Athletics | Outfield for Ben Zobrist?

Mon, 25 May 2015 02:13:27 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) may head to left field when he comes off the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) usually plays at second base, but Eric Sogard is having a decent time there and left field seems to be a mess with Sam Fuld, Craig Gentry and Mark Canha all platooning. This may be the best way to get Zobrist some at-bats, but you may want to wait on those at-bats until he gets healthier.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist could return Monday

Sat, 23 May 2015 17:27:49 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) could be activated from the disabled list Monday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) hasn't played since April 24, and he may need a few games for his timing to come back. Take a wait-and-see approach with Zobrist at FantasyScore in his first game back.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist continues rehab

Fri, 22 May 2015 14:31:31 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) will play nine innings in left field for Class AAA Nashville Friday, May 22, and he will serve as the designated hitter Saturday, May 23. He'll be at second base for the Sounds Sunday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) could be on track to return to the A's early next week if he avoids a setback this weekend. He will take over the starting second base duties, most likely, from Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), who has been a low-end keystone play. However, Zobrist can also move around in the outfield, giving Oakland plenty of options. Unless he has a matchup you can't pass up, you should be hesitant in throwing Zobrist directly into your FantasyScore lineups when he's back.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist continues rehab

Wed, 20 May 2015 09:46:15 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) will play seven innings in the outfield with Class A Stockton (Calif.) Wednesday, May 20, and then he'll move his rehab to Class AAA Fresno (Calif.) to play Friday, May 22.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is nearing a return and should return to starting second base duties when he's ready. That'll push Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) back to a bench role. Sogard is a low-end keystone play at FantasyScore in the meantime.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist to play some 2B

Mon, 18 May 2015 15:18:20 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) is expected to play five innings at second base with Class A Stockton (Calif.) Tuesday, May 19.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is slowly working his way back from a knee ailment and probably won't rejoin Oakland's lineup until early next month. In the meantime, Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) remains the fill-in starter at the keystone, and he's a low-end second base option at FantasyScore.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist starting rehab Monday?

Wed, 13 May 2015 11:16:41 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) is expected to make multiple minor league stops during a rehab assignment, and his rehab could start Monday, May 18.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist won't be back anytime soon, though, and Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has served as the primary fill-in second baseman. Sogard is merely a low-end matchup play at the keystone for FantasyScore users.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist to take BP

Mon, 11 May 2015 16:47:13 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) will take batting practice Tuesday, May 12.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) doesn't have a timetable for his return, and it won't be until sometime in June before he's ready to return to the lineup. Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should continue to see regular playing time at the keystone in the meantime. Consider Sogard a weak second base play at FantasyScore while hitting at the bottom of the Oakland lineup.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist takes swings

Thu, 07 May 2015 14:33:18 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) took some swings off a tee Thursday, May 7, as he rehabs from left knee surgery. There is no timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist won't be back for at least another month. Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will continue to man the keystone on a daily basis with Zobrist out, but he's nothing more than a low-end FantasyScore second base option.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist's rehab going well

Wed, 06 May 2015 15:33:44 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist's (knee) rehab is going very well, and he's completely pain-free. However, he has yet to resume hitting, but the team is hoping he can return quickly.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist still faces a long recovery from knee surgery, and he won't be an option at FantasyScore for some time. In the meantime, it looks like Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will continue to serve as the starter at second base, but he's a low-end keystone option in daily games.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist injury update

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 15:37:09 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) underwent a knee scope Tuesday, April 28. He said he felt "good" after a 20-minute session on the exercise bike, and that his return will depend on how his knee responds to increased activity. Zobrist is hoping to return closer to the four weeks benchmark of his timeline than the six weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to avoid Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) in FantasyScore contests and stashing him in seasonal leagues. Eric Sogard's ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) playing time will increase with Zobrist out, but Sogard hardly tips the fantasy scale. Consider Sogard a desperation flier in FantasyScore contests until he proves otherwise.
