Angels | Tim Lincecum's 2016 debut not imminent

Fri, 20 May 2016 16:53:21 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum is expected to require 20 to 30 days in the minors before being ready to join the Angels, according to general manager Billy Eppler. Lincecum's first step will be a simulated game Monday, May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum is a potential stash candidate in cavernous mixed and AL-only formats, but you'll want to take a wait-and-see approach with the hurler. He's been mediocre through the past four seasons with a 4.68 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP and 8.4 K/9 through 615 1/3 innings. And while he could surprise, you'll want to keep your expectations in check.

Angels | Tim Lincecum official with Angels

Thu, 19 May 2016 16:59:15 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum's deal with the team became official after he passed a physical Thursday, May 19. He'll make $2.5 million plus $1.75 million in incentives.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum may not be ready to rejoin the Angels for another week or two, but he's expected to have a spot on the active roster. It's unknown if he'll be starting or relieving, but the Angels surely need help on the pitching staff with all their injuries. Hip issues in recent years led to a decrease in velocity for the Freak, so even if he lands a starting gig, owners in deep mixed and AL-only leagues may want to play it safe and take a wait-and-see approach.

Angels | Tim Lincecum needs time before starting

Mon, 16 May 2016 12:49:51 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tim Lincecum is expected to require four to six weeks before being ready to join the starting rotation, in the opinion of MLB.com's Angels beat writer Alden Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: The timeline makes Lincecum a stash candidate in cavernous mixed and AL-only formats with his Angels debut likely to come in mid-June. In a best-case scenario, Lincecum could approach 20 starts for the Angels, but you'll want to take a wait-and-see approach with the veteran in the majority of seasonal leagues.

Angels | Tim Lincecum finalizing deal with Angels

Mon, 16 May 2016 12:39:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants) is finalizing a contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, sources have confirmed.

Fantasy Tip: Reiterating a previous tip, Lincecum has been mediocre at best over the past four seasons (4.68 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 8.4 K/9 through 615 1/3 innings) and fantasy owners shouldn't overvalue the former Cy Young winner. There is potential for Lincecum to be a viable option in deep mixed leagues, but at this point, it is likely best to leave him to cavernous mixed and single-universe formats.

He is a viable flier for owners in cavernous mixed and single-universe leagues, but you'll want to keep expectations in check. Stay tuned for updates.

MLB | Tim Lincecum has three teams in on him

Thu, 12 May 2016 09:52:56 -0700

Free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants) has the most interest from the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Chicago White Sox. The San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners aren't interested. Lincecum isn't close to a decision.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum's stuff plays better in the National League, but the Giants have been interested in him as a reliever. He could be worth a flyer depending on the park and league he lands in.

Phillies | Phils interested in Tim Lincecum?

Sun, 08 May 2016 07:26:03 -0700

The Philadelphia Phillies had a scout present at the showcase for free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants) Friday, May 6. However, it is unknown if the team has serious interest in the 31-year-old right-hander or if they were just doing their due diligence.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum should remain on the radar of owners in single-universe and deep mixed fantasy leagues and could be worth rostering if he signs with a club and is given a spot in the starting rotation.

MLB | Tim Lincecum shines in showcase

Fri, 06 May 2016 16:57:22 -0700

Free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants) looked good during a 41-pitch showcase for scouts from almost every major league team Friday, May 6. He threw a mix of pitches and was consistently hitting 88 to 91 mph with his fastball. Lincecum hasn't pitched since June 27 of last season with the San Francisco Giants. He's hoping to catch on with a team soon, preferably as a starter.

Fantasy Tip: Several teams have rotation issues and could probably use Lincecum, most notably the Angels. However, it remains to be seen how effective he can be in the big leagues after declining the past few seasons due to injuries. Keep him in your radar in deep mixed and NL-only leagues if he latches on with a team and is given a rotation spot.

MLB | Tim Lincecum eyes starting

Tue, 03 May 2016 08:23:19 -0700

Free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants), who will throw in a showcase Friday, May 6, still wants to be a starter. The San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Washington Nationals, Baltimore Orioles and Miami Marlins are expected to be among the many teams attending the showcase. The Giants are interested in him as a reliever.

Fantasy Tip: Lincecum could be worth stashing in NL-only leagues. He has still shown the ability to strike hitters out, but his command has been an issue for years. He's a watch list player in mixed leagues.
