Yankees | Kyle Schwarber the target for Yankees

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 11:04:18 -0700

Chicago Cubs C/OF Kyle Schwarber (knee) still would need to be included in any deal involving New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller being dealt to Chicago, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: There is potential one of the franchises could deviate from their stances, but as it stands, the Chicago brass has made it clear Schwarber is unavailable. It's a situation worth monitoring, though. Miller would challenge to be the best reliever in fantasy as the closer for the Cubs.

Indians | Cleveland set to pay for bullpen help?

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 10:57:51 -0700

New York Yankees RPs Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller are of significant interest to the Cleveland Indians, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman and Miller are both elite fantasy relievers. Miller isn't currently receiving looks in the ninth inning, though, so his value stands to skyrocket with a deal. Chapman would see a slight boost with a relocation to a contender. Both lefties should be universally owned and started.

Rangers | Andrew Miller an option for Texas?

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 13:04:05 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller is among the left-handed relievers the Texas Rangers are looking to acquire.

Fantasy Tip: The Yankees would need a big return if they trade Miller, but he would be a solid addition to the Rangers bullpen. It is not known if he would receive any save opportunities, but he would be an attractive fantasy option even if he was used as a setup man.

Yankees | Andrew Miller could be moved

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 13:18:21 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller said the Yankees have told him that he could be traded if the team receives an overwhelming offer before the trade deadline.

Fantasy Tip: Miller likely will receive interest from several teams leading up to the deadline, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. Miller is a solid fantasy pitcher as a setup man but would have more value if he became a closer.

Yankees | Andrew Miller says Yankees want to win

Mon, 11 Jul 2016 12:54:32 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller does not believe he will be traded anytime soon.

"The Yankees want to win," Miller said Monday, July 11. "What they say is what they mean. The people that make the decisions, all they know is winning. That's a big reason I signed there. That's their plan until the absolute last minute."

Fantasy Tip: Miller is a high-end fantasy option even without being the closer because of his five wins, seven saves, 1.37 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 69 strikeouts through 39 1/3 innings. Should he relocate to a team where he would pitch in the ninth inning, Miller would be a top-tier closer, if not the best fantasy closer.

Cardinals | STL looking at Andrew Miller

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 04:02:54 -0700

The St. Louis Cardinals have an eye on New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: While it is possible the Yankees may give up Miller or one of the other two stars of their bullpen (Dellin Betances, Aroldis Chapman), a far more likely scenario has the Yanks holding onto Miller. Still, be prepared to swoop if Miller becomes a closer in another market as he has definite fantasy value.

Yankees | New York expected to sell at trade deadline

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 17:17:13 -0700

The New York Yankees are expected to be sellers at the trade deadline this month, and they will listen to offers for players like RPs Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman and OF Carlos Beltran.

Fantasy Tip: Basically nobody is off limits except for potentially some of their young prospects in the minors. Miller, who is already useful as a ratios stabilizer in all fantasy leagues, could see his value rise even more if he or Chapman is dealt. Beltran is having an All-Star season himself and is a must-start in all leagues.

Cubs | Yanks relievers could interest Cubs

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 18:29:02 -0700

The Chicago Cubs have expressed interest in trading for New York Yankees RPs Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller.

Fantasy Tip: Hector Rondon is currently serving as the Cubs' closer but he has blown his last two save opportunities and trading for Chapman, Miller or both relievers would considerably strengthen the Chicago bullpen. Chapman has recorded 11 saves in 15 appearances this season, while posting a 1.93 ERA with 21 strikeouts and just three walks in 14 innings. Miller is 3-0 with a 1.30 ERA and seven saves in 27 appearances, with three walks and 51 strikeouts over 27 2/3 innings.

Yankees | Aroldis Chapman resting vs. Angels

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 14:32:42 -0700

New York Yankees RP Aroldis Chapman will not pitch against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Monday, June 6, and RP Andrew Miller will probably receive the chance to convert a save, if needed, according to manager Joe Girardi. It is a routine night off to rest for Chapman.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman is an elite closer with a 2.25 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 13.5 K/9, and he has nine saves already after missing the start of the season. Miller is also plenty valuable because he pitches in high-leverage situations and has returned nice fantasy numbers: two wins, six saves, a 1.14 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and a 16.0 K/9. Those numbers play in the majority of fantasy leagues, if not all.

Giants | SF interested in Andrew Miller

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 07:51:26 -0700

The San Francisco Giants have had internal discussions about trading for New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller. It is unknown if they would be willing to part with a top prospect, such as SP Tyler Beebe, in order to land him.

Fantasy Tip: The 31-year-old Miller is 2-0 with a 1.14 ERA and six saves in 23 appearances this year, with just three walks and 42 strikeouts over just 23 2/3 innings. If the Giants acquire Miller, he would likely step into the closer's role, which would severely decrease the fantasy value of RP Santiago Casilla. Despite his current role as a setup man, Miller should be owned in the majority of seasonal leagues due to his phenomenal walk/strikeout ratio.
