Orioles | Chris Davis homers in fifth straight

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 14:08:51 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis continued to torment the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, June 12, going deep for a fifth straight game - one shy of the club record he owns along with Reggie Jackson (1976) - with a two-run blast. Davis has 17 home runs in 44 career games at Rogers Centre and 35 homers against the Blue Jays since 2008, more than any other opponent.

Fantasy Tip: Davis' .228 average and 84 strikeouts - third-most in the majors - are eyesores, but 16 home runs, 39 RBI and 46 runs scored after 61 games will play in any fantasy league. The strikeouts are unlikely to slow down based on his prodigious totals in that area the last four seasons, but he's a good bet to increase his average in short order and maintain his pace in the power categories. Even though he has struggled this season against the Boston Red Sox - the Orioles' next opponent - keep Davis active in all leagues.

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis homered for the third straight game, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk in a 4-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, June 10.

Fantasy Tip: Davis is a boom-or-bust fantasy option, but his power is undeniable. Take a chance on him in daily formats while he is locked in.

Orioles | Chris Davis should return Thursday

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 15:44:05 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis (thumb) should be back in the lineup Thursday, June 9, according to manager Buck Showalter. He's dealing with a couple of physical issues.

Fantasy Tip: That's a relief for his fantasy owners, as Davis was not in the lineup Wednesday, but it looks like his nagging injuries will cost him just one game. As a result, owners can feel free to reinsert him back into all lineups for Thursday as long as his name appears in the batting order.

Orioles | Chris Davis nursing nagging injuries

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 13:49:37 -0700

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis (undisclosed) is "dealing with some nagging" injuries, manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday, June 8.

Fantasy Tip: It's a long season, and the odd night off isn't going to hurt Davis' final stat line. He remains a high-end source of power and should be started in all fantasy formats.

Orioles | Chris Davis sitting vs. Royals

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 12:08:41 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 8. OF Nolan Reimold draws into the lineup and is starting in right field and batting eighth against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Davis has been struggling through his past 25 games with a .174/.324/.337 slash line with just three home runs and seven RBI. It appears to be a routine night off for the first baseman, and despite his recent slump, Davis remains a high-end source of power in all fantasy formats. Reimold has fared well when given a chance this season with a .291/.347/.500 line, and he should be viewed as a depth piece in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues.

Orioles | Chris Davis clubs 12th home run

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 21:11:31 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and strikeout Tuesday, June 7, against the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: This stat line is a microcosm of what Davis can do for fantasy players. He homers a lot, he struggles with the batting average and he also strikes out plenty.

Orioles | Chris Davis reaches milestone

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 19:38:58 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, walk and two runs scored Friday, June 3, against the New York Yankees. It was his 100th career home run at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, third-most in franchise history.

Fantasy Tip: Davis snapped a 12-game drought without a home run and with just one RBI during the span. He remains too valuable from a power perspective to consider reserving in most fantasy leagues despite his paltry .218 batting average and lack of power lately.

Orioles | Chris Davis has good history against Porcello

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 12:26:46 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis is 8-for-26 with three home runs in his career against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello, who he faces Thursday, June 2.

Fantasy Tip: Nobody is benching Davis in seasonal leagues, so carry on as usual. But in daily contests, tonight would be the perfect time to pay up for the Orioles slugger because of his juicy history against Porcello.

Orioles | Chris Davis drives in four runs

Wed, 11 May 2016 14:40:37 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, a home run and four RBI during the Orioles' 9-2 win over the Minnesota Twins Wednesday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: It's been a characteristic start for Davis, and he currently sits with nine home runs, 23 RBI and a .242/.350/.508 slash line. Davis is a set-and-forget staple for your seasonal lineups.

Orioles | Chris Davis snaps skid

Sun, 08 May 2016 00:05:26 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis hit his eighth homer of the season Sunday, May 7, in a 5-2 win over the Oakland Athletics. The homer snapped a seven-game homerless skid and a streak of 16 at-bats without a hit.

Fantasy Tip: Davis smacked 47 homers and hit .262 last year. This season he is off to a .210 start and is on track to finish below those numbers in both categories. Time to panic? Not at all. Keep an eye on Davis as a legitimate fantasy threat, but know that power hitters often go through plate slumps.
