Giants | Tim Lincecum pitching well

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 23:08:10 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Lincecum held the Los Angeles Dodgers to a run on five hits and three walks while fanning five in six innings to win Tuesday, April 21. He's 1-1 with a 2.00 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP on the season.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum ($3,700, 7.4% of your cap) is still issuing too many walks, but he isn't being knocked around as much. His next start is in Coors Field, which is a resounding "no go" on FantasyScore.

Giants | Ryan Vogelsong starting Tuesday

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 09:06:16 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong will receive the start against the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday, April 7, after both SPs Matt Cain (forearm) and Jake Peavy (back) were scratched due to injuries. SPs Tim Lincecum and Chris Heston are both options to face the Snakes Wednesday, April 8.

Fantasy Tip: Vogelsong ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) went 8-13 for the Giants last year with a 4.00 ERA and 1.28 WHIP while striking out 151 batters in 184 2/3 innings over 32 starts. Last year against Arizona, he went 1-2 with a 4.40 ERA. Vogelsong also fared much better at home in 2014. He's a cheap option at FantasyScore and worth considering against a D-backs squad that is a bit offensively challenged.

Giants | Tim Lincecum to work as fifth starter

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 22:38:49 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Lincecum will open the season in the rotation as the fifth starter, manager Bruce Bochy confirmed Tuesday, March 31.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum has fallen on hard times, but he'll get a chance to work his back to prominence. For now, mixed leaguers will want to avoid him, but he is worth a flier in the late rounds on draft day in NL-only formats. At $4,200 (or 8.4% of cap), FantasyScore owners will want to see him turn in a quality start or two first before pulling the trigger on him.

Giants | Tim Lincecum had stiff neck

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 15:39:14 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Lincecum (neck) was dealing with a sore neck in his spring outing Wednesday, March 11, and it affected his delivery.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum has now posted three straight seasons with ERAs over 4.00, including 4.74 last season to go along with a 1.40 WHIP and 134 strikeouts in 155 2/3 innings. Lincecum is far from his Cy Young days in San Fran, and his K/9 has also dropped three straight years to 7.7 in 2014. He's had his share of control problems recently, and he's not missing as many bats anymore. Consider Lincecum mainly an NL-only commodity, but he's worth consideration at the tail end of deep mixed leagues, as well.

Giants | Tim Lincecum the No. 5 starter

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 09:48:34 -0800

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Lincecum has all but been named the No. 5 starter by manager Bruce Bochy. SPs Ryan Vogelsong and Gregorio Petit will start the year in the bullpen, because Bochy prefers not to have a six-man rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum will likely open as the No. 5 starter, but that spot could be a revolving door between the three as the year progresses based on performance and rest needs. As a result, there's not much intrigue surrounding Lincecum in a standard 12-team league. He's more of a candidate for an NL-only pitching staff.
