Angels | Ugly outing for Tim Lincecum

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 18:47:06 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum allowed eight runs on seven hits while walking two over 1 1/3 innings in a loss to the Houston Astros Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum's ERA ballooned to 8.70, and he has struggled since a solid debut. For those owners clinging to the hope of some kind of resurgence, it is time to cut bait with Lincecum.

Angels | Tim Lincecum secures second win

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 22:27:41 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum allowed five runs -- three earned -- on nine hits in five innings against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, July 19. He walked two and struck out seven.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum was far from dominant against the Rangers, but he worked his way out of trouble and did enough to win for the first time since his 2016 debut on June 18. That being said, he once again posted a WHIP above 2.00 and did little to quell doubts about his future in the rotation. Lincecum is speculative AL-only fodder at best right now.

Angels | Tim Lincecum shaky in no-decision

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 21:00:03 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum allowed five earned runs, 10 hits and a walk over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision Tuesday, July 5, against the Tampa Bay Rays. He struck out six batters in the 105-pitch outing.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum posted a win and quality start in his first outing with the Angels, but he is 0-2 with a 10.50 ERA over his past three outings. He still has electric stuff, as is evidenced by his 13 strikeouts over the past nine innings, but overall he has a 2.11 WHIP and he just isn't fooling many.

Angels | Another poor start for Tim Lincecum

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 23:19:18 -0700

Los Angeles Angels SP Tim Lincecum struck out a season-high seven in his third start of the season against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, June 28, but was tagged for a season-high five runs in 4 1/3 frames.

Fantasy Tip: Carlos Correa hit a three-run blast in the first inning and Carlos Gomez added an RBI double in the fourth before Deolis Guerra gave up another run in the fifth that was charged to Lincecum. Even though Houston isn't a great matchup for a lot of pitchers right now, it's hard to justify using the two-time Cy Young Award winner in anything outside of AL-only leagues right now.

Angels | Tim Lincecum wins in return

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 18:25:17 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum picked up the win in his first start since 2015, allowing one run on four hits while walking two and striking out two over six innings in a win over the Oakland Athletics Saturday, June 18.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum is sure to be a popular addition based on his name alone, but don't drop a proven option to gamble on Lincecum.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt serving as DH Saturday

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 12:20:49 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt is getting another break from his regular catching duties and will bat third as the designated hitter against Los Angeles Angels SP Tim Lincecum on Saturday, June 18. C Josh Phegley will get the start behind the plate and hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Vogt isn't hurting his owners in any particular category by batting .265 with five homers and 16 RBI but more was expected out of him after hitting .261 with 18 home runs and 71 RBI in 2015. He has two homer and 10 RBI since the start of May, which is very poor production for a player who spends most of his time batting third, fourth or fifth. Owners probably have little choice but to continue starting him in their lineups, but DFS players can do better.

Angels | Tim Lincecum to start Saturday

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 23:06:11 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum will make his 2016 debut on Saturday, June 18, against the Oakland Athletics. Lincecum last pitched in the majors on June 27, 2015.

Fantasy Tip: No one knows which version of Lincecum we're going to get, but he's a big name whose return should generate plenty of interest. The savvy thing to do would be to wait and see how he performs. If you're optimistic and have roster space, however, you can roll the dice and add Lincecum in the hope he's closer to the Cy Young incarnation.

Angels | Tim Lincecum to join Angels

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 16:28:45 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum will "definitely" be added to the team's rotation for this weekend's series opposite the Oakland Athletics, according to manager Mike Scioscia. He'll "probably" go Saturday, June 18.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum just capped off his stint at Class AAA Salt Lake with an outstanding outing that saw him register seven scoreless innings and eight strikeouts, while allowing only one hit and one walk. As a result, he should be scooped up immediately in deep leagues, and he'll have potential to contribute in standard formats as well.

Angels | Tim Lincecum looks sharp

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 15:23:29 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum was fabulous in his third minor league start for Class AAA Salt Lake Sunday, June 12, throwing seven scoreless innings and recording eight strikeouts. He allowed only one hit and one walk, throwing 89 pitches in all, 57 of which went for strikes.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum could very easily become a popular waiver wire addition in the coming days, so owners might need to take initiative right away on the former back-to-back NL Cy Young winner. It's possible he even joins the major league club this weekend, and based on how he's looked in the minors thus far, he could end up being a valuable contributor to fantasy teams of all formats. At the very least, he's worth a flier immediately in deeper leagues.

Angels | Tim Lincecum wants another tune-up

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 22:01:03 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum wants another outing in the minors before he makes his debut with the big club, manager Mike Scioscia said Wednesday, June 8. He will make a third tune-up start with Class AAA Salt Lake Sunday, June 12, with his first start with the big team potentially coming June 17 or 18 against the Oakland Athletics.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners will want to wait to see how he responds in his first start or two before taking a chance on him. He might be worth a look in AL-only fantasy leagues for his strikeout potential, and he could be a great value initially in DFS.
