Dodgers | Brett Anderson likely for Tuesday

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 14:39:42 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson (Achilles') is expected to start against the Oakland Athletics Tuesday, July 28, according to manager Don Mattingly. Mattingly noted he wanted to provide Anderson with extra rest for his ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) carries a slight injury risk for his next start, and it wouldn't be out of the question to fade him at FantasyScore. Prior to his injury-shortened outing Tuesday, July 21, Anderson had a 3.17 ERA with 77 strikeouts over 18 outings and 108 innings pitched. He has settled in as a low-end fantasy arm in all mixed formats.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson says he is ready to go

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 13:52:34 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson (Achilles') threw a bullpen session Friday, July 24, and said he can start Sunday, July 26, or Tuesday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: It would be wise to wait for an official announcement on when Anderson ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) will start before making any fantasy decisions. Taking the mound against the New York Mets Sunday would make his health risk a lot easier to swallow, although the Oakland Athletics haven't been world-beaters, either. Check back for an update concerning Anderson's next start.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson receives good news

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 16:09:23 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson (Achilles') had an MRI Wednesday, July 22, and the Dodgers are happy with the results. The MRI revealed inflammation around the tendon but no tear. Anderson hopes to play catch Thursday and throw a bullpen session Friday, July 24, and he wouldn't rule himself out from starting Sunday, July 26.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) has allowed three earned runs in each of his past three starts, including the injury shortened outing Tuesday. Anderson had allowed a total of three runs in his previous three starts, and he's an adequate FantasyScore play in GPP tournaments when healthy.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson improving

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 07:43:02 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson (Achilles') reported significant improvement Wednesday, July 22, and he's undergoing an MRI on his Achilles'.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) should probably be avoided for a start if he avoids the disabled list.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson injures Achilles'

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 19:22:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson (Achilles') left his start Tuesday, July 21, against the Atlanta Braves due to irritation of his left Achilles' tendon area. He will be re-evaluated Wednesday, July 22.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if Anderson will be forced to miss time as a result of the injury, but if he is forced to the 15-day disabled list look for the Cole Hamels trade talk to ramp up to full volume.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson leaves outing

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 18:06:52 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson (ankle, foot) suffered an apparent ankle or foot injury in his start against the Atlanta Braves Tuesday, July 21. He was pursuing a pop-up and seemed to catch his foot in the grass in foul ground.

Fantasy Tip: There is no report of the exact source or severity of his injury, but FantasyScore players should avoid him at $7,200 (or 14.4% of cap) until he can prove his health again. If he has a long-term injury, the Cole Hamels trade rumors will be in full force in L.A.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson inducing lots of grounders

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 15:24:12 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson has a 65.8% ground-ball rate over his past six games, which is the highest mark of all qualified starters over the past 30 days.

Fantasy Tip: During the span, Anderson ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) has a 3-1 record, a 2.48 ERA and 30 strikeouts over 40 innings. He has pitched more innings this year than in any season since 2010. He is a nice buy-low candidate in seasonal leagues and worth a look in FantasyScore contests in favorable matchups.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson had solid June

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 13:09:36 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson went 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA over five starts in June, and he allowed a single run on five hits over seven innings with 10 strikeouts in his last start against the Miami Marlins. Anderson faces the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) is a viable No. 2 starter option for FantasyScore players Wednesday, however, counting on another high-strikeout total might prove to be ill-advised. Even with the 10-strikeout showing last time out, Anderson has a 6.3 K/9 for the season.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson fans 10

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 05:48:33 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson struck out 10 batters through seven innings while allowing a single run on five hits and a walk during the Dodgers 7-1 win over the Miami Marlins Friday, June 26. Anderson earned his fourth victory of the season in the outing.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson's ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) 89 innings this season are the most he has pitched in one year since the 2010 campaign. He sports respectable ratios (3.13 ERA, 1.29 WHIP), but his win (four) and strikeout (62) columns leave a lot to be desired. He currently should be viewed as a low-end option in mixed leagues and a matchup play at FantasyScore.

Dodgers | Brett Anderson good at home

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 13:56:08 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson is 1-1 with a 2.78 ERA in six career starts at Dodger Stadium. He has two quality starts in three outings against the Arizona Diamondbacks this year, but didn't record a decision in either outing.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) profiles as a good play tonight in daily contests. The D-backs lineup is weakened with the departure of Mark Trumbo to the American League, and this game will take place in a pitching-friendly environment, where Anderson has excelled.
