Cleveland Browns WR Miles Austin (kidney) can be a free agent after this year, but he's been told he should be able to play next year after lacerating his kidney Nov. 30. Austin isn't allowed to do any physical activity right now, and he'll have a CAT scan in four weeks to see how his cut is healing. His injury is not career-threatening.
Fantasy Tip: It's hard to say what Austin's fantasy value will be next season since he'll likely be playing for a different team. However, he probably won't be anything more than a WR3 or flex play, depending on where he lands.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown if Austin will be able to return in Week 14 against the Indianapolis Colts, but he's nothing more than a flex play at FantasyScore if he's on the field, and the Colts have been pretty strong against wide receivers this season.

Tue, 29 Jul 2014 09:35:57 -0700
The Cleveland Browns are expected to be active in exploring free-agent wide receivers. Their receiving corps doesn't have much size outside of likely suspended WR Josh Gordon. WRs Miles Austin and Nate Burleson have long injury histories. Cleveland may pursue CFL standout Duron Carter, son of Hall of Famer Cris Carter, once his season is complete.
Fantasy Tip: Andrew Hawkins could be a candidate to emerge out of the slot, but he's anything but tall. We wouldn't throw much at any of the non-Gordon wideouts until Cleveland finalizes its roster and depth chart.

Thu, 15 May 2014 12:13:36 -0700
The Cleveland Browns have signed unrestricted free-agent WR Miles Austin (Cowboys) to an undisclosed deal.
Fantasy Tip: There was a day when this would be big news for fantasy, but the days of Austin being a viable weekly fantasy option are over. At best, Austin could be a weekly flex consideration. Given his “unblemished” injury history, he is anything but a safe pick in this year’s drafts.

The Dallas Cowboys are tight against the salary cap, which will likely prevent them from doing anything big in free agency. "It's still tight," vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday afternoon of the salary cap. "I think we always manage through it, but we're still in a tight situation after coming off the penalties ($10 million for violating league rules on WR Miles Austin contract) and the things like that. We're still up against it."
Mon, 06 Jan 2014 10:45:02 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (hamstring) practiced in full Thursday, Nov. 21.
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Austin will finally make his return to game action. He remains a very risky flex play, however, until we see him with a healthy dose of playing time again. Check to see if he's on your waiver wire. He could come in handy in the fantasy playoffs.

Sun, 17 Nov 2013 19:52:00 -0800
Dallas Cowboys WR Terrance Williams is expected to see a dent in playing time and targets with WR Miles Austin (hamstring) expected back in Week 12. Still, the team has been happy with Williams' maturation. "He's got a real high level of maturity from a work ethic standpoint," receivers coach Derek Dooley said Sunday, Nov. 17. "From an off the field standpoint. From a team standpoint. I think that's one of the things that's contributed to his ability to really have so much success early. He's really made the adjustment from being a college guy to a pro as well as anybody."
Fantasy Tip: It's hard to imagine the team taking targets away from Williams, who has really blossomed during Austin's absence. Plus, Austin isn't exactly the picture of health, and it might just be a matter of time before he is sidelined again. Williams should be treated as a WR4 or flex fantasy option heading into Week 12.

The Dallas Cowboys are hopeful WR Miles Austin (hamstring) can return soon. He has resumed running and doing some cardio work in rehab, but his return date remains uncertain. The team is hoping time off will allow him to get healthy enough to return to game action.
Fantasy Tip: If Austin is available off the waiver wire in your fantasy league, he might be worth stashing away if you have the roster flexibility. Still, there is no immediate return in sight, so be patient. When he returns, it's possible he might be the No. 3 wideout on the team following the emergence of Terrance Williams.

Thu, 07 Nov 2013 13:41:16 -0800
Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (hamstring) did not practice for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 7.
