Dodgers | Brett Anderson accepts offer

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 14:59:32 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson accepted a one-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer from the Dodgers Friday, Nov. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Returning to the Dodgers should help Anderson continue his career resurrection. His ground-ball tendencies aided him in limiting opponents and posting a 3.69 ERA, but otherwise, his stats were mediocre at best -- 10 wins, 1.33 WHIP and 5.8 K/9. He should be viewed as a spot starter or streaming option in favorable matchup in the majority of seasonal leagues entering 2016.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson receives qualifying offer

Fri, 06 Nov 2015 17:42:16 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson received a one-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer from the team Friday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has one week to accept the team's qualifying offer or become a free agent. If he signs with another club, the Dodgers would receive a compensatory pick in next year's draft. Anderson went 10-9 with a 3.69 ERA in a career-high 31 regular-season starts this year, following several injury-plagued seasons. He should be drafted in the middle rounds of NL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues next spring.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson a ground-ball specialist

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 14:22:53 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson posted a 66.3% ground-ball rate this season, which was the highest mark in the league and the highest since the 2006 season. Anderson is starting Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the New York Mets Monday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) faces a tall task attempting to limit the Mets lineup, although his ground-ball tendencies should help. He also pitched much better on the road this season with a 3.07 ERA over his 15 road outings. Still, Anderson is nothing more than a dice roll as your No. 2 starter at FantasyScore Monday.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson on plenty of rest

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 09:10:44 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson will be on 11 days of rest when he takes the mound against the New York Mets in Game 3 of the division series Monday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) had a pretty solid 2015 season but did allow 11 runs over two starts in September in an otherwise clean month to enter the playoffs. It's hard to say what how the long layoff will affect him against the Mets Monday, and he's a risk/reward pick on FantasyScore for your second pitching spot.

Dodgers | NLDS rotation for Dodgers

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 16:43:25 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw will start Game 1 of the division series against the New York Mets Friday, Oct. 9, followed by SP Zack Greinke Saturday, Oct. 10, and SP Brett Anderson Monday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to argue against Kershaw ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) or Greinke ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) as one of your FantasyScore aces in the divisional round, but they're all the top two most expensive playoff pitchers. Anderson ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) is a sleeper as a second starter.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson earns win Thursday

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 17:46:30 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson (10-9) allowed two runs on four hits over 7 2/3 innings in a victory over the San Francisco Giants Thursday, Oct. 1, with no walks and three strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) set career highs in games started (31) and innings pitched (180 1/3) this year and ended the regular season on a high note, after having allowed 11 runs over 8 2/3 innings in his previous two outings. His inconsistency makes him a somewhat risky play in FantasyScore.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson gives up the longball

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 04:19:51 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson gave up five runs and 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings, including homers to Arizona Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas and 2B Aaron Hill, as the Dodgers lost 8-4 on Monday, Sept. 21. Anderson's 17 home runs allowed are the most on the Dodgers' staff.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has not been a Dodger disaster this year, but his 9-9 record is cause for concern. His higher FantasyScore salary suggests a pitcher you should sit down for the time being.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson will be pushed back

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 21:31:27 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson (calf) will not make his next scheduled start Saturday, Sept. 12, due to a calf injury. He was injured in his last start Sunday, Sept. 6. Anderson might pitch Tuesday, Sept. 15, against the Colorado Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: With Anderson ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) sidelined it will be Mike Bolsinger ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) starting Saturday instead. Avoid Anderson until he can officially return and make it through a full start without any setbacks.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson expects to make next start

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 16:32:10 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson (calf) said his calf feels fine, and he expects to make his next start.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) held the San Diego Padres to one earned run and four hits in 5 2/3 innings Sunday with four walks and four strikeouts. He hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in a game since Aug. 10 against the Washington Nationals, and he remains among the best in the game at inducing ground balls. He's typically a nice option for your second starting spot on FantasyScore, depending on the matchup.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson induces a lot grounders

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 05:56:44 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson's 66.1% ground-ball rate leads all qualified starting pitchers this season.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) starts against the Cincinnati Reds Saturday, Aug. 15, and he stands as a potential No. 2 pitcher for FantasyScore players. Just note, he is coming off of his worst start of the season and allowed seven runs on 10 hits and three walks over five innings against the Washington Nationals Monday, Aug. 10.
