Bears | Brandon Marshall unhappy with QB

Sun, 19 Oct 2014 15:09:39 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall called out QB Jay Cutler in a heated locker room discussion after the team's Week 7 loss against the Miami Dolphins, a source said Sunday, Oct. 19. The source said there "are some very selfish individuals in the locker room." But it's not out of the ordinary for Marshall to strongly voice his opinion to Cutler, as the two are close friends off the field. Marshall also reportedly yelled at PK Robbie Gould.

Fantasy Tip: The argument shouldn't affect fantasy values any, and it is just part of football, competition and losing. If the Bears won this game, obviously things would be just fine.

Bears | Brandon Marshall's injury was serious

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 14:21:27 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) said that the ankle injury he suffered in Week 1 should have kept him out for around four weeks, but he battled through it and convinced the team to continue letting him play. He caught three touchdowns in Week 2, but has just six catches in three games since. "So last week was the first week where we really had a chance to get me involved," Marshall said. "The first two weeks, the doctors ruled me out. They said I wasn't going to play and I went to them and said, 'Just make it a game-time decision.'" Head coach Marc Trestman has acknowledged that Marshall has noticeably improved in the last two weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall and the Bears have a tasty matchup against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend. If Marshall is back to full health (he's not on the injury report), he could bounce back in a big way. He'll cost you $7,500 (15.0% of cap).

Bears | Brandon Marshall needs more touches

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 13:21:46 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall needs more touches, according to head coach Marc Trestman. Marshall saw just five targets in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: It may have just been an anomaly, but the five targets are concerning. TE Martellus Bennett and WR Alshon Jeffery have been doing very well this year, which has hurt Marshall's value somewhat. That being said, Marshall is still a WR1 option going forward as long as he's healthy.

Bears | Brandon Marshall feeling better

Sat, 04 Oct 2014 10:20:55 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) is feeling better about his hampered ankle injury. Marshall said he feels more explosive and feels like he can "do pretty much everything."

Fantasy Tip: The injury negatively impacted Marshall last week, so this is certainly good news. He'll look to return to old form against the Carolina Panthers in Week 5 and is priced at $7,500 on FantasyScore.

Bears | Brandon Marshall probable for Week 5

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 11:31:01 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall will play against the Panthers, but you have to be concerned about his recent outings while playing banged up. At a price of $7,500 (15.0% of cap), Marshall may once again find it tough to return a profit for you at FantasyScore.

Bears | Full practice for Brandon Marshall

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 14:14:37 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: This is great news for Marshall, who appears to be getting past his ankle injury. Even though he hasn't done much the last few weeks while fighting his ailment, Marshall will still cost you $7,500 (15.0% of cap) at FantasyScore against the Carolina Panthers.

Bears | No restrictions for Brandon Marshall

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 15:08:12 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) practiced without restrictions Wednesday, Oct. 1, for the first time in a while. "It was good to get him (Marshall) back out there at full speed," head coach Marc Trestman said.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's nagging ankle injury has limited him to just three catches for 25 yards and a score the last two weeks. The fact that he's back to a full practice early in the week is an encouraging sign that he'll put up better numbers in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers. However, start him at your own risk at FantasyScore.

Bears | Brandon Marshall questionable

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 11:31:23 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 26, and is questionable for the team's Week 4 game.

Fantasy Tip: If Marshall can't go, look for increased roles for Alshon Jeffery and Matt Forte. The match up against the Packers is a nice one, but the cost of $8,200 in FantasyScore may be a bit of a risk.

Bears | Brandon Marshall not practicing

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 13:52:38 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) did not practice for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's ankle injury isn't serious, but it required him to leave the game for a period of time in Week 3, and it kept him to only one catch in that Monday night affair. He'll likely be questionable again in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers. The matchup is nice, but if his ankle is still bothering him, playing him at $8,200 at FantasyScore is a risk.

Bears | Brandon Marshall not on practice field

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 13:51:57 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall had just one catch for six yards in Week 3, as his ankle limited him severely and caused him to come out of the game for a bit. Continue to monitor his status throughout the week. He has an excellent matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Week 4, but if his ankle is still bothering him, he may not be a smart play at FantasyScore.

Bears | Brandon Marshall has quiet night

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 23:23:32 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) was held to just one catch for six yards in the team's Week 3 win over the New York Jets Monday, Sept. 22. Marshall was limited with a sore ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's ankle definitely was responsible for his lack of production Monday night, and he even left the game shortly. Moving forward, you have to wonder how much of an impact his injury will play.

Bears | Brandon Marshall returns in second half

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 19:22:25 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) was back on the field in the second half after leaving the team's Week 3 contest Monday, Sept. 22, with an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall actually had a touchdown reception called back because of a penalty on Chicago's first possession of the second half and showed no ill effects from the injury. It's still worth checking his status during the week, but for now, Marshall looks like a safe play in FantasyScore for Week 4.

Bears | Brandon Marshall to locker room

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 18:57:44 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) went to the locker room after injuring his ankle in the team's Week 3 game Monday, Sept. 22, and his return has been downgraded to questionable after the team originally announced his return as probable.

Fantasy Tip: The situation is definitely worth monitoring at this point after the downgrade. Marshall has a solid matchup in Week 4 against a Houston secondary that was torched in Week 3 by Eli Manning, but make sure Marshall's ankle injury isn't going to be an issue before paying for him at FantasyScore.

Bears | Brandon Marshall expected to go

Sun, 21 Sep 2014 08:05:00 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) is expected to play Monday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($8,100; 16.2% of your cap) is one of the most expensive plays on FantasyScore this week. He exploded last week with Alshon Jeffery (ankle) gimpy. The New York Jets are likely to be without CB Dee Milliner (ankle, quadriceps), and Marshall could have a good matchup depending on how the Jets plan to attack the Bears' offense.

Bears | Brandon Marshall questionable

Sat, 20 Sep 2014 11:04:21 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Bears | Brandon Marshall expected to play

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 14:13:07 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) was out for the second straight day Friday, Sept. 19, but he's expected to play in Week 3 against the New York Jets Monday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall will cost you a pretty penny ($8,100; 16.2% of salary cap) at FantasyScore against the Jets, but he might be worth it.

Bears | Brandon Marshall doesn't practice

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 14:52:48 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: After being questionable yet playing and excelling in Week 2, we'd be surprised if Marshall didn't suit up in Week 3 on Monday night against the New York Jets. He'll be expensive again at FantasyScore ($8,100), but it could be worth the investment against a weak NY secondary.

Bears | Brandon Marshall scores three TDs

Sun, 14 Sep 2014 20:35:25 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) scored three touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Apparently the ankle is fine, as he looked to have no problem getting into the end zone, including a highlight reel one-handed snare for one of the scores. Feel confident starting him in FantasyScore leagues going forward.

Fri, 12 Sep 2014 13:06:27 -0700

However, he participated in the walk-through portion of practice. Head coach Marc Trestman said the team will continue to monitor Marshall's progress. Marshall said that he plans to play.

Fantasy Tip: We would be surprised if Marshall didn't suit up in Week 2, but you'll want to check back Sunday afternoon. He's the second-most expensive receiver at FantasyScore ($7,600; 15.2% of cap), so you might want to avoid him anyway.

But maybe [I'll play until I'm] 36 years old. Who knows? "I'm trying to pass Cris Carter in everything. I don't think I have it in me to go for Jerry [Rice]. That's 20 years I would have to play. Maybe with modern medicine and all this new technology, I could potentially play that long, but I've had three hip surgeries. I'm just asking for six more [years in the league]."
