Broncos | Denver tight ends to form platoon?

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 12:35:57 -0700

Denver Broncos TEs Owen Daniels and Virgil Green could both see enough snaps this season to be considered starters, according to Andrew Mason of denverbroncos.com.

Fantasy Tip: Green has been known throughout his career as more of a blocking tight end, while Daniels is viewed as more of a passing threat. Daniels has proven to be the better receiver. He holds more fantasy value in this offense and should be taken as a TE2.

Broncos | Virgil Green worked with star QB

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 19:53:56 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green worked out with QB Peyton Manning during his sessions at Duke University this offseason. It is another indication he could be ready to see starter-type snaps in the regular season, even with the addition of TE Owen Daniels.

Fantasy Tip: Green has generally been a blocker for most of his reps, but he is likely to factor more into the offense this season. Think Jacob Tamme's role from the past, and that will give you a sense of Green's fantasy appeal. Unless Daniels suffers a long-term injury, Green is still best left to the waiver wire in most leagues, although his role is increasing.

Broncos | Peyton reaches out to Owen Daniels

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 16:23:09 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Owen Daniels, who signed a three-year, $12 million deal with the team Tuesday, March 10, was asked by QB Peyton Manning to attend his Duke passing camp later this month. Daniels brings with him to Denver a reputation as a precise route runner, and he admitted that this offseason will include "more studying" as head coach Gary Kubiak incorporates new language into Denver's offense.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels is looking to replace heaps of production that Julius Thomas had in the last two seasons, but Daniels' precise route-running skills are something that Thomas lacked, and Manning will surely appreciate. The familiarity with Kubiak's schemes is another positive for Daniels. In this offense, Daniels should be able to put up TE1 numbers more often than not.

Broncos | Owen Daniels lands in Denver

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 13:09:04 -0700

Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent TE Owen Daniels reached an agreement with the Denver Broncos Tuesday, March 10, according to sources. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: With Julius Thomas out of the picture in Denver, Daniels should come in and serve as the team's pass-catching tight end. Daniels is familiar with head coach Gary Kubiak from their time with the Baltimore Ravens. The move should considerably raise Daniels' fantasy value as a potential TE1 in the Broncos' offense as a notable red zone threat.

Broncos | Denver in lead for Owen Daniels?

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 11:32:45 -0700

Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent TE Owen Daniels is expected to sign with the Denver Broncos, according to the Ravens' thinking. Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak figures to be one of the selling points.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels had a resurgence after Dennis Pitta (hip) was lost for the season before he broke down as well. He would be a midrange TE1 in Denver.

Wed, 25 Feb 2015 04:36:28 -0800

Free-agent TE Owen Daniels (Ravens) has expressed interest in returning to the Baltimore Ravens, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels rebounded from a down 2013 season where he was hurt, and he caught four touchdown passes and had 527 yards. He remains a decent fantasy play because of his on-field rapport with QB Joe Flacco.

Ravens | Owen Daniels hopes to re-sign with Ravens

Thu, 15 Jan 2015 09:25:46 -0800

Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent TE Owen Daniels said he would like to re-sign with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason and believes he can play a few more seasons in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels started most of the games this season since Dennis Pitta was out with a hip injury. He had a solid 2014 season but never had more than 70 receiving yards in a game. Daniels has a chance to be the starter next season if he re-signs with the team and Dennis Pitta is still not ready to return, but Daniels should be considered as a No. 2 tight end.

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury related) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Jan. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels ($5,200) is moderately priced on FantasyScore this week and is worth a look at tight end. His opponent, the New England Patriots, was one of three defenses to give up at least 1,000 yards to tight ends this season.

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) fully participated in the team's walkthrough Friday, Jan. 2, and is listed as probable for the Wild Card playoff game.

Ravens | Owen Daniels resting Thursday

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 14:10:21 -0800

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) was sitting out of practice Thursday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels ($4,400) had a nice game in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the Houston Texans have fared much better against tight ends this season, holding them to an average of just 5.61 fantasy points per game. Temper your expectations for Daniels at FantasyScore in Week 16.

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 12, and is listed as probable for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels received a day off earlier in the week but should be able to play this week. Daniels has been fairly quiet over the last four games and is facing a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that has played well against tight ends in that span. Daniels has a price of $5,100 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to consider spending a little extra money on a better option.

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 13:23:05 -0800

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 5, and is probable for Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels is fine to play, but he's a weak option for FantasyScore users against the Dolphins, who are limiting tight ends to just 4.68 average fantasy points this season. Daniels costs $5,100.

Ravens | Owen Daniels resting Thursday

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 13:35:35 -0800

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) is taking the day off practice Thursday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels ($5,100) isn't a stellar option at FantasyScore this weekend against the Miami Dolphins. Not only have the Dolphins been the stingiest against tight ends all year, but they're allowing a microscopic 0.53 average fantasy points to tight ends in the last four weeks.

Ravens | Owen Daniels probable

Sat, 22 Nov 2014 12:08:38 -0800

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury related) was a full participant in practice Saturday, Nov. 22.

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 13:16:41 -0800

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) returned to a full practice Friday, Nov. 21, after resting Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels was taking the day off yesterday. He is reasonably priced at FantasyScore in Week 12 at $4,900, especially considering that several notable tight ends won't be playing. However, you might need to temper expectations, since the New Orleans Saints have been surprisingly good at shutting down tight ends this year.

Ravens | Owen Daniels resting Thursday

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 14:17:59 -0800

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) is taking the day off of practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints have allowed the fewest fantasy points to tight ends over the course of the year, but they've given up two scores to the position in the last few weeks. Tight ends have been very inconsistent this year, though, so Daniels could be a decent play at FantasyScore for $4,900 on Monday night.

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (knee) returned to practice Friday, Oct. 31, and is considered a game-time decision for the team's Week 9 game.

Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Daniels was able to get back on the practice field on Friday after sitting out on Thursday. Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (knee) underwent a cleanup procedure on his knee and will not play in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach John Harbaugh said he doesn't expect Daniels to miss much time.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels' absence means Steve Smith ($6,800) and Torrey Smith ($5,800) should see an uptick in targets from Joe Flacco. Justin Forsett ($5,800) is a great play at FantasyScore, and Bernard Pierce ($4,200) could be more involved, as well.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels had a season-high six catches (nine targets) for 58 yards and a touchdown in Week 7. Keep tabs on his practice status the rest of the week, but his knee ailment doesn't appear to be serious. Daniels costs $5,700 (11.4% of cap) at FantasyScore this weekend.

Ravens | Owen Daniels meshing with QB

Mon, 20 Oct 2014 05:44:22 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels was targeted by QB Joe Flacco nine times Sunday, Oct. 19, and caught six balls for 58 yards and a touchdown in Week 7. Daniels is second on the team with 27 catches, 275 yards and three touchdowns. "He makes catches in traffic," Flacco said. "He obviously has held onto the ball a lot of times while getting hit by two guys, even one in the end zone. So, yes, I have a lot of confidence throwing to him."

Fantasy Tip: Daniels' Week 7 performance shed some light on his dimming fantasy stock. He hadn't done much since his surprising two-touchdown performance in Week 2. Daniels solidified himself as a mid-to-low TE1 on FantasyScore.

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) is not participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 9, because he is receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels has received an off day each in the last few weeks, so he should be ready to go in Week 6. He costs $6,000 on FantasyScore and is a solid starting option if owners are comfortable with his price tag.

Ravens | Owen Daniels, Steve Smith probable

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 12:00:51 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) and WR Steve Smith (non-injury) both practiced in full Friday, Oct. 3, and are probable for Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has become Flacco's favorite target, so he should be a weekly consideration for fantasy players. With Dennis Pitta (hip) out for the year, Daniels gains immediate fantasy value and is a nice sleeper option at FantasyScore this weekend.

Ravens | Owen Daniels to have key role

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 06:58:37 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels is expected to carry the majority of the workload at the position. The team still plans to utilize the position as much as before, and TE Phillip Supernaw said Daniels is moving as well as he has seen him move.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels carries a $7,000 (14% of your cap) price tag on FantasyScore this week. While he is expected to be part of the offense, that's a steep price to pay for someone outside of the "Big 3" at the position.

Ravens | Owen Daniels to take over

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 09:34:35 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels will be relied on in the tight end position with TE Dennis Pitta (hip) out indefinitely. Daniels has experience in offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak's system, and he has 10 catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns this year.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels will likely be a cheap option at tight end this week at FantasyScore, but his matchup against the Carolina Panthers probably isn't the best to target. In standard leagues, he's not a bad backup tight end, depending on how long Pitta is out.

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Ravens | Owen Daniels familiar with system

Fri, 12 Sep 2014 15:49:31 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels, who has nine catches for 62 yards and two touchdowns in two weeks, said he is very familiar and comfortable with offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak's system from their time together with the Houston Texans. "Coach Kubiak likes to run two tight end sets. We did a decent amount of three tight end sets out there and mixed up formations and personnel groupings. The more a defense has to prepare for, the easier it makes it for us. That was kind of the signature of a Kubiak game plan," Daniels said.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels is worth watching, but his value is likely to be dependent on scoring, which will likely make him a frustrating play on a weekly basis. Also, Dennis Pitta isn't likely to be phased out of Joe Flacco's progressions.

Ravens | Owen Daniels catches two scores

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 21:01:17 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels had five catches for 28 yards and two touchdowns in the team's Week 2 game Thursday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels averaged just 5.6 yards per catch, but Flacco looked his way twice down near the goal line. Touchdown-dependent players are risky in fantasy leagues, but if Daniels continues to be a threat in the red zone, he could be worth gambling on as a low-priced option in FantasyScore, especially at a tight end position that is already lacking in depth.
