Seahawks | Seattle adds Fred Jackson

Fri, 04 Sep 2015 16:24:36 -0700

Free-agent RB Fred Jackson (Bills) agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks Friday, Sept. 4, on a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson will be a backup to Marshawn Lynch this season but could still see some playing time during games. Jackson could be a late-round option in deeper leagues to serve as depth at the position.

Seahawks | Fred Jackson likely signing with Seattle

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 05:24:15 -0700

Free-agent RB Fred Jackson (Bills) is meeting with the Seattle Seahawks Tuesday, Sept. 1, and both sides expect a deal to get done.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson probably would have more fantasy value on another team because Marshawn Lynch isn't coming out in the red zone (if they choose to run him there.) Jackson might be worth an RB5 flyer still.

Cowboys | Dallas not pursuing Fred Jackson?

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 14:00:12 -0700

Free-agent RB Fred Jackson (Bills) probably won't be pursued by the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPNDallas.com's Todd Archer.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson may now be the best available running back on the market, but Dallas seems fine with the likes of Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar. If the Cowboys felt like they needed another running back, they probably would have tried harder to acquire Chris Johnson when he was a free agent.

Patriots | Pats could pursue Fred Jackson

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 10:22:05 -0700

Free-agent RB Fred Jackson (Bills) could receive interest from the New England Patriots as a possible pass-catching running back, in the opinion of Mike Reiss, of ESPNBoston.com.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson likely will receive interest from several teams, so he should have some fantasy value this season. Jackson could be a late-round pick in point-per-reception leagues if he joins the Patriots because he could have a solid role in the passing game.

Cowboys | Dallas not in on Fred Jackson

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 08:46:33 -0700

Free-agent RB Fred Jackson (Bills) isn't drawing interest from the Dallas Cowboys, who may be interested in a different running back.

Fantasy Tip: F-Jax could still be a solid RB4 in fantasy if he can land a short-yardage, goal line role on a team.

Bills | Fred Jackson released

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 07:31:12 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson was released Monday, Aug. 31. He was slated to make $2.35 million this year and wasn't asked to take a pay cut.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson can still be a capable short-yardage/goal line back for a team so keep him on your watch list. The big question is will Bryce Brown or Anthony Dixon serve as Buffalo's No. 2 behind Shady McCoy? Whichever wins the gig will be worth a RB5 flyer.

Bills | Several key Bills return to practice

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 12:17:03 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (hamstring) and WRs Sammy Watkins (glute), Robert Woods (hip) and Marcus Easley (knee) all returned to practice Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is the biggest return for Buffalo, although Jackson and Woods are important offensive pieces as well. When healthy, Watkins can achieve WR2 production. Woods is an undervalued sleeper and should be drafted as a low-end WR4 to high-end WR5. Jackson was a PPR monster last season, but he won't see as much playing time as long as LeSean McCoy is healthy. View him as a RB4 in PPR leagues. Easley can be left on waivers.

Bills | Fred Jackson back at practice

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 07:05:07 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (hamstring) is participating in practice Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson has missed a few weeks of practice because of his hamstring injury, but appears to be recovered from the injury. Jackson likely will be the No. 2 running back this season and could be a late-round option.

Bills | Fred Jackson focused mentally

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 12:53:29 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (hamstring) is focused on being prepared mentally while he's sidelined with a nagging hamstring injury. "We have to just get in the playbook and know what to expect when the play is called and know what kind of looks we'll get and just be prepared mentally if we can't do it physically." Head coach Rex Ryan hopes Jackson will be well enough in time for the Bills' third preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills are in dire straits with their current running back situation. LeSean McCoy, Jackson, Bryce Brown, Anthony Dixon and Karlos Williams are all dealing with injuries. McCoy should still be ready to go by Week 1, as should Jackson and perhaps some of the others. If McCoy can stay on the field, Jackson won't be nearly as valuable as he was last season, but he still has value in PPR leagues where you should view him as a RB4.

Bills | Fred Jackson has major hamstring injury

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 16:57:15 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (hamstring) is dealing with a major hamstring injury, according to head coach Rex Ryan. Ryan hopes Jackson will be able to return for their third preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday, Aug. 29.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills are depleted at running back right now, with LeSean McCoy, Jackson, Anthony Dixon, Bryce Brown and Karlos Williams all banged up. If all are healthy by the time the regular season begins, McCoy should still be considered in low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 territory, while Jackson has RB4 potential with added value in PPR leagues.
