Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (knee) underwent a cleanup procedure on his knee and will not play in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach John Harbaugh said he doesn't expect Daniels to miss much time.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels' absence means Steve Smith ($6,800) and Torrey Smith ($5,800) should see an uptick in targets from Joe Flacco. Justin Forsett ($5,800) is a great play at FantasyScore, and Bernard Pierce ($4,200) could be more involved, as well.
Thu, 23 Oct 2014 10:32:32 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (knee) is not participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 23.

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 13:25:35 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels had a season-high six catches (nine targets) for 58 yards and a touchdown in Week 7. Keep tabs on his practice status the rest of the week, but his knee ailment doesn't appear to be serious. Daniels costs $5,700 (11.4% of cap) at FantasyScore this weekend.
Mon, 20 Oct 2014 05:44:22 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels was targeted by QB Joe Flacco nine times Sunday, Oct. 19, and caught six balls for 58 yards and a touchdown in Week 7. Daniels is second on the team with 27 catches, 275 yards and three touchdowns. "He makes catches in traffic," Flacco said. "He obviously has held onto the ball a lot of times while getting hit by two guys, even one in the end zone. So, yes, I have a lot of confidence throwing to him."
Fantasy Tip: Daniels' Week 7 performance shed some light on his dimming fantasy stock. He hadn't done much since his surprising two-touchdown performance in Week 2. Daniels solidified himself as a mid-to-low TE1 on FantasyScore.
Fri, 17 Oct 2014 11:24:13 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is listed as probable for Week 7.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels has been received an off day the last several weeks but has been able to play. Daniels costs $5,700 on FantasyScore and could be a starting option if an owner has the money to spend on him.
Thu, 16 Oct 2014 13:55:21 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury related) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 16.
Fantasy Tip: This was probably just a day off for Daniels. It might be best to stay away from him this week, however, as the Atlanta Falcons have not allowed a touchdown to tight ends so far this season.
Thu, 09 Oct 2014 10:30:28 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) is not participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 9, because he is receiving the day off.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels has received an off day each in the last few weeks, so he should be ready to go in Week 6. He costs $6,000 on FantasyScore and is a solid starting option if owners are comfortable with his price tag.
Fri, 03 Oct 2014 12:00:51 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) and WR Steve Smith (non-injury) both practiced in full Friday, Oct. 3, and are probable for Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Fantasy Tip: Smith has become Flacco's favorite target, so he should be a weekly consideration for fantasy players. With Dennis Pitta (hip) out for the year, Daniels gains immediate fantasy value and is a nice sleeper option at FantasyScore this weekend.
Thu, 02 Oct 2014 13:41:46 -0700
Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (non-injury related) and TE Owen Daniels (non-injury related) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 2.
Fantasy Tip: This is just a precautionary day off for two key veterans. They'll still be good to go for Week 5.
Fri, 26 Sep 2014 12:10:51 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 26, and is listed as probable for Week 4.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels returned to practice after getting a day off and should be fine for Week 4. Daniels costs $7,000 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to wait to see his role in the offense before using him.
Thu, 25 Sep 2014 13:13:48 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels (non-injury related) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 25.
Fantasy Tip: It seems that Daniels and Steve Smith were both given the day off. Daniels figures to be the team's primary tight end with Dennis Pitta (hip) out for the season.
Thu, 25 Sep 2014 06:58:37 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels is expected to carry the majority of the workload at the position. The team still plans to utilize the position as much as before, and TE Phillip Supernaw said Daniels is moving as well as he has seen him move.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels carries a $7,000 (14% of your cap) price tag on FantasyScore this week. While he is expected to be part of the offense, that's a steep price to pay for someone outside of the "Big 3" at the position.
Tue, 23 Sep 2014 05:46:15 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels, FB Kyle Juszczyk and WR Marlon Brown will be used to replace TE Dennis Pitta (hip) in the offense. "We're going to play our good players," head coach John Harbaugh said. "So, who's on the field is going to depend on who are good players are and how the coaches decide to attack."
Mon, 22 Sep 2014 09:34:35 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels will be relied on in the tight end position with TE Dennis Pitta (hip) out indefinitely. Daniels has experience in offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak's system, and he has 10 catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns this year.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels will likely be a cheap option at tight end this week at FantasyScore, but his matchup against the Carolina Panthers probably isn't the best to target. In standard leagues, he's not a bad backup tight end, depending on how long Pitta is out.
Fri, 12 Sep 2014 15:49:31 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels, who has nine catches for 62 yards and two touchdowns in two weeks, said he is very familiar and comfortable with offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak's system from their time together with the Houston Texans. "Coach Kubiak likes to run two tight end sets. We did a decent amount of three tight end sets out there and mixed up formations and personnel groupings. The more a defense has to prepare for, the easier it makes it for us. That was kind of the signature of a Kubiak game plan," Daniels said.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels is worth watching, but his value is likely to be dependent on scoring, which will likely make him a frustrating play on a weekly basis. Also, Dennis Pitta isn't likely to be phased out of Joe Flacco's progressions.
Thu, 11 Sep 2014 21:01:17 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Owen Daniels had five catches for 28 yards and two touchdowns in the team's Week 2 game Thursday, Sept. 11.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels averaged just 5.6 yards per catch, but Flacco looked his way twice down near the goal line. Touchdown-dependent players are risky in fantasy leagues, but if Daniels continues to be a threat in the red zone, he could be worth gambling on as a low-priced option in FantasyScore, especially at a tight end position that is already lacking in depth.

"He's going to have a lot to do with our success next year, and we've got a lot of big plans for him."
Fri, 04 Apr 2014 08:48:17 -0700
The Baltimore Ravens don't expect TE Owen Daniels to serve as their No. 1 tight end this season, as they already have TE Dennis Pitta on roster. Offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak likes to use two tight ends frequently, and he might install that as the base offense.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels and Pitta will be on the field together often, so they'll eat into each other's production. Both are great red zone threats, as well. Pitta has been one of Joe Flacco's favorite targets in the past, so he'll probably favor him over Daniels, at least initially.
Thu, 03 Apr 2014 15:02:56 -0700

Thu, 03 Apr 2014 14:16:03 -0700
The Baltimore Ravens agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with free-agent TE Owen Daniels (Texans) Thursday, April 3.
Fantasy Tip: Daniels has plenty of familiarity with new offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, who was the head coach for Daniels in Houston. The Ravens could use plenty of two tight end sets with Dennis Pitta, but this signing will probably put Daniels ahead of Pitta on the depth chart. Baltimore has some nice pieces in the receiving game now to give Joe Flacco plenty of options. Daniels has potential to be a steady midrange TE1.

Mon, 30 Dec 2013 21:07:24 -0800
Houston Texans TE Owen Daniels has one more year on his contract at $4.5 million cash that comes with a $6.25 million cap hit. The Texans might not be able to keep both Daniels and TE Garrett Graham, and another team could afford to pay Graham like a starting tight end. The team would save only somewhere around $3.5 million in cap space if they released Daniels, but he might be a good influence on TE Ryan Griffin's development. Beat writer Tania Ganguli feels that it makes sense for the team to bring Daniels back in 2014.
