Pittsburgh Pirates OF Jose Tabata (undisclosed) is leaving the game early Wednesday, April 16, after slamming into the left field wall while making a catch. His head and shoulder collided with the wall.
Fantasy Tip: Tabata hit the wall extremely hard, but it's unknown if his injury is to his head, shoulder or something else. He walked off the field gingerly with trainers helping him. Travis Snider figures to see increased playing time, depending on the nature of Tabata's injury. Also, the Bucs could bring up prospect Gregory Blanco, who is off to a red hot start in the minors.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are confident using OF Travis Snider in the second spot of the order, bridging the gap between leadoff hitter OF Starling Marte and third spot hitter OF Andrew McCutchen. "We're optimistic that the (on-base percentage) will play out in the major league level close to what it was in the minor leagues," manager Clint Hurdle said. "He had the best spring we've seen. Moved around in the outfield and on the bases the best since we've had him."

Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle continues to try and figure out the team's left field and first base positions this spring. 2B Michael Martinez, who is a switch hitter and can play second base and the outfield, is the only one who has distinguished himself in the game Monday, March 11. OFs Andrew Lambo, Jaff Decker, Chris Dickerson, Chris McGuiness and Travis Snider and 1B Travis Ishikawa are all in the mix. "We'll just keep giving them opportunities to play. We'll keep giving them at-bats and see where they take them," said Hurdle, who has begun to divide what he refers to as "separation" among the candidates. "But I'm not gonna seed them for you."

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco could find that right field is his job by mid-June if OFs Travis Snider and Jose Tabata fail to produce. Even if the two put up decent numbers, beat writer Rob Biertempfel believes it is just a matter of time before Polanco arrives.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Travis Snider (toe) is expected to return next month. He spent a week in a walking boot and received a platelet-rich plasma injection and is now taking swings and doing running drills. Snider made some mechanical tweaks to his swing before the All-Star break and continues to tinker.
Fantasy Tip: Snider might not find much playing time when he returns, however, now that Andrew Lambo is receiving playing time in right field. As a result, his ownership should be limited to NL-only leagues.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Travis Snider (toe) took batting practice on Tuesday, Aug. 13, for the first time since landing on the disabled list in late July. He also had a "frisky" workout in the outfield.
Fantasy Tip: What got into that cat? Whatever it is, it may not be enough to play often if Andrew Lambo takes off. Lambo's questionable plate discipline may keep the door open for Snider and Jose Tabata in the long run, but Lambo has the kind of pop that the Bucs really want in there regularly.
