Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis struck out in all four plate appearances in a 4-3 loss to the New York Yankees Thursday, May 7, and he has struck out a combined 17 times in his last seven games.
Fantasy Tip: Despite all the strikeouts, Davis ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) does have two home runs and five RBIs during the same seven-game stretch. Even at his best, Davis tends to strikeout a lot, but his power potential keeps him relevant at FantasyScore. He is a gamble, but he is a gamble with plenty of upside.

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis completed the Boston Red Sox series Sunday, April 26, having gone 5-for-11 with two home runs, a double, a walk and six runs batted in.
Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) had been off to a slow start, so this might help him regain some confidence. As long as his salary is lower, it is worth paying to put him in the lineup.

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis is 11-for-45 (.244) with two homers and seven RBI in his first 12 games. He has struck out 21 times and walked once.
Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,000, 8.0% of your cap) is an all-or-nothing kind of player right now and is probably relegated to matchup plays on FantasyScore.

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis was dropped to sixth in the batting order Tuesday, April 14, against the New York Yankees.
Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,000, 8% of cap) is slumping to start the season, and Steve Pearce ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is batting fourth. Davis struck out four times on Monday, April 13, so he should be avoided until whatever slump he is in is over.

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis has served his full suspension and will be back in the lineup Tuesday, April 7, against the Tampa Bay Rays. C Steve Clevenger was sent to Triple-A Norfolk.
Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) didn't have the best of seasons last year, and this was before the suspension at the end of the year. Davis should have a favorable matchup with Tampa Bay SP Nathan Karns, so he is worth picking up for Tuesday's game.

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis will begin the season on the restricted list and miss opening day Monday, April 6.
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Davis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) in FantasyScore's opening day contests. He is a nice upside play at his price point when he returns, though. Especially against right-handing pitching, as he has a career .852 OPS against them. Expect a bounce-back year from Davis in seasonal leagues, too. He is an excellent mid-round power option in drafts.

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis will receive playing time in right field during spring training, according to manager Buck Showalter.
Fantasy Tip: Davis' 2014 showing may drive his fantasy stock into profit territory during drafts this spring. He launched 26 round trippers in an otherwise horrible season, so don't let him fall too far into the middle rounds on draft day. His 2012 numbers (75 runs, 33 home runs, 85 RBIs, .270/.326/.501 slash line) are likely his ceiling.

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis plans to change his approach at the plate, after finishing the 2014 season hitting just .196. He is considering bunting more often in order to take advantage of opponents increasingly using the shift against him. "There were times last year when I did lay a bunt down, but for me it's really a comfort thing," Davis said during a radio interview with 105.3 The Fan. "It's different going out there and working off a machine or even a BP arm and laying balls down the third base line and going into a game and doing it. For me, it was just a comfort thing and I have worked on it this offseason. I've probably worked on it more this offseason than I have in the past. If it's a one-run game, I'm probably not going to lay one down, but there are situations where unselfishly it's probably the best thing to do. It's definitely a weapon I can use against other teams."

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis is a long-shot candidate to be moved to right field for the upcoming season. Alejandro De Aza and Steve Pearce are currently projected to be the team's starting corner outfielders, with Dariel Alvarez, David Lough and Henry Urrutia also in the mix. If Davis is moved to right field, Pearce and Christian Walker would likely to split time at first base.
