feeling pressure heading into the team's Week 16 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. "No, I feel pretty good," Cutler said. "I feel kind of at ease. We've got a real good plan this week I think. The guys on offense are playing at about as high of a level as I think you could play around me, so it makes it easy for me. Just find the open guy."
Fantasy Tip: Cutler is facing a 31st ranked Eagles pass defense, which should bode well for his upside in championship weekend. Consider him a midrange QB1.
Sun, 15 Dec 2013 14:46:19 -0800
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (ankle) completed 22 of his 31 pass attempts for 265 yards for three touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 15 game against the Cleveland Browns. He also tested his ankle by running three times for 11 yards.
Fantasy Tip: Cutler looked good against a solid pass defense, and made it through with no apparent setbacks from the ankle injury which kept him out for four games. Cutler is a must-start fantasy option heading into Week 16.
Fri, 13 Dec 2013 12:01:12 -0800
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (ankle) is being listed as probable for Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns.
Fantasy Tip: Remember, Cutler hasn't played since Week 10, so there may be a rust factor. The Browns are no slouch on defense, either, and Joe Haden will do his best to shut down Brandon Marshall, Cutler's favorite target. It's somewhat risky to rely on Cutler with a lot on the line.

The Chicago Bears plan to put QB Jay Cutler (ankle) through a full-speed workout Wednesday, Dec. 11, before making a decision on whether he will start over QB Josh McCown in Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns. "We'll have receivers there afterwards. We'll work him through drops, redirect him in the pocket, move him up and down and get as much suddenness out of him as we can," head coach Marc Trestman said. "He's gone through the first steps (of being cleared to play) other than this workout. He's been cleared from a standpoint of allowing us to work him at full speed."

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to wait a day or two before finding out who will start. Cutler likely would be a low-end No. 1 quarterback if he is able to return to the lineup. Josh McCown should be considered a solid No. 1 quarterback if he keeps the job.
Tue, 10 Dec 2013 06:05:33 -0800
Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman said QB Jay Cutler (ankle) is still the team's starting quarterback. Cutler will have to practice in full this week in order to play in Week 15.
Fantasy Tip: Cutler has torn ligaments in the ankle, and his mobility might be limited when he returns. If Cutler is a sitting duck in the pocket, it's hard to envision him being very effective.

Wed, 04 Dec 2013 06:02:23 -0800
Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery said the team doesn't want to use the franchise tag on QB Jay Cutler. "With the franchise tag being so high for the quarterback position, to use it and not sign the individual to a long-term deal hurts the team because you lose the ability to prorate the amount of guaranteed salary over the length of the contract," Emery said.
Tue, 03 Dec 2013 14:49:58 -0800
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (ankle) said he's been feeling better, but head coach Marc Trestman is still referring to him as "week-to-week." Cutler was hoping to return in Week 14 against the Dallas Cowboys. "Getting better," Cutler said. "Still got to talk to the doctors, gotta go through some stuff this week. I don't know. I think if we're gonna have any shot at playing, I'm gonna have to practice (this week). I still feel like I'm gonna get back here really soon. I want to play. It's just the trainers and doctors and going through the scenario we've got to go through." Cutler said he ran on a treadmill and felt fine Monday, Dec. 2.
Fantasy Tip: Don't count on Cutler being ready for Monday Night Football. Josh McCown has looked just fine in Cutler's absence and has a nice matchup on hand against the Cowboys, making him a midrange QB1 play.
Mon, 02 Dec 2013 12:20:36 -0800
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (ankle) said he hopes to play Week 14 but has not been cleared to play at this point.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to monitor Cutler's practice participation this week to see if he has any chance to play. Josh McCown would get another start if Cutler remains out and should be considered a solid No. 1 quarterback option.
