St. Louis Cardinals RP Pat Neshek nailed down the save Tuesday, June 17.
Fantasy Tip: Trevor Rosenthal had a heavy workload over the weekend when he notched three saves. It's likely the team wanted him to have two days off. Neshek certainly appears to be the next in line over Jason Motte.

St. Louis Cardinals RP Jason Motte struck out two and touched 96 mph on the radar gun with his fastball against the heart of the Washington Nationals' order Sunday, June 15, after not having pitched in eight days. It was only the second time in nine games since he rejoined the team that he pitched when the team was protecting a lead. Motte is feeling great and has given up nine hits while walking two over 8 1/3 innings.
Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals are likely resting Motte so they can have him in peak form for the remainder of the season. Because of his closing experience, he's probably next in line in case Trevor Rosenthal is injured or faulters, but Rosenthal isn't in any imminent danger.

St. Louis Cardinals CL Trevor Rosenthal blew his third save Wednesday, June 4.
Fantasy Tip: In his defense, he entered with two runners on in a 2-0 game. He didn't get a borderline call on a 3-2 count to load the bases, gave up a broken-bat groundout that scored a run and a clean single to score the second run. He has been inconsistent all year, but teams are catching up to his heater. Keep an eye on this situation with Jason Motte back. Pat Neshek is a possibility, as well.

St. Louis Cardinals RP Jason Motte's fastball velocity sat at 92-93 mph in his season debut Wednesday, May 21. "I learned a long time it's not what you throw, it's where you throw it," Motte said. "I was just trying to go out there and locate."
Fantasy Tip: While Motte is discounting the decreased velocity, it could be an issue moving forward. Motte relied on his heat to put hitters away because his secondary pitches aren't that great. He could regain his 95-plus-mph heat in time, but the soon-to-be 32-year-old will have to adjust if it doesn't return.
