Oakland Raiders TE David Ausberry (knee) will undergo knee surgery and miss the team's preseason opener Friday, Aug. 8, according to head coach Dennis Allen. The exact nature of Ausberry's injury has not been revealed.
Fantasy Tip: Ausberry was sitting on top of the depth chart at tight end, and Mychal Rivera will likely inherit the role for as long as Ausberry is sidelined. However, Rivera is a low-end TE2 at best even as the starter.

Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said he assured head coach Dennis Allen that his job was not in jeopardy despite reports that Allen was on the hot seat after the team lost eight of its final nine games to finish 4-12 for the second straight year. "It was not an issue with me. I understand how things kind of go in different directions when it gets toward the end of the season throughout the league when (people are) predicting who's going to be in, who's going to be out. I understood all that. But I wasn't going to play into that," McKenzie said.

Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis said head coach Dennis Allen will remain with the team. "We met this evening at the Raider facility, and the meeting went really well," Davis said. "We talked about a lot of things, from personnel issues to the coaches to a review of the past season to the draft and our needs for next season. We're ready to rock and roll." Allen has two years remaining on his current four-year deal.

Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen's future with the team is in question, and there appears to be a difference in opinion between Allen and owner Mark Davis on the fate of several assistant coaches. The two will have another meeting Tuesday, Jan. 7, and the main topic will be Allen's vision for the club. Allen wants to keep his assistant coaches with two-year contracts, but he's being met with resistance from Davis, who wants only one-year deals for the coaches. Allen is expected to be kept on as head coach. Only offensive coordinator Greg Olson and linebackers coach Bob M. Sanders are currently under contract.
