Cubs | Yanks relievers could interest Cubs

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 18:29:02 -0700

The Chicago Cubs have expressed interest in trading for New York Yankees RPs Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller.

Fantasy Tip: Hector Rondon is currently serving as the Cubs' closer but he has blown his last two save opportunities and trading for Chapman, Miller or both relievers would considerably strengthen the Chicago bullpen. Chapman has recorded 11 saves in 15 appearances this season, while posting a 1.93 ERA with 21 strikeouts and just three walks in 14 innings. Miller is 3-0 with a 1.30 ERA and seven saves in 27 appearances, with three walks and 51 strikeouts over 27 2/3 innings.

Yankees | Aroldis Chapman resting vs. Angels

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 14:32:42 -0700

New York Yankees RP Aroldis Chapman will not pitch against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Monday, June 6, and RP Andrew Miller will probably receive the chance to convert a save, if needed, according to manager Joe Girardi. It is a routine night off to rest for Chapman.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman is an elite closer with a 2.25 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 13.5 K/9, and he has nine saves already after missing the start of the season. Miller is also plenty valuable because he pitches in high-leverage situations and has returned nice fantasy numbers: two wins, six saves, a 1.14 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and a 16.0 K/9. Those numbers play in the majority of fantasy leagues, if not all.

Giants | SF interested in Andrew Miller

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 07:51:26 -0700

The San Francisco Giants have had internal discussions about trading for New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller. It is unknown if they would be willing to part with a top prospect, such as SP Tyler Beebe, in order to land him.

Fantasy Tip: The 31-year-old Miller is 2-0 with a 1.14 ERA and six saves in 23 appearances this year, with just three walks and 42 strikeouts over just 23 2/3 innings. If the Giants acquire Miller, he would likely step into the closer's role, which would severely decrease the fantasy value of RP Santiago Casilla. Despite his current role as a setup man, Miller should be owned in the majority of seasonal leagues due to his phenomenal walk/strikeout ratio.

Yankees | Two Yankees RPs were unavailable

Sat, 07 May 2016 16:13:15 -0700

New York Yankees RPs Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances were unavailable Saturday, May 7.

Fantasy Tip: Aroldis Chapman is due back Monday, so Sunday could present Miller's final save chance for a while. All three are worth owning, but Chapman owners are close to rejoicing.

Yankees | Yanks bullpen dominating

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 16:02:18 -0700

New York Yankees RPs Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances have struck out 16 of the last 18 batters they've faced, and New York's relievers lead the majors with a 13.37 K/9 rate. Miller and Betances have combined to strike out 27 of the 41 batters they've faced (65.9%). Miller and Betances will be bumped back an inning when RP Aroldis Chapman returns from his suspension May 9.

Fantasy Tip: This is exactly why both Miller and Betances should be owned in all fantasy formats, even if they aren't seeing save chances once Chapman returns.

Yankees | Andrew Miller to pitch with brace

Fri, 01 Apr 2016 16:00:10 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (hand) will likely pitch with a protective device on his glove hand. He had a cast on his hand Thursday, March 31, but Miller has full range of motion with his fingers.

Fantasy Tip: Miller dodged a bullet having his non-pitching hand fractured by a line drive Wednesday. He'll be able to pitch through the injury and will enter the season as the Yankees' closer with Aroldis Chapman suspended the first 30 games. Miller is a nice SP2 for fantasy and will remain valuable in all formats once Chapman returns.

Yankees | Andrew Miller to be ready

Fri, 01 Apr 2016 09:26:41 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (hand) was cleared by a hand surgeon in Miami Friday, April 1, and it looks like he will be able to pitch on opening day, according to Yes Network's Jack Curry.

Fantasy Tip: Miller definitely dodged a bullet here with the injury coming to his non-throwing hand. It shouldn't affect his pitching at all, and his fantasy owners can breathe a sigh of relief to begin the year. Miller is a solid RP2 to begin the season filling in as the Yankees' closer with Aroldis Chapman suspended for the first 30 games.

Yankees | Andrew Miller planning to pitch

Thu, 31 Mar 2016 07:43:06 -0700

Updating previous reports, New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (hand) plans to pitch through the chip fracture in his right hand.

Fantasy Tip: Miller's injury is to his glove hand, which means it's possible he could play through the injury. However, it could worsen from simply receiving a throw from the catcher, which he could do in excess of 20 or 30 times every appearance. Wait and see what the team says. Miller is a good RP2 in fantasy that figured to close the first month of the season while Aroldis Chapman serves his suspension. Dellin Betances would benefit significantly if Miller misses time, and he, too is worth an RP2 grab for his ratios and strikeouts.

Yankees | Andrew Miller has chip fracture

Wed, 30 Mar 2016 16:56:19 -0700

Updating previous reports, New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller's (wrist) CT scan showed a chip fracture in his right wrist, according to a source. Miller will visit with a hand specialist to determine the next step. Until then, the Yankees won't know if he'll need to open on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Ouch. Bad news for the Yanks and Miller owners, as he was expected to fill in as the closer with Aroldis Chapman suspended. Miller shouldn't be outright dropped in any fantasy formats, as he has value even when he's not closing. Stay tuned for updates on his timetable, though, and stash him if you can. Dellin Betances should now be counted on in the ninth inning to start the year. His fantasy stock is on the rise, and you should run to scoop him up if he's available in your league.

Yankees | X-rays negative for Andrew Miller

Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:47:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller's (wrist) X-rays on his bruised right wrist were negative. He still has a CT scan scheduled.

Fantasy Tip: In the event Miller requires a stint on the disabled list, Dellin Betances will take care of the ninth inning to start the season. However, it looks like Miller is not facing a lengthy injury absence, if he misses time at all. Stay tuned for updates, but both Miller and Betences should be owned in the majority of seasonal leagues, and they'll both retain value when Aroldis Chapman returns to the closer role after his 30-game suspension.
