Rays | Evan Longoria breaks power drought

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 22:27:37 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria went 2-for-5 with a double and a solo home run Wednesday, Aug. 26, against the Minnesota Twins. It was his first home run since Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Longo ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) entered the game with just one hit in the past 17 at-bats, dropping his average eight points since Aug. 20. He needs more games like this before you can trust him in FantasyScore again.

Rays | Evan Longoria blasts No. 12

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 16:30:09 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria went 3-for-5 with two runs, a double and a solo home run during the Rays' 6-5 loss to the Chicago White Sox Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Longoria ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) entered the game with a .354/.415/.604 slash line over his previous 12 games, so he is really heating up at the dish. FantasyScore owners should view him a nice bargain when facing a favorable pitching matchup.

Rays | Evan Longoria has three-hit game

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 20:43:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria went 3-for-5 with a double and RBI Monday, Aug. 3, against the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Longo ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) struggled mightily in mid-July, but he has started to catch fire lately. Since July 24 he is 15-for-39 (.385) with five doubles, two homers and four RBI in the past 10 games to raise his average from .262 to .275. He has re-emerged as a must-start in FantasyScore, and he comes at a cut-rate price.

Rays | Evan Longoria frustrated by power outage

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 07:29:23 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria (wrist) is baffled by his lack of power this season, but he said a sore wrist that bothered him earlier in the season isn't the root of the problem. Longoria said the wrist feels a lot better after the four days off for the All-Star break. "It's just, I don't know … I told (manager Kevin) Cash the other day, I felt like I never played the game before."

Fantasy Tip: Longo's ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) .262-9-42 line isn't great, but he can certainly rebound in a quick timeframe. He's at a low enough price to bank on that on FantasyScore.

Rays | Evan Longoria snaps slump

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 18:20:08 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria snapped an 0-for-20 slump at the plate Wednesday, July 22, with an RBI double in the fifth inning.

Fantasy Tip: Longoria ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) went 1-for-5 on the day, so he didn't instill much confidence in an imminent turnaround. FantasyScore owners should continue to stay away until Longoria strings a couple of hits together.

Rays | Evan Longoria mired in slump

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 20:29:11 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria was hitless in four at-bats Tuesday, July 21, against the Philadelphia Phillies, and he has managed just one hit over his past 23 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: Longoria ($3,800; or 7.6% of cap) has tailed off dramatically this season, and he is now hitting just .263 overall on the season. FantasyScore players would obviously do well to avoid him until he starts to snap out of it.

Rays | Evan Longoria will be DH

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 09:11:23 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria will serve as the designated hitter against New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova Sunday, July 5, and is batting third in the lineup. OF Jake Elmore will start at third base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Longoria ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is receiving a day off from the field but is still in the lineup and could be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore. Elmore ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has recorded only one hit in his last nine games and probably should be avoided on FantasyScore.

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria was hitless in four at-bats with a strikeout Tuesday, June 30, against the Cleveland Indians to snap a seven-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Longo ($4,600; or 9.2% of cap) wrapped up June hitting .277 with three doubles, three homers and nine RBI with 25 strikeouts in 94 at-bats. He has been a decent mid-level FantasyScore option, but be careful of the Ks.

Rays | Evan Longoria still bothered by wrist

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 06:04:34 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria (wrist) is still bothered by his sore left wrist, but he homered in his first at-bat Saturday, June 20, against the Cleveland Indians. Manager Kevin Cash said Longoria is not at risk of causing further damage by playing.

Fantasy Tip: Longoria ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) had singled for his previous nine hits, as the wrist injury has caused a power outage. FantasyScore owners should wait to see a little more pop before investing in Longoria.

Rays | X-rays negative for Evan Longoria

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 20:40:41 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria (wrist) had X-rays after the game Monday, June 15, against the Washington Nationals. X-rays were negative, and the team said he has a bruised left wrist.

Fantasy Tip: Longoria ($4,600; or 9.2% of cap) left the game after being hit by a pitch. If he misses time it would likely be Jake Elmore ($2,400; or 4.8% of cap) filling in at third base.
