Yankees | Chris Parmelee out for a while

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 06:25:24 -0700

New York Yankees 1B Chris Parmelee (hamstring) is expected to be sidelined for at least one month because of a strained hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: Rob Refsnyder should continue to see most of the starts at first base for the time being. He has only one hit in his last eight games and should only be used in AL-only leagues at this point.

Yankees | Chris Parmelee to DL

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 11:56:08 -0700

New York Yankees 1B Chris Parmelee (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain Friday, June 10. RP Chad Green was recalled from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: The Yanks are dropping like flies with Mark Teixeira (knee) already on the DL. Rob Refsnyder probably benefits the most and could see playing time at first base alongside Austin Romine. Refsnyder is hitting only .208 (5-for-24) on the season, though, and he's limited offensively. Consider him only for depth in AL-only leagues.

Yankees | Nick Swisher could see action

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 19:42:55 -0700

New York OF Nick Swisher and OF Ben Gamel are two potential candidates to replace 1B Chris Parmelee (hamstring).

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen how much time Parmelee will miss. Swisher could be worth a flier in AL-leagues, but with his best years well behind him, don't expect much.

Yankees | Chris Parmelee injures hamstring

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 18:48:30 -0700

New York Yankees 1B Chris Parmelee (hamstring) had to be helped off the field against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Thursday, June 9, after injuring his hamstring stretching for a throw.

Fantasy Tip: Mark Teixeira is already sidelined, and if Parmelee has to miss time, Rob Refsnyder would likely see plenty of playing time, but he wouldn't be an appealing fantasy option.

Yankees | Chris Parmelee shines in victory

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 22:06:18 -0700

New York Yankees 1B Chris Parmelee went 3-for-5 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored and three RBIs Wednesday, June 8, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Fantasy Tip: With Mark Teixeira out at least a few more weeks, Parmelee and Rob Refsnyder will split the duties at first base. Both players are worth a look in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues and in DFS when starting.

Yankees | Chase Headley, Rob Refsnyder out

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 14:00:22 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley and 2B Rob Refsnyder are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver Wednesday, June 8. 1B Chris Parmelee will start at first base and is batting eighth, while INF Ronald Torreyes will start at third base and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Parmelee has not receive any at-bats since joining the team, so owners should avoid him for the time being. Torreyes is hitting .269 in limited playing time this season but is not a great fantasy option.

Yankees | Mark Teixeira update

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 16:44:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (knee) plans to put off a knee debridement procedure because it would be a "four-to-six-month recover." Instead he will receive cortisone injections to help reduce swelling and pain and receive rest and treatment with hopes that he can return in three weeks. Manager Joe Girardi said he plans to use 2B Rob Refsnyder and 1B Chris Parmelee at first in the meantime. Teixeira had the same type of surgery on his left knee in 2007 and said "it's not a fun surgery." He doesn't think he'll be limited when he returns.

Fantasy Tip: At Tex's age (36), it's no guarantee he'll be back in three weeks or that he'll be any more productive than he's been this year (.180-3-12). He did hit 31 homers in 2015, so there's hope that he can produce some power for your lineup in the second half, but it's looking more like a pipe dream now. He's probably not worth stashing in the majority of mixed leagues.

Yankees | Mark Teixeira placed on DL

Sat, 04 Jun 2016 07:10:11 -0700

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (knee) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, June 4, because of an articular cartilage tear in his right knee. The team also recalled 1B Chris Parmelee from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye out for a possible timetable for Teixeira. Parmelee may be the most likely candidate to start at first base while Teixeira is sidelined. He is hitting .252 with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 43 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Parmelee probably should only be considered in AL-only leagues at this point, but owners in deeper mixed leagues could keep an eye on him if he plays well. Rob Refsnyder could also see some playing time at first base but is an AL-only option.
