MLB | Tim Lincecum showcase coming soon

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 10:27:51 -0700

Free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants) was spotted throwing at the San Francisco Giants' Arizona complex, and he's expected to have a showcase for teams soon.

Fantasy Tip: What does Lincecum have left in the tank? It's hard to say, but the Freak's skills and velocity have tumbled the last several years mainly due to various injuries. He could become a spot starter in the deepest of leagues if he lands in the right situation and stays healthy. Stay tuned.

Marlins | Miami unlikely to add Tim Lincecum

Fri, 18 Mar 2016 17:13:13 -0700

The Miami Marlins are unlikely to sign free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants) because they believe his asking price will be too high, according to a club source.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum reportedly received interest from more than 20 MLB teams during the offseason, with several clubs considering him as a reliever. The 31-year-old righty is returning from hip surgery and should not be viewed as anything more than a late-round flier in single-universe and cavernous mixed leagues if he signs with a team that plans to use him as a starter.

Athletics | Oakland interested in Tim Lincecum?

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 19:31:48 -0800

The Oakland Athletics are among more than 20 MLB teams to have requested the medical files of free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants).

Fantasy Tip: The Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres are San Francisco Giants are among the other teams that have been connected to Lincecum this offseason. The 31-year-old right-hander is coming off hip surgery and there is no guarantee that he will be used as a starter regardless of where he lands. If he winds up with a team where he has a serious chance to win a rotation spot, he could be worth a late-round flier in single-universe or deep mixed leagues.

Padres | SD interested in Tim Lincecum?

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 09:37:01 -0800

The San Diego Padres are "very active" with free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants), according to his agent, Rick Thurman.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum is in steep decline due to injuries the last several seasons. Declining velocity is the main concern here. Even if he signs with the Padres, he's not guaranteed a starting spot. Cheap NL-only reserve if he lands with the Friars and earns a starting gig.

Orioles | Baltimore keeping tabs on Lincecum

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 13:17:20 -0800

The Baltimore Orioles are "one of several teams" that have expressed interest in free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants), according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum went 7-4 with a 4.13 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 15 starts last season with the San Francisco Giants before eventually undergoing hip surgery. The four-time All-Star hasn't posted a sub-4.37 ERA in four years and his strikeout totals have dropped precipitously over the last three. Lincecum's decline has been somewhat mitigated by the cozy dimensions of AT&T Park but would likely get exposed with the move to Camden Yards, making him a pitcher to ignore on draft day if he winds up in Baltimore.
