Marlins | Two Fish out Wednesday

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 07:12:56 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado and C J.T. Realmuto are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 22, with SS Adeiny Hechavarria hitting second and C Jeff Mathis hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Hechavarria is hitting .242 this month in what has been a "meh" season for him. He has a good matchup against John Gant, and he's a low-end option today, though. Mathis doesn't have a potent enough bat for much consideration in DFS.

Marlins | Four-hit game for Martin Prado

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 22:31:51 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado had three singles and a triple in five at-bats Saturday, June 11, against the Arizona Diamondbacks to push his average up to .323.

Fantasy Tip: Prado is a player rumored to be on the move by the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. For now he is a strong NL-only fantasy option for his high average, but if he moves to a contender and a lesser role, his fantasy appeal would obviously take a hit.

Marlins | Martin Prado not in Tuesday lineup

Tue, 31 May 2016 12:38:13 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado is not in the lineup Tuesday, May 31, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. 3B Chris Johnson is in for Prado, and he will hit seventh against Pirates SP Gerrit Cole.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Prado is getting a normal night off, so DFS players should avoid Prado accordingly. Johnson carries little fantasy value (7-for-31, .226 average at home) with a .217 batting average overall.

Marlins | Martin Prado continues to produce

Tue, 24 May 2016 11:08:25 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado is hitting .348 heading into Tuesday, May 24, with an .800 OPS. However, he has no home runs and a .377 batting average on balls in play.

Fantasy Tip: Prado's high BABIP means his average will surely come down over the course of the season, but the veteran third baseman is a career .293 hitter. There's almost no power to speak of, but if you need help in the average department, he's your guy. He's also tremendously valuable as an underrated player in on-base percentage leagues.

Marlins | Two Marlins out Wednesday

Wed, 18 May 2016 07:41:31 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are out of the lineup Wednesday, May 18. C J.T. Realmuto is hitting second, 3B Chris Johnson is hitting seventh and SS Miguel Rojas hits eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto is hitting .358 this month, and he's a daily upper-middle option against Jeremy Hellickson. Johnson and Rojas lack the DFS punch for usage today.

Marlins | Four hits for Martin Prado

Sun, 08 May 2016 15:35:05 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado had four hits Sunday, May 8, in a 6-5 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fantasy Tip: Prado raised his batting average to .396 in the process. He has multiple hits in seven of his last 11 games and appears to be catching fire at the plate. He won't provide much pop (nine homers last year) but Prado only had 68 strikeouts last year so he won't whiff much, either.

Marlins | Martin Prado, J.T. Realmuto playing

Sun, 08 May 2016 07:33:09 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado and C J.T. Realmuto are back in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola Sunday, May 8.

Fantasy Tip: Prado is batting .375 with 10 RBI through his first 96 at-bats this year and should be viewed as a solid value play at the hot corner. Realmuto is batting .405 with a home run and five RBI over the past two weeks and makes an excellent catching option for daily fantasy contests.

Marlins | Martin Prado has a seat

Sat, 07 May 2016 13:27:24 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado is out of the lineup Saturday, May 7, with 3B Chris Johnson hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is hitting just .219 with one RBI and isn't an option against Jeremy Hellickson.

Marlins | Martin Prado back in lineup

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 15:37:35 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado (personal) is back in the lineup at third base and batting second Tuesday, April 26, against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw.

Fantasy Tip: Prado just came off paternity leave, and he's about to be greeted in his return by the best pitcher in the world today. It's not a situation owners should explore in daily games, but he's worth getting back in there for weekly formats. In the process, this also shuts down Derek Dietrich's value for now.

Marlins | Martin Prado back, Jarred Cosart optioned

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 13:41:29 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado was reinstated from the paternity list Tuesday, April 26, and SP Jarred Cosart was optioned to Class AAA New Orleans in a corresponding move. SP Justin Nicolino could make the start Wednesday, April 27, after going 2-2 with a 3.60 ERA for New Orleans. Cosart was 0-1 with a 7.89 ERA in three starts, and he walked 15 in 14 2/3 frames with eight strikeouts. Cosart mentioned he wasn't happy with his mechanics and didn't "feel natural" with his lower hand placement.

Fantasy Tip: Return Prado to your starting lineups wherever you own him. Cosart can likely be dropped wherever he's owned, as he's no sure bet to rejoin the rotation anytime soon. Unlike Cosart, Nicolino has great control, but that's really where the intrigue ends. He could be a short-term stream option in the right matchups in the deeper and daily leagues.
