Jets | Good chance Brandon Marshall is cut

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 06:22:55 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall has about a 60 percent chance of being cut this offseason, in the opinion of The Star-Ledger's Darryl Slater.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall went from the best season of his career to the worst since his rookie season. He turns 33 next month, and there appears to be plenty still in the tank. However, that WR1 window has probably closed. He'd be a solid WR2 candidate in a better situation.

Jets | Brandon Marshall plans to change style

Sat, 11 Feb 2017 17:21:07 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said he will "absolutely" change his leadership style after his vocal approach caused friction in the locker room in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall could end up being released in the offseason, and if he lands with a better offense, he could still be a WR2 candidate. If he is back with the Jets, he shouldn't be trusted as more than a WR3.

Jets | Brandon Marshall thinks he will return

Wed, 08 Feb 2017 15:34:31 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said he believes he will be back with the Jets in 2017 because the organization has not given him any indication that he will not return.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is scheduled to count $7.5 million against the salary cap in 2017 but he could be released since the team would save that amount of cap space. Owners will need to keep an eye on his situation because he could have more value based on his team. Marshall likely will start no matter where he plays and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver.

Ravens | Brandon Marshall a fit in Baltimore?

Thu, 02 Feb 2017 18:25:53 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall could be targeted by the Baltimore Ravens if Marshall is released because he is the type of veteran receiver general manager Ozzie Newsome has pursued in the past, according to beat writer Jeff Zrebiec.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's 2016 campaign was derailed by injuries and the lack of quality quarterback play, but he could jump back into the WR2 mix if he lands in Baltimore.

Jets | Brandon Marshall not open to pay cut

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 17:57:43 -0800

Contrary to a report earlier this month, New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall is not open to accepting a pay cut. He is set to make $7.5 million in 2017, the final season of a three-year, $26 million contract. "People need to get away from (my being) due $7.5 million. Get away from my salary. That's underpaid. Any team should be happy to have me for $7.5 million," Marshall told WFAN radio's Boomer and Carton Show on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: According to ESPN, Marshall's 2017 salary is tied for 13th among receivers in terms of actual cash payout. The 32-year-old (33 in March) probably isn't going to repeat 2015 again (109 catches, 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns), but nagging injuries and poor quarterback play make him look a lot worse than what he was in 2016 (59 catches, 788 yards and three TDs). With an upgrade at quarterback this off-season, Marshall could return to the WR2 ranks.

Jets | Brandon Marshall open to pay cut

Mon, 02 Jan 2017 15:16:37 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall is set to make $7.5 million next season, but none of that money is guaranteed. The Jets can save the money by cutting Marshall, but the receiver is willing to take a pay cut. "It's not about the money anymore," Marshall said. "It's all about winning."

Fantasy Tip: Marshall really regressed in 2016, largely due to inconsistent quarterback play. It's unclear who will start for the Jets next season, or if Marshall will even be back with the Jets. That being said, be cautious with his valuation. If he does return to New York, he should be tentatively viewed as a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3.

Jets | Brandon Marshall will not play

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 09:00:22 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip, shoulder) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 17 game.

Fantasy Tip: Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson probably will receive most of the targets during the game with Marshall out. Enunwa can be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option, while Anderson could be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Jets | Brandon Marshall questionable for Week 17

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 15:38:28 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip, shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has been held to under 35 yards in each of the last two games and has only one touchdown in his last 10 games. He has solid chemistry with Ryan Fitzpatrick but should only be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in most leagues.

Jets | Brandon Marshall not at practice

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 13:37:44 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip, shoulder) missed practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Shoddy quarterback play and injuries derailed Marshall's 2016 campaign. He could very well sit this week in a meaningless final game. Marshall is a risk if active, but there is a sliver of hope with Ryan Fitzpatrick back at quarterback.

Jets | Brandon Marshall angered teammates

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 20:41:59 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip) reported delivered a halftime rant in the Week 16 game against the New England Patriots that irked some teammates, according to team sources. It might be one of the reasons DE Sheldon Richardson ripped Marshall after the blowout loss.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has irked fantasy owners lately, posting just 10 catches for 120 yards and no touchdowns over the past four games, and he has no 100-yard games and just one touchdown over the past 10 outings. If you're still playing fantasy into Week 17, Marshall can be trusted as nothing more than a low-end WR3.

Jets | No practice for Brandon Marshall

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 14:34:15 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip, shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has dealt with various injuries over the last few weeks but has been able to play each week and probably will be active in Week 17. He has posted at least 50 yards in only one of his last seven games and probably should only be a flex option.

Jets | Brandon Marshall not at practice

Tue, 27 Dec 2016 10:20:11 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Dec. 27.

Fantasy Tip: With Ryan Fitzpatrick named the starter for Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills, Marshall is back in play as a WR3 if he can go, although there are likely more high-upside options.

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 13:34:27 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall caught two passes for 28 yards against the New England Patriots in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has been dealing with various injuries over the last few weeks and has not received his normal workload. He does have some chemistry with Ryan Fitzpatrick but should only be considered a flex option if he plays in Week 17.

Jets | Brandon Marshall expected to play

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 07:20:10 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (shoulder, back) is expected to play in Week 16's game against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall was a limited practice participant throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He makes a risky fantasy option due to the Jets' shaky quarterback situation, combined with the possibility that he could see a limited number of snaps. Marshall should not be viewed as anything more than a WR3 or flex option in most formats.

Jets | Brandon Marshall questionable

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 15:54:23 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (back, shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has struggled at times this season and has under 50 yards in four of the last five games. He may see limited snaps during the game because of the injury but can still be a No. 3 receiver or flex option for owners.

Jets | Brandon Marshall limited

Thu, 22 Dec 2016 13:54:51 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (shoulder, back) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall's disappointing season probably won't get any better over the final two weeks. He's been nagged by injuries and now has Bryce Petty under center. Don't view Marshall as more than a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3, which may even be pushing it.

Jets | Brandon Marshall listed as limited

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 13:46:58 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (back, shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall struggled in Week 15 when he caught only one of the 11 passes thrown to him and finished with 16 yards in the game. He may see limited snaps because of his injury and may only be a flex option in leagues because of the team's quarterback situation.

Jets | One catch for Brandon Marshall

Sat, 17 Dec 2016 20:58:15 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall finished with one catch for 16 yards and two drops in a 34-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins Saturday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets poor quarterback play has hurt Marshall's numbers and fantasy value, and the drops could be a sign that frustration has taken over. He is a WR4 at this point.

Jets | Brandon Marshall giving it a go

Sat, 17 Dec 2016 16:22:13 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (knee, foot, back) will play through a questionable tag in Week 15 versus the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall already said earlier this week he's going to be on a "pitch count" and he is likely to be shadowed by Byron Maxwell, who has graded out as the 15th-best cornerback per Pro Football Focus. He should be benched in fantasy. His presence, however, should allow Robby Anderson to continue bathing in the incredible 30-plus percent target share he has seen since Bryce Petty became the starting quarterback.

Jets | Brandon Marshall tabbed questionable

Fri, 16 Dec 2016 12:04:28 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (knee, foot, back) is being listed as questionable to play in the team's Week 15 game Saturday, Dec. 17, against the Miami Dolphins. He was limited in practice for the third consecutive day Friday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately, with Bryce Petty under center, Marshall hasn't been able to provide much production for his owners at this critical juncture of the fantasy campaign. Not only that, he's apparently playing through three different ailments, and even if he does suit up, he'll be on a snap count. All things considered, he's a bit of a dicey WR3 for standard leagues this weekend.

Jets | Brandon Marshall limited

Thu, 15 Dec 2016 14:08:17 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (knee, foot, back) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 15.

Fantasy Tip: It has already been reported that Marshall will be on a snap count this week. That combined with the fact that Bryce Petty is throwing to him makes Marshall benchable, as tough as it is to admit.

Jets | Brandon Marshall will see limited snaps

Thu, 15 Dec 2016 11:51:19 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (back, foot, knee) said he will be on a snap count in Week 15 and will not receive his usual workload.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is dealing with several injuries but will still have a role in the passing game. He is working with an inexperienced quarterback, which hurts his fantasy value. Marshall can be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in most leagues.

Jets | Brandon Marshall limited

Wed, 14 Dec 2016 14:23:03 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (back, foot, knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has been pretty quiet over the last a few months and has been held to under 50 yards in five of his last seven games. He will continue to be a solid part of the team's passing game but should be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option because of the quarterback situation.

Jets | Brandon Marshall may be returner

Sat, 10 Dec 2016 11:10:21 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall could be used as a punt returner in Week 14 since WR Jalin Marshall (concussion) has been ruled out for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall probably would only see a few chances if he is used as a punt returner because he is too valuable to the offense. Marshall's value will be affected with Bryce Petty as the starting quarterback but can still be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option.

Jets | Brandon Marshall practices in full again

Fri, 09 Dec 2016 12:08:18 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (knee, foot) was a full participant in practice Friday, Dec. 9.

Fantasy Tip: He'll be out there on Sunday, but unfortunately, it won't be with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center. Marshall's value and ceiling take a considerable hit with Bryce Petty as the starting quarterback, though he's still worth plugging in fantasy lineups as a WR2. Owners in the postseason just have to hope the offensive unit can bounce back from Monday night's atrocity.

Jets | Brandon Marshall full go

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 15:10:12 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (knee, foot) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is the Jets' top target, but he'll have Bryce Petty throwing to him this week. That might be worse than having Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing his way. Still, Marshall is a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 consideration, but don't have high expectations.

Jets | Brandon Marshall takes part in practice

Wed, 07 Dec 2016 15:09:16 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot, knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall will be working with a new quarterback in Week 14, so it is not known how his targets will be affective be the move. Owners in point-per-reception leagues can consider Marshall a No. 3 receiver or a flex option. Marshall could be a flex option in standard leagues.

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 21:41:46 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall posted four receptions for 43 yards on eight targets in the Week 13 game against the Indianapolis Colts Monday, Dec. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Like most other Jets, it was a difficult night for Marshall. He will look to rebound in next weekend's game in San Francisco. He remains a top-flight fantasy option despite the disappointment Monday night.

Jets | Brandon Marshall on track to play

Sat, 03 Dec 2016 13:51:07 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot, ankle) fully participated in practice Saturday, Dec. 3, and is not on the injury report for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall should receive his normal workload and will be targeted often during the game. He has been a bit inconsistent over the last few weeks but is coming off a 67-yard performance when he also caught a touchdown. Marshall should be a solid No. 2 wide receiver in all leagues.

Jets | Brandon Marshall not at practice Friday

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 10:31:47 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (knee, foot) missed his second consecutive practice Friday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets play the Indianapolis Colts on Monday, so he has a bit more time than usual. Marshall's designation on the injury report later today is worth keeping an eye on, although it is hard to believe he'll miss this game after some of the ailments he has played with already this season. Unless he suffers a significant setback of some sort, consider him a high-volume WR2 with a favorable Week 13 matchup.

Jets | Brandon Marshall doesn't practice

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 21:01:17 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (knee, foot) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is expected to be able to play Monday night, and he should be a quality WR2 in Week 13 against the Colts, who could be playing with a hobbled Vontae Davis.

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 14:15:16 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 25, and is not on the injury report for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has been held to four catches or less in four of his last five games and does not have a touchdown during that span. He will continue to be the No. 1 receiver no matter the quarterback, but fantasy owners should consider him a No. 2 receiver in their lineups.

Jets | Brandon Marshall limited Thursday

Thu, 24 Nov 2016 14:30:13 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall will play, but he'll have Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing to him again. Fitzpatrick has really hindered Marshall's output this year, but Marshall is still a WR2 play this week.

Jets | Brandon Marshall is full participant

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 14:49:25 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) was able to practice in full Friday, Nov. 11, and he is expected to play in the Week 10 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall will be facing the league's ninth-ranked pass defense, and Ryan Fitzpatrick is a game-time decision. If Bryce Petty makes his first NFL start, Marshall's fantasy appeal takes a hit. Treat him as more of a low-end WR2 or even flex play in that scenario.

Jets | Limited practice for Brandon Marshall

Thu, 10 Nov 2016 15:42:28 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Erratic quarterback play and plenty of touchdowns from Matt Forte have given Marshall a down year so far. He has not scored or surpassed 70 yards in his last four games and has only scored twice on the season. Marshall can no longer be considered a weekly WR1, but he is in the WR2 conversation.

Jets | Brandon Marshall practices in full

Wed, 09 Nov 2016 17:10:15 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall should receive his usual amount of targets despite the injury. He has been held to four catches or less in five of the last seven games but has posted decent receiving yards during that span. He should be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall posted three receptions for a game-high 59 yards and a touchdown in the Week 9 game against the Miami Dolphins. He was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall struggled in a game which was surprisingly hard on the passing game. He'll look to get back on track against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10. Despite the mediocre line Marshall remains a must-start in all fantasy formats.

Jets | Brandon Marshall practices in full

Thu, 03 Nov 2016 13:01:11 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is in no danger of missing this week's game and will continue to be the team's No. 1 receiver. He should be considered a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Jets | Brandon Marshall has full practice

Wed, 02 Nov 2016 15:25:45 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has kind of sputtered over the last three weeks, managing no more than four catches or 70 yards in any of those contests. The success of Matt Forte and Quincy Enunwa hasn't helped Marshall's cause, but look for Marshall to rebound against a worse than average Miami Dolphins pass defense. Consider him a low-end WR1.

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall told media he does not wish to be traded, saying he likes the atmosphere in New York and that he would be "disappointed" if a trade went through.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is getting points in yardage leagues but lacking in scoring leagues (34 catches, 540 yards, two touchdowns). Marshall makes a decent third receiver in most leagues for his ability to catch passes despite the Jets' inability to keep a strong QB under center.

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 19:09:09 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) posted four receptions for 68 yards in the Week 8 game against the Cleveland Browns. He was targeted nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall was limited in practice this week by a foot injury, and it's uncertain if it bothered him during the game. It was a disappointing performance for fantasy owners against a bad Cleveland defense. He'll look for better results in Week 9 at Miami. He remains a must-start in all formats as long as he is active.

Jets | Two key Jets players upgraded to full

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 13:04:57 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) and WR Brandon Marshall (foot) each practiced in full Friday, Oct. 28. Forte did not participate in practice the previous day, though he did manage to get in a limited session Wednesday, Oct. 26. Marshall sat out the first practice of the week before practicing on a limited basis Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: This should take away any concern and put them both on track to play in Sunday's favorable matchup with the Cleveland Browns. Forte logged his first 100-yard rushing effort since Week 2 last weekend, while also adding a receiving touchdown, so he'll be entering this affair with a lot of momentum. Meanwhile, Marshall put up an undesirable line in that game, but with Ryan Fitzpatrick back under center for the Jets, the 32-year-old should be able to sustain his WR1 value. Marshall caught a career-high 14 touchdown passes last season from Fitz, remember.

Jets | Brandon Marshall limited

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 15:06:11 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: It will be surprising if Marshall doesn't suit up for Week 8. Keep an eye on Joe Haden's status too. If Haden is sidelined then Marshall will have an easier time getting open. Even if Haden plays, Marshall is a mid-range WR1 consideration.

Jets | Brandon Marshall set for big game

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 21:22:16 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall will meet the Cleveland Browns in Week 8. The Browns have yielded 285.7 yards per game through the air, ranking 29th in the NFL. The Browns have given up an AFC-high 29 pass plays of 20 or more yards.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is a solid WR1 in all fantasy formats. At a minimum he should hit the century mark with at least one visit to the end zone.

Jets | Brandon Marshall sits out

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 14:57:47 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has dealt with the injury over the past few weeks but has been able to play, so he should have a good chance to play in Week 8. He likely will receive a solid amount of targets if he plays and can be a No. 2 receiver for owners.
