Jets | Brandon Marshall working with QB

Sun, 10 May 2015 07:18:46 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said has been living with QB Geno Smith for time being, and the two players have been working on learning the offense. Marshall is expected to stay with Smith until late June when he finds his own place to live.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall and Smith should both benefit from working together now when the season begins. Marshall did see his stats drop this past season but he could still be a middle-round pick for owners. Smith finished off the 2014 strong but probably will not be more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Jets | Geno Smith working with new WR

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 10:13:54 -0700

New York Jets QB Geno Smith said he has been working with WR Brandon Marshall in order to start building chemistry with him. Smith has also worked with throwing coach Tom House in California this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Smith is probably the leading candidate for the starting quarterback job at this point, but he is expected to compete with Ryan Fitzpatrick in training camp and could also compete with a draft pick. Smith played well near the end of the season but probably would not be more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he wins the job. Marshall probably will be an option in the middle rounds of drafts since he is still a solid receiver.

Jets | HC confident in Brandon Marshall

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 10:40:26 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall could be in line for a breakout season in 2015, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said he thinks Marshall remains a "top-flight receiver." "He understands the game. He's a student of the game. He understands when he has small guys on him. He can get vertical when he needs to get vertical. He's a sharp route runner. He has great hands. He knows how to block. He brings a work ethic and he brings a fire to us that we need on the other side of the ball," Bowles said.

Fantasy Tip: Because of the switch from Jay Cutler to Geno Smith (and maybe Ryan Fitzpatrick) alone, Marshall's fantasy value will sleep to more of a WR2 in New York. However, if Marshall and whoever starts at QB for the Jets develop chemistry, there remains upside, and he could still be very valuable in point-per-reception formats.

Jets | Brandon Marshall passes physical

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 06:57:14 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall passed his physical, and the trade sending him to the New York Jets will become official Tuesday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is a volatile fantasy option in 2015. He turns 31 in March, and the Jets' quarterback situation was hideous last season. While we believe he could net 1,000 yards in his sleep, the injury-riddled '14 and lackluster QB situation make us nervous using an early pick on him as a WR2.

Jets | Brandon Marshall may make more money

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 14:35:16 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall will receive the opportunity to make more than the $15.8 million he was scheduled to make over the next two seasons after his contract was restructured as part of his trade to the Jets, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall probably will lose some value with his move to the Jets but should still be an option for owners in fantasy drafts. Marshall probably should be considered as a No. 2 receiver in drafts next season.

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 08:14:33 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall will be traded to the New York Jets, pending a physical, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall will still have some value in 2015, but it is tough to see him as more than a WR2, especially with the uncertainty at the quarterback position with the Jets.

Bears | Brandon Marshall seems unlikely to return

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 06:39:18 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall is being shopped for a mid-round draft pick, and sources indicate that the Bears could release Marshall if they can't strike a deal.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is a very good WR2 in fantasy, but we're not comfortable anointing him the top spot on the roster anymore.

Bears | Brandon Marshall being shopped

Thu, 05 Mar 2015 08:20:41 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall is being shopped by the team with the idea of trading him, according to a league source. Another league source said his belief is that the team is taking calls on Marshall. The team could move Marshall for a mid-round pick.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall was slowed by injuries in 2014, but there is no reason to think he can't rebound in 2015 and be a low-end WR1 or a WR2, depending on where he lands.

Bears | HC non-committal on Brandon Marshall

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 11:27:49 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall's standing with the team for the upcoming season may be in question, but new head coach John Fox was non-committal about Marshall when asked Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall may be losing a step or two as he's on the wrong side of 30. However, injuries likely were a big reason for his disappointing 2014 season. he can easily bounce back and be a solid midrange WR1 in 2015, no matter where he's playing.

Bears | Brandon Marshall may not return

Fri, 30 Jan 2015 07:32:22 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall may not return to the team in 2015, in the opinion of ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright. The thinking is that Marshall and WR Alshon Jeffery are too similar of receivers, and the team needs more diversity at the position. Wright also wrote that this was strictly a possibility, and he expects Marshall to be on the team in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall had a slew of injuries in '14, and he'll be 31 in March. Will he be a bounce-back candidate or is this the beginning of his decline? We think he'll bounce back, but his 100-1,295-12 days may be over. Look for him as a low-end WR1 or an elite WR2 in traditional leagues next season.

Bears | Brandon Marshall talks Jay Cutler

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 12:59:51 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall recently said he would have buyer's remorse regarding the team paying QB Jay Cutler a seven-year, $126 deal. However, Marshall did add that the blame for the Bears' offensive struggles doesn't solely lie on Cutler's shoulders. "It doesn't always fall on him. I guess that's why those guys are the highest paid players out there. Because when you win and everything is going good, they get all the glory. And when it's bad, they take more [blame] than what they should take.

Fantasy Tip: Despite Cutler's on-field shortcomings, he does have a superb matchup versus the New Orleans Saints this week. He'll cost $6,300 on FantasyScore if you want to plug him in your lineups. Marquess Wilson, Marshall's replacement, is also a nice option at just $3,000.

Bears | Brandon Marshall supports Jay Cutler

Mon, 08 Dec 2014 20:11:05 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall said he supports QB Jay Cutler, but he also said that he doesn't understand why the team's offense has been so out of sync this season.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has suffered through the worst season since his rookie year, and while he is out for the year, the fantasy value of all Chicago's remaining offensive weapons is likely to continue to fluctuate over the final weeks as the Bears continue to play inconsistent football.

Mon, 08 Dec 2014 12:46:26 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ribs, lung) was officially placed on Reserve/Injured Monday, Dec. 8. He is done for the year.

Bears | Brandon Marshall's season over

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 12:54:55 -0800

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ribs, lung) will miss the rest of the season after breaking two ribs and suffering a collapsed lung in Week 14 Thursday, Dec. 4. Marshall remains in a hospital Friday, Dec. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Alshon Jeffery and Martellus Bennett will benefit generously in the final four games of the season without Marshall. Marquess Wilson is expected to fill in for Marshall, but he's a flier in deep leagues and a desperation FantasyScore play moving forward.

Bears | Brandon Marshall out at least a week

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 11:37:46 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ribs) suffered two broken ribs in Week 14 Thursday, Dec. 4, and he also injured his lung. Marshall remains in the hospital, and he'll at least miss the team's Week 15 game against the New Orleans Saints, and possibly more.

Fantasy Tip: It's a tough break for those relying on Marshall in the fantasy playoffs. You can forget about him for a while at FantasyScore, as well. This will boost the values of Alshon Jeffery and Martellus Bennett significantly, although Jay Cutler takes a hit in what has already been a very inconsistent season for him. Take a peak at Marquess Wilson in very deep leagues.

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 13:54:41 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) was limited in practice for the third straight day Wednesday, Nov. 26, but is probable for Week 13 against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($6,900) should be fine to play on Thanksgiving. However, it may be tough for him to provide you with a nice return on your FantasyScore investment. He's facing the Detroit Lions, who have allowed only an average of 18.23 fantasy points to receivers all year.

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) would have been limited had the team practiced Monday, Nov. 24. The practice status is based on estimation had the team actually practiced.

Fantasy Tip: Even on a short week, the fact that Marshall would have been limited is still promising considering he still has two full days to prepare for Thursday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 13:06:36 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Both Marshall ($6,900) and Jeffery ($7,100) are solid options for your FantasyScore lineup this weekend against the Bucs. Tampa Bay allows the third-most fantasy points to wideouts per game at 26.54.

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall posted seven receptions for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) appears to have a good chance to play in Week 11 despite his ankle injury, according to head coach Marc Trestman.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor his practice participation during the week to see if he is on track to play in Week 11. Marshall is coming off a good Week 10 performance but has had an up and down season. Marshall could be a starting option this upcoming week if he is active for the game.

Mon, 10 Nov 2014 07:20:06 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) said he might miss some practice time this week, but he doesn't expect to miss the Week 11 game.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall got hurt earlier this season and dropped three touchdowns the next game. He's a difference maker, but he hasn't been the same kind of consistent cog in fantasy. His touchdown in Week 10 was his first one in five games. Keep an eye on his practice time.

Bears | Brandon Marshall unhappy with QB

Sun, 19 Oct 2014 15:09:39 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall called out QB Jay Cutler in a heated locker room discussion after the team's Week 7 loss against the Miami Dolphins, a source said Sunday, Oct. 19. The source said there "are some very selfish individuals in the locker room." But it's not out of the ordinary for Marshall to strongly voice his opinion to Cutler, as the two are close friends off the field. Marshall also reportedly yelled at PK Robbie Gould.

Fantasy Tip: The argument shouldn't affect fantasy values any, and it is just part of football, competition and losing. If the Bears won this game, obviously things would be just fine.

Bears | Brandon Marshall's injury was serious

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 14:21:27 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) said that the ankle injury he suffered in Week 1 should have kept him out for around four weeks, but he battled through it and convinced the team to continue letting him play. He caught three touchdowns in Week 2, but has just six catches in three games since. "So last week was the first week where we really had a chance to get me involved," Marshall said. "The first two weeks, the doctors ruled me out. They said I wasn't going to play and I went to them and said, 'Just make it a game-time decision.'" Head coach Marc Trestman has acknowledged that Marshall has noticeably improved in the last two weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall and the Bears have a tasty matchup against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend. If Marshall is back to full health (he's not on the injury report), he could bounce back in a big way. He'll cost you $7,500 (15.0% of cap).

Bears | Brandon Marshall needs more touches

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 13:21:46 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall needs more touches, according to head coach Marc Trestman. Marshall saw just five targets in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: It may have just been an anomaly, but the five targets are concerning. TE Martellus Bennett and WR Alshon Jeffery have been doing very well this year, which has hurt Marshall's value somewhat. That being said, Marshall is still a WR1 option going forward as long as he's healthy.

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) is feeling better about his hampered ankle injury. Marshall said he feels more explosive and feels like he can "do pretty much everything."

Fantasy Tip: The injury negatively impacted Marshall last week, so this is certainly good news. He'll look to return to old form against the Carolina Panthers in Week 5 and is priced at $7,500 on FantasyScore.

Bears | No restrictions for Brandon Marshall

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) practiced without restrictions Wednesday, Oct. 1, for the first time in a while. "It was good to get him (Marshall) back out there at full speed," head coach Marc Trestman said.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's nagging ankle injury has limited him to just three catches for 25 yards and a score the last two weeks. The fact that he's back to a full practice early in the week is an encouraging sign that he'll put up better numbers in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers. However, start him at your own risk at FantasyScore.

Bears | Brandon Marshall not practicing

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 13:52:38 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) did not practice for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's ankle injury isn't serious, but it required him to leave the game for a period of time in Week 3, and it kept him to only one catch in that Monday night affair. He'll likely be questionable again in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers. The matchup is nice, but if his ankle is still bothering him, playing him at $8,200 at FantasyScore is a risk.

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 13:51:57 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall had just one catch for six yards in Week 3, as his ankle limited him severely and caused him to come out of the game for a bit. Continue to monitor his status throughout the week. He has an excellent matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Week 4, but if his ankle is still bothering him, he may not be a smart play at FantasyScore.

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) was held to just one catch for six yards in the team's Week 3 win over the New York Jets Monday, Sept. 22. Marshall was limited with a sore ankle.

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) was back on the field in the second half after leaving the team's Week 3 contest Monday, Sept. 22, with an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall actually had a touchdown reception called back because of a penalty on Chicago's first possession of the second half and showed no ill effects from the injury. It's still worth checking his status during the week, but for now, Marshall looks like a safe play in FantasyScore for Week 4.

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) went to the locker room after injuring his ankle in the team's Week 3 game Monday, Sept. 22, and his return has been downgraded to questionable after the team originally announced his return as probable.

Fantasy Tip: The situation is definitely worth monitoring at this point after the downgrade. Marshall has a solid matchup in Week 4 against a Houston secondary that was torched in Week 3 by Eli Manning, but make sure Marshall's ankle injury isn't going to be an issue before paying for him at FantasyScore.
