Updating previous items, Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall has a deal that contains $14.8 million in guaranteed money and not $23 million as originally thought. Only Marshall's $7.5 million signing bonus and $7.3 million base salary are fully guaranteed, whereas the other $7.5 million, his 2015 base salary, is guaranteed for injury only at this point.

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall said he would like to play at least six more years in the NFL. Marshall said one of his goals is to surpass the numbers put up by Hall of Fame WR Cris Carter. "They're going to have to rip the jersey off of my back [for me to stop playing]," Marshall said. "I've always said I want to play 14 years. That's always been my goal. But maybe [I'll play until I'm] 36 years old. Who knows?
"I'm trying to pass Cris Carter in everything. I don't think I have it in me to go for Jerry [Rice]. That's 20 years I would have to play. Maybe with modern medicine and all this new technology, I could potentially play that long, but I've had three hip surgeries. I'm just asking for six more [years in the league]."

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall said he is not concerned that he is entering the final year of his contract because, he expects a deal to happen at some point. "I have another year left on my contract. If it happens, it happens, if it doesn't, I'm glad to be a Bear for another year and I'm going to force them to sign me after next year," Marshall said. "One way or another, they're going to get the deal done. But if it comes down to next year, I'll be picketing outside of Halas Hall for a new deal, a new contract, because I'm not going anyplace."

The Chicago Bears may not sign WR Brandon Marshall to a contract extension this offseason even though his current contract runs through the 2014 season. The team does not have a lot of salary cap space and have needs on defense.
