Seattle Mariners 1B Jesus Montero was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma to make roster room for DH Kendrys Morales.
Fantasy Tip: Morales begins his second stint with Seattle on the precipice of mixed-league value. Deeper leagues could tuck him away to see if the familiar surroundings will jolt his bat, which in all fairness probably is taking longer to come around because of his midseason signing.

Seattle Mariners INF Willie Bloomquist (knee) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, July 24, with a right knee contusion. In corresponding moves, SS Chris Taylor and DH Jesus Montero were recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
Fantasy Tip: Taylor's power-speed combo makes him a worthy addition in AL-only formats. There is deep mixed league value, if Taylor earns enough playing time. Montero has more competition for at-bats and is only worth a speculative add in AL-only formats, until he proves otherwise.

The Seattle Mariners demoted 1B Jesus Montero to Triple-A Tacoma Thursday, June 26. This may mean OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) will return from the disabled list Friday, June 27.
Fantasy Tip: Saunders may have to settle for part-time duty again, which makes his mixed-league value shaky.

The Seattle Mariners could send DH Jesus Montero to the minor leagues when OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) is ready to be activated from the 15-day disabled list.

Seattle Mariners 1B Jesus Montero will mainly serve as a designated hitter against left-handed pitchers, according to manager Lloyd McClendon. Seven of Montero's eight home runs with Triple-A Tacoma this year came in the first 20 games of the season. He's hit just one homer in his last 39 games while hitting .261 with 19 RBIs.
Fantasy Tip: At least in the short term, Montero makes for an intriguing option in AL-only leagues. Montero's skills were never in question, but it was his poor work ethic and attitude that left him struggling the last year and a half.

The Seattle Mariners officially recalled 1B Jesus Montero from Triple-A Tacoma Thursday, June 12.
Fantasy Tip: Look to pick up Montero in AL-only leagues, for now. He's an intriguing talent that could be worth the low price if he's turned things around. He should see at least semi-regular at-bats at first base or designated hitter until Justin Smoak (quadriceps) returns from the DL.

Seattle Mariners 1B Jesus Montero is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma Thursday, June 12, to replace OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) on the active roster. Montero had hit eight home runs and driven in 40 runs in 59 games with Tacoma to a slash line of .270/.345/.455.
Fantasy Tip: The Mariners would likely be calling Montero up to serve in some sort of platoon at first base with Logan Morrison, since Justin Smoak (quadriceps) just landed on the DL. It's an intriguing move by Seattle, but one that probably will go overlooked by many fantasy gamers. He's worth taking a shot on, at least in AL-only leagues, for now.

The Seattle Mariners could consider recalling SS Nick Franklin or DH Jesus Montero from Triple-A Tacoma if they have to place DH Corey Hart (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list.

The Seattle Mariners are disappointed with C Jesus Montero after he arrived at camp 40 pounds overweight. Montero has never reached his target weight since joining the team. "We are disappointed in how he came in physically," general manager Jack Zduriencik said bluntly. Montero previously had been criticized for his lack of work ethic.
Fantasy Tip: The Mariners aren't expecting anything from Montero at this point, and you shouldn't, either, for fantasy purposes. He'll have a lot to prove this spring in order to make the team.
