Rays | John Jaso benched against southpaw

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 15:56:56 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso is not in the lineup against Houston Astros left-handed SP Dallas Keuchel Wednesday, Aug. 19. SS Asdrubal Cabrera is serving as the designated hitter, while SS Tim Beckham starts at the 6 and is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Jaso effectively has become a platoon hitter for the Rays, only facing right-handed pitchers. Take note on FantasyScore. Cabrera ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been really hot this month and hits lefties particularly well this year, but he'll be a risky play against Keuchel tonight. Beckham ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) should be avoided.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera continues to light it up

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 18:59:17 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored Tuesday, Aug. 11, against the Atlanta Braves. It was his seventh multi-hit game in the past eight outings, and he has a .358 batting average since coming off the 15-day disabled list July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has re-emerged as a must-start FantasyScore option at a cut-rate price, so keep rolling with him until he cools down significantly.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera notches four hits

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 16:38:30 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera went 4-for-5 with two RBI during the Rays 5-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has caught fire of late, as he entered the game with 14 runs, seven doubles, two home runs, four RBI and a .375/.419/.700 slash line over his previous 11 games. FantasyScore players should view him as a nice value option in favorable matchups while he is hitting well.

The Tampa Bay Rays will activate 2B Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, July 28. 2B Jake Elmore has been optioned to Triple-A Durham.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) should be given a couple of games to knock off the rust before trusting him again in FantasyScore.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera rehab update

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 19:35:46 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) said he was at 80 percent during his first baserunning session before the game Friday, July 24. He also took batting practice.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) appears to be several weeks away from returning to action. Tim Beckham ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and Jake Elmore ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) will continue to split time at shortstop for the Rays in his absence.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera starts to jog

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 21:43:05 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) has started to jog and will begin taking grounders next week.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($3,500; or 7.0% of cap) is likely a few weeks away from a return and meaningful impact. In the meantime Tim Beckham ($1,800; or 3.6% of cap) and Jake Elmore ($2,400; or 4.8% of cap) continue to hold down the fort at short in Cabrera's stead.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera placed on disabled list

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 08:18:43 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, July 12.

Fantasy Tip: Tim Beckham ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) was recalled in the transaction, and he projects to receive everyday looks while Cabrera ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is out. Beckham was the top pick of the 2008 amateur draft, and he flashed nice pop earlier this season. In AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, Beckham will have fleeting value. Check back for updates on Cabrera's recovery and a return timeline.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera unsure of status

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 06:39:55 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) said he felt better a few hours after leaving the game with a hamstring injury Saturday, July 11. He did not require an MRI exam, and his status is unknown for the game against the Houston Astros Sunday, July 12.

Fantasy Tip: With the All-Star break beginning Monday, July 13, it wouldn't be out of the question for the Rays to take the precautionary route and provide Cabrera ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) with the day off Sunday. Check back for an update, but Cabrera isn't a great at FantasyScore Sunday, regardless of his status.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera exits

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 16:48:51 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) left the game Saturday, July 11, with an apparent hamstring injury. He'll be evaluated Sunday, July 12.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to see him appearing in Sunday's first-half finale, but he could have time to recover over the All-Star break. Jake Elmore ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) will likely fill in, but he's a very low-end option on FantasyScore.

Rays | Asdrubal Cabrera out of lineup

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 08:40:15 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera is out of the lineup in Game 1 of a doubleheader Tuesday, July 7, in favor of SS Jake Elmore.

Fantasy Tip: Elmore ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has a solid matchup against Chris R. Young, but Elmore's .217-2-15 line doesn't give much FantasyScore promise.
