Jets | Brandon Marshall struggled with drops

Wed, 22 Feb 2017 12:21:46 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall dropped seven passes this past season, according to ESPN Stats and Information.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's future with the Jets is uncertain at this point, so owners will need to monitor the situation. He finished this season with 59 receptions, 788 yards and three touchdowns. Marshall probably will be a starting receiver for a team in 2017 and could be a No. 3 fantasy receiver.

Jets | Good chance Brandon Marshall is cut

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 06:22:55 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall has about a 60 percent chance of being cut this offseason, in the opinion of The Star-Ledger's Darryl Slater.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall went from the best season of his career to the worst since his rookie season. He turns 33 next month, and there appears to be plenty still in the tank. However, that WR1 window has probably closed. He'd be a solid WR2 candidate in a better situation.

Jets | Brandon Marshall plans to change style

Sat, 11 Feb 2017 17:21:07 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said he will "absolutely" change his leadership style after his vocal approach caused friction in the locker room in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall could end up being released in the offseason, and if he lands with a better offense, he could still be a WR2 candidate. If he is back with the Jets, he shouldn't be trusted as more than a WR3.

Jets | Brandon Marshall thinks he will return

Wed, 08 Feb 2017 15:34:31 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said he believes he will be back with the Jets in 2017 because the organization has not given him any indication that he will not return.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is scheduled to count $7.5 million against the salary cap in 2017 but he could be released since the team would save that amount of cap space. Owners will need to keep an eye on his situation because he could have more value based on his team. Marshall likely will start no matter where he plays and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver.

Ravens | Brandon Marshall a fit in Baltimore?

Thu, 02 Feb 2017 18:25:53 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall could be targeted by the Baltimore Ravens if Marshall is released because he is the type of veteran receiver general manager Ozzie Newsome has pursued in the past, according to beat writer Jeff Zrebiec.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's 2016 campaign was derailed by injuries and the lack of quality quarterback play, but he could jump back into the WR2 mix if he lands in Baltimore.

Jets | Brandon Marshall not open to pay cut

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 17:57:43 -0800

Contrary to a report earlier this month, New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall is not open to accepting a pay cut. He is set to make $7.5 million in 2017, the final season of a three-year, $26 million contract. "People need to get away from (my being) due $7.5 million. Get away from my salary. That's underpaid. Any team should be happy to have me for $7.5 million," Marshall told WFAN radio's Boomer and Carton Show on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: According to ESPN, Marshall's 2017 salary is tied for 13th among receivers in terms of actual cash payout. The 32-year-old (33 in March) probably isn't going to repeat 2015 again (109 catches, 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns), but nagging injuries and poor quarterback play make him look a lot worse than what he was in 2016 (59 catches, 788 yards and three TDs). With an upgrade at quarterback this off-season, Marshall could return to the WR2 ranks.

Jets | Brandon Marshall open to pay cut

Mon, 02 Jan 2017 15:16:37 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall is set to make $7.5 million next season, but none of that money is guaranteed. The Jets can save the money by cutting Marshall, but the receiver is willing to take a pay cut. "It's not about the money anymore," Marshall said. "It's all about winning."

Fantasy Tip: Marshall really regressed in 2016, largely due to inconsistent quarterback play. It's unclear who will start for the Jets next season, or if Marshall will even be back with the Jets. That being said, be cautious with his valuation. If he does return to New York, he should be tentatively viewed as a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3.

Jets | Brandon Marshall will not play

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 09:00:22 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip, shoulder) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 17 game.

Fantasy Tip: Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson probably will receive most of the targets during the game with Marshall out. Enunwa can be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option, while Anderson could be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Jets | Brandon Marshall questionable for Week 17

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 15:38:28 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip, shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has been held to under 35 yards in each of the last two games and has only one touchdown in his last 10 games. He has solid chemistry with Ryan Fitzpatrick but should only be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in most leagues.
