Giants | Brandon Marshall to continue playing

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 07:10:04 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) said he is not considering retirement and plans to play in 2018.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall will be under contract with the Giants next season but it is not known if he will remain with the team. He can be a No. 3 receiver for a team in 2018 but may be a No. 4 fantasy receiver in some leagues next year.

Giants | Brandon Marshall goes to IR

Tue, 10 Oct 2017 15:37:48 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Fantasy Tip: As was stated earlier, the Giants' receiving corps is as unenviable as they come in its current state. The bottom line is that anyone not named Sterling Shepard, who may miss this week, should not be started against the vaunted Denver Broncos defense.

Giants | Brandon Marshall to miss rest of season

Mon, 09 Oct 2017 20:56:28 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) announced that he will undergo season-ending surgery on his left ankle Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Initially, it was suspected that Marshall would only miss a few games at most, but given the Giants' horrific luck in Week 5, maybe this isn't such a surprise after all. It ends a nightmarish first season with Big Blue for the 33-year-old, as he had just 18 catches for 154 yards before going down for the year. Roger Lewis looks like a solid addition in most leagues now as a result, being in line to take over the No. 2 wide receiver duties by default.

Giants | Brandon Marshall expected to miss time

Mon, 09 Oct 2017 13:10:46 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) is expected to miss multiple games because of the ankle injury he suffered in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants probably will have more on Marshall's injury in the near future but it appears like he will miss at least one week. Sterling Shepard likely will be the team's top receiver if he is healthy and may be the only Giants receiver with fantasy value.

Giants | Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard injured

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 11:47:21 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) and WR Sterling Shepard (ankle) suffered ankle injuries in Week 5 and are considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Marshall or Shepard will be able to return to the game. The Giants should update their statuses after the game if they do not play again. Roger Lewis and Dwayne Harris are the only other receivers on the roster and are not great fantasy options.

Giants | Brandon Marshall practices in full

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 14:59:09 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (toe) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 6, and has been removed from the injury report ahead of Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall struggled in his first two games, posting just two grabs for 27 yards. He has been a lot more involved in the offense over the past two contests, posting 14 receptions, but his yardage is still rather limited. He remains a decent WR4 or flex option in PPR formats, with lesser value in standard play.

Giants | Friday's injury report for NYG

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 14:56:12 -0700

New York Giants OG John Jerry (hamstring), DE Avery Moss (shoulder), RB Paul Perkins (ribs), C Weston Richburg (concussion) and DE Olivier Vernon (ankle) did not practice Friday, Oct. 6. Perkins and Richburg were ruled out, while the others are considered questionable for Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers. DE Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder, knee) was limited and is questionable. WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle, finger) was limited, but removed from the injury report, while RB Orleans Darkwa (back), CB Janoris Jenkins (ankle) and WR Brandon Marshall (toe) practiced in full.

Giants | Full practice for Brandon Marshall

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 12:57:50 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (toe) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall started the season off slow but has recorded 14 receptions and 112 yards in the last two games. He will continue to have a solid role in the Giants' passing game and can be a flex option in most leagues.

Giants | NYG's starting receivers limited Wednesday

Wed, 04 Oct 2017 11:15:07 -0700

New York Giants WRs Odell Beckham Jr. (finger, ankle) and Brandon Marshall (toe) took part in a limited practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Both receivers have seen their production increase over the last two weeks as the Giants have cut down the amount of time Eli Manning is holding the ball, but it's a short-term solution to a long-term problem. The shift works fine for Beckham since he gets open so quickly and can create after the catch, but Marshall's eight yards per reception on his 14 scoreless catches over the last two weeks isn't exactly moving the needle. Beckham remains a WR1 for fantasy purposes, while Marshall is a WR4.

Giants | Brandon Marshall posts eight catches

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 16:34:48 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall managed eight receptions for 66 yards on 11 targets in Week 3 at Philadelphia.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall had his first meaningful production of the season, and that was with Odell Beckham Jr. healthy and Sterling Shepard also having a giant day. Marshall remains nothing more than a WR4 heading into Week 4 at Tampa Bay.

Giants | NYG could face compromised secondary

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 11:27:43 -0700

New York Giants WRs Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard could face a shorthanded Philadelphia Eagles defensive backfield in Week 3, as S Rodney McLeod (hamstring) and CB Jaylen Watkins (hamstring) are nursing hamstring injuries. The Eagles also lost CB Ronald Darby for four-to-six weeks with an ankle injury in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: While the likely absences of Darby, McLeod and Watkins should be a lift to the Giants' passing game, it remains to be seen whether or not the Giants' offensive line will give the receivers anytime to get open. It is also worth mentioning Philadelphia has one of the most talented and deepest defensive lines in the league. Given how poorly New York has performed offensively thus far, the odds seem long any receiver outside of Beckham is worth a start in fantasy this week or for the foreseeable future.

Giants | Brandon Marshall nearly invisible again

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 21:17:28 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall posted just one grab for 17 yards in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions on Monday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall was targeted five times, but the thing Giants fans and fantasy owners will remember is a key drop that was followed by a punt return for score by the Lions. Marshall has looked lost in his first two games with the Giants, and he has a total of two receptions. If not for his past production, fantasy owners would be dropping him to the waiver wire already. They might still be doing that.

Giants | Brandon Marshall quiet in team debut

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 22:08:38 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall managed just one reception for 10 yards in Week 1 at Dallas and he was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall was nearly invisible in his new uniform, securing his first catch in the final minute of regulation with the game well out of hand. It's not a good start for Marshall, who will look to rebound in Week 2 against Detroit. Don't push the panic button just yet.

Giants | Brandon Marshall ready for Week 1

Tue, 05 Sep 2017 09:32:17 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (shoulder) declared himself ready for Week 1 versus the Dallas Cowboys. Marshall missed about a week of practice and missed the team's last two preseason games after sustaining a shoulder injury on Aug. 21 against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall could be pegged for a feature role in the New York passing game this weekend if Odell Beckham is unable to go, and maybe even if he is if the Giants prefer to ease him in and use him as a decoy. At any rate, Marshall is a solid WR3 option in fantasy in what should be a voluminous passing game.

Giants | Brandon Marshall expects to play

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 17:46:18 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (shoulder) said he is feeling good and expects to play in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall missed some time in the preseason because of the injury but could be the top receiver for the Giants in Week 1 depending on the availability of Odell Beckham Jr. Marshall should be a reliable receiver for the Giants this season and can be a No. 3 fantasy receiver.

Giants | Brandon Marshall back at practice

Mon, 28 Aug 2017 11:20:04 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (shoulder) returned to Monday, Aug. 28. He did not play in Week 3 of the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like all systems go for Marshall with just two weeks until the regular season begins. There are a good number of mouths to feed in that offense, but Marshall is New York's No. 2 wide receiver. As such, he garners WR3 attention.

Giants | Brandon Marshall out Saturday

Sat, 26 Aug 2017 15:20:08 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (shoulder) is not playing Saturday, Aug. 26, against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall may be out for the final preseason games, but he should be good to go for the first regular-season contest. Keep an eye on the progress of Marshall, who is a decent WR2 option when healthy. He should post strong numbers in 2017.

Giants | Brandon Marshall not ruled out

Thu, 24 Aug 2017 15:28:25 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (shoulder) has not been ruled out for the third preseason game at this point, according to head coach Ben McAdoo. Marshall was present for practice Thursday, Aug. 24, but did not participate.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall probably will sit out the final two preseason game but should have a good chance to play in Week 1 unless he suffers a setback. Marshall likely will be one of the starting receivers for the Giants and will see a solid amount of targets. He can be considered a No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Giants | Brandon Marshall good to go

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 13:36:29 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (shoulder) is fine after injuring his shoulder against the Cleveland Browns Monday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is flying under the radar in his first offseason with the Giants. There is a surplus of mouths to feed in New York, but Marshall should see plenty of throws his way as the No. 2 receiver. As such, draft him as a WR3.

Mon, 21 Aug 2017 19:13:18 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during the preseason game Monday, Aug. 21, and is scheduled to undergo X-rays on his shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should know more about Marshall's injury in the near future, so they should monitor the situation. He will be one of the starting receivers for the Giants and should see a solid amount of targets. Marshall can be a solid No. 3 receiver for fantasy leagues.

Giants | Sterling Shepard excited for season

Sat, 22 Jul 2017 19:04:23 -0700

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard said he should be able to "feast" inside this season with WR Odell Beckham Jr. and WR Brandon Marshall occupying defenses on the outside.

Fantasy Tip: The addition of Marshall is going to take away some targets from Shepard, but the Giants throw the ball a lot. He was impressive as a rookie, especially in the red zone, and he will still have value as a WR5.

Giants | Brandon Marshall putting in extra work

Fri, 07 Jul 2017 11:21:14 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall has regularly used FaceTime to review plays and signals with QB Eli Manning in the six weeks players have off between minicamp and the start of training camp on July 27.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall reportedly has spent most of his offseason at the Giants' facility and made a very good impression on the team as a whole. Given New York's quick-hitting, pass-heavy offense approach, Marshall could conceivably see enough volume to be a serviceable WR2 in 2017, although owners should view him as a high-upside WR3.

Giants | Brandon Marshall to play a few more years

Sat, 06 May 2017 11:32:07 -0700

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall said he plans to play two more seasons before he retires.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall joined the Giants this offseason and will have a solid role in the passing game in 2017. He recorded 788 yards and three touchdowns this past season and should have a good chance to improve his stats this upcoming season. Owners in most leagues should consider Marshall a low-end No. 2 or a No. 3 receiver.

New York Giants QB Eli Manning said WR Brandon Marshall reminds him of former WR Plaxico Burress. "I was excited when we made that acquisition," Manning said. "He's obviously a big target and smart, asks a lot of questions, he's going to pick up the offense quickly."

Fantasy Tip: The move to the pass-heavy offense should revive Marshall's fantasy value. He should be able to deliver WR2 production in 2017.

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 06:41:24 -0800

Free-agent WR Brandon Marshall (Jets) agreed to a two-year, $12 million deal with the New York Giants Wednesday, March 8, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The soon-to-be 33-year-old will have a ton of talent around him with Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard also running routes. Marshall's fantasy value should take a hit with only so many targets to go around, but he's still a rock-solid WR2.

Patriots | New England could target Brandon Marshall

Sat, 04 Mar 2017 10:02:46 -0800

Impending free-agent WR Brandon Marshall (Jets) and the New England Patriots appear to have "mutual interest", according to Boston Globe's Ben Volin.

Fantasy Tip: Turning 33 later this month, Marshall undoubtedly would like to play in a playoff game for the first time in his career, much less try to get a Super Bowl ring. The Patriots could be a potential suitor if Marshall doesn't seek too much money, but he seems like a much better bet to end up with either the New York Giants or Baltimore Ravens. Should he end up in New England, Marshall would struggle to be a WR3 in fantasy.

Ravens | Brandon Marshall an option for BAL?

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 07:10:49 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall dropped seven passes this past season, according to ESPN Stats and Information.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's future with the Jets is uncertain at this point, so owners will need to monitor the situation. He finished this season with 59 receptions, 788 yards and three touchdowns. Marshall probably will be a starting receiver for a team in 2017 and could be a No. 3 fantasy receiver.

Jets | Good chance Brandon Marshall is cut

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 06:22:55 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall has about a 60 percent chance of being cut this offseason, in the opinion of The Star-Ledger's Darryl Slater.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall went from the best season of his career to the worst since his rookie season. He turns 33 next month, and there appears to be plenty still in the tank. However, that WR1 window has probably closed. He'd be a solid WR2 candidate in a better situation.

Sat, 11 Feb 2017 17:21:07 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said he will "absolutely" change his leadership style after his vocal approach caused friction in the locker room in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall could end up being released in the offseason, and if he lands with a better offense, he could still be a WR2 candidate. If he is back with the Jets, he shouldn't be trusted as more than a WR3.

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said he believes he will be back with the Jets in 2017 because the organization has not given him any indication that he will not return.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is scheduled to count $7.5 million against the salary cap in 2017 but he could be released since the team would save that amount of cap space. Owners will need to keep an eye on his situation because he could have more value based on his team. Marshall likely will start no matter where he plays and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver.

Thu, 02 Feb 2017 18:25:53 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall could be targeted by the Baltimore Ravens if Marshall is released because he is the type of veteran receiver general manager Ozzie Newsome has pursued in the past, according to beat writer Jeff Zrebiec.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's 2016 campaign was derailed by injuries and the lack of quality quarterback play, but he could jump back into the WR2 mix if he lands in Baltimore.

Jets | Brandon Marshall not open to pay cut

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 17:57:43 -0800

Contrary to a report earlier this month, New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall is not open to accepting a pay cut. He is set to make $7.5 million in 2017, the final season of a three-year, $26 million contract. "People need to get away from (my being) due $7.5 million. Get away from my salary. That's underpaid. Any team should be happy to have me for $7.5 million," Marshall told WFAN radio's Boomer and Carton Show on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: According to ESPN, Marshall's 2017 salary is tied for 13th among receivers in terms of actual cash payout. The 32-year-old (33 in March) probably isn't going to repeat 2015 again (109 catches, 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns), but nagging injuries and poor quarterback play make him look a lot worse than what he was in 2016 (59 catches, 788 yards and three TDs). With an upgrade at quarterback this off-season, Marshall could return to the WR2 ranks.

Jets | Brandon Marshall open to pay cut

Mon, 02 Jan 2017 15:16:37 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall is set to make $7.5 million next season, but none of that money is guaranteed. The Jets can save the money by cutting Marshall, but the receiver is willing to take a pay cut. "It's not about the money anymore," Marshall said. "It's all about winning."

Fantasy Tip: Marshall really regressed in 2016, largely due to inconsistent quarterback play. It's unclear who will start for the Jets next season, or if Marshall will even be back with the Jets. That being said, be cautious with his valuation. If he does return to New York, he should be tentatively viewed as a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3.

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 09:00:22 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip, shoulder) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 17 game.

Jets | Brandon Marshall angered teammates

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 20:41:59 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip) reported delivered a halftime rant in the Week 16 game against the New England Patriots that irked some teammates, according to team sources. It might be one of the reasons DE Sheldon Richardson ripped Marshall after the blowout loss.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has irked fantasy owners lately, posting just 10 catches for 120 yards and no touchdowns over the past four games, and he has no 100-yard games and just one touchdown over the past 10 outings. If you're still playing fantasy into Week 17, Marshall can be trusted as nothing more than a low-end WR3.

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 07:20:10 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (shoulder, back) is expected to play in Week 16's game against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall was a limited practice participant throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He makes a risky fantasy option due to the Jets' shaky quarterback situation, combined with the possibility that he could see a limited number of snaps. Marshall should not be viewed as anything more than a WR3 or flex option in most formats.
