Astros | Doug Fister breaks losing streak

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 22:20:30 -0700

Houston Astros SP Doug Fister surrendered three runs on five hits in five innings against the Seattle Mariners on Friday, July 15, to earn his ninth win of the season. He had lost each of his three previous outings.

Fantasy Tip: Fister was strong early but struggled in the fifth and was removed after throwing 96 pitches, so clearly he wasn't at his best. Still, it was enough to get the veteran back in the win column after an 8-3 start gave way to a 0-3 stretch. Fister is a middling option in standard leagues.

Astros | Doug Fister rolls to eighth win

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 23:02:56 -0700

Houston Astros SP Doug Fister allowed two earned runs, four hits and two walks with five strikeouts over seven innings in a victory against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Monday, June 20. The Astros have won Fister's past 10 starts, and he has lasted at least 5 2/3 innings while allowing three or fewer runs in each of those outings.

Fantasy Tip: Fister has tied the longest winning streak of his career. He is cruising along with a 3.21 ERA and 1.20 WHIP, re-emerging as a must-start in all fantasy leagues this season.

Astros | Doug Fister wins sixth straight

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 21:55:42 -0700

Houston Astros SP Doug Fister won his sixth consecutive decision Tuesday, June 14, against the St. Louis Cardinals. The veteran right-hander registered 7 1/3 innings of two-run ball, yielding five hits and one walk while also striking out six.

Fantasy Tip: Fister has quietly been enjoying a renaissance season in his first year in Houston, as he's now delivered quality starts in nine of his past 10 outings to move to 7-3 on the year. The encouraging things about this particular outing were that he matched his season high in strikeouts, while the innings pitched were also a season high for the 32-year-old. With the way he's going right now, Fister is worth starting in all formats.

Astros | Doug Fister walks the park

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 23:52:08 -0700

Houston Astros SP Doug Fister walked a career-high seven batters in his loss to the Seattle Mariners Monday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: Fister is 1-3 with a 5.56 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP and 11 K's in 22 2/3 innings. He could be in danger of losing his rotation spot, especially with Lance McCullers (shoulder) not too far from a return. Fister is only worth keeping in AL-only leagues.
