Rays | Alex Cobb to start opening day

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 10:56:51 -0800

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Cobb will start the team's opening day game in 2015, according to manager Kevin Cash. Cobb went 10-9 with a 2.87 ERA in 27 starts in 2014 and is the team's ace after SP David Price was traded to the Detroit Tigers. SPs Chris Archer and Drew Smyly will follow Cobb in the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb has really come into his own as the Rays' ace starter. He's a notch below the elite fantasy ace names out there, but he could put up just as good numbers in a full season, making him a bargain in the middle rounds of standard 12-team leagues.

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 06:26:06 -0800

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Cobb was named the opening day starter Wednesday, March 4.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb has bloomed into a low-end SP2 in fantasy, but his rebuilding team may hold him back in the win column. That could provide a discount on draft day.
