Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval returns to lineup

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 11:15:51 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (neck) is back in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 28.

Fantasy Tip: Sandoval ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has homered in back-to-back days and is heating up. It makes sense to ride him at FantasyScore tonight against Toronto Blue Jays starter Drew Hutchison.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval expects to play Tuesday

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 08:58:30 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (neck), who is suffering from whiplash, said he should be good to go to play Tuesday, April 28. Sandoval homered and had three RBI in the team's win over the Toronto Blue Jays Monday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: Sandoval ($4,200, 8.4% of cap), after a slow start, has now homered in back-to-back games and raised his average to .294 (20-for-68). Ride him while he's hot at FantasyScore, but first make sure he's playing tonight against Blue Jays starter Drew Hutchison. All 20 of the Kung Fu Panda's hits this year have been from the left side against right-handed pitchers.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval leaves game

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 17:43:48 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (neck) left the game Monday, April 27, against the Toronto Blue Jays due to a sore neck, the team said.

Fantasy Tip: Brock Holt ($2,000; 4.0% of cap) came in from right field to play third base, and he might get a start at the hot corner if Sandoval is forced to miss any game time.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval baffled by lefties

Sat, 25 Apr 2015 19:34:29 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval went 0-for-4 against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, April 25, and he is 0-for-16 against left-handed pitching this season.

Fantasy Tip: On the plus side, Sandoval ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is hitting .362 against right-handed pitching, but he needs to be avoided at FantasyScore against southpaws for the time being.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval hitless vs. lefties

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 14:38:15 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval has not recorded a hit against a left-handed pitcher through 13 plate appearances this season. He is currently hitting .406 (13-for-32) against righties. In 2014, Sandoval hit just .199 against southpaws and .317 against right-handed pitchers. Sandoval is a switch hitter, and the Red Sox have a history of encouraging their hitters to select a side, as OFs Shane Victorino and Daniel Nava no longer switch hit.

Fantasy Tip: This is a concerning trend for fantasy owners. Perhaps Sandoval ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) opts to only hit left handed, or perhaps the Red Sox begin to sit him against southpaws. Either way, both an adjustment period and fewer at-bats seem likely. FantasyScore players would be wise to avoid Sandoval whenever he faces a lefty until he proves he can handle them. It also might be a nice time to try and sell high on Sandoval in seasonal leagues, especially with the potential of him platooning. The Red Sox have a deep bench, after all.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval out Monday

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 06:42:35 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval is out of the lineup Monday, April 20.

Fantasy Tip: It's just a routine day off after he played in three consecutive games. At $4,200 (8.4% of your cap), Sandoval is in the upper echelon of a thin position on FantasyScore. He's worth consideration when he's in there.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval's injury not serious

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 14:41:29 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (foot) "could have played" Wednesday, April 15, according to manager John Farrell. Sandoval bruised his left foot after being hit by a pitch Tuesday, April 14.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Sandoval ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) should be ready to return to the lineup Friday night when the team faces the Baltimore Orioles. He should be good to go for FantasyScore lineups that night, too.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval sitting Wednesday

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 07:52:00 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (foot) is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 15.

Fantasy Tip: Sandoval ($4,200, 8.4% of your cap) should only miss a day or two with a bruised foot. Brock Holt ($2,000, 4.0%) is 7-for-11 with four RBIs on the young season. He hasn't faced Gio Gonzalez before, but he hit .293 against lefties last year. He's a low-end second base option on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval has bruised foot

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 20:04:48 -0700

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (foot) had no structural damage based on a scan done at Fenway Park Tuesday, April 14. He left the game against the Washington Nationals after being hit on the foot by a pitch.

Fantasy Tip: Panda is considered day to day with a bruised on his left foot. If he is forced to miss time, Hanley Ramirez ($5,000; 10.0% of cap) or perhaps Brock Holt ($2,000; 4.0% of cap) will make a start at the hot corner Wednesday. FantasyScore owners will want to avoid Sandoval until he can officially return and prove his health.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval leaves early

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 18:26:25 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (foot) was hit on the left foot in the third inning of the game Tuesday, April 14, against the Washington Nationals. He stayed in initially, but exited in the sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Sandoval ($4,200; or 8.4% of cap) might simply be day to day, although there is no official word from the club. If he is forced to miss game time, Brock Holt ($2,200; or 4.4% of cap) might get a start at the hot corner. Holt could be a strong value in FantasyScore at this price level. Hanley Ramirez ($5,000; or 10.0% of cap) is also capable of handling the duties at 3B, and he filled in when Panda left early.
