Vikings | Adrian Peterson discontent in Minnesota?

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 13:30:22 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is wanted back in Minnesota, but the question is if Peterson wants to come back. Head coach Mike Zimmer said he doesn't believe Peterson would be a disruption if he did return to the Vikings. "I want him to want to be [in Minnesota], like I want all of my players to want to be there. I've been in situations before that I thought were not the best situations." Zimmer added that he thinks his football relationship with Peterson is a good one in its current state.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson reportedly wants out of Minnesota, so it remains to be seen exactly what his fantasy value will be in 2015. The Vikings are still very much in the Peterson sweepstakes, however. No matter where he plays, Peterson has proven to be an elite fantasy running back during his years in Minnesota. He should still be considered a top fantasy running back even if he leaves, although the amount of playing time could obviously differ.

Vikings | No plans to trade Adrian Peterson

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 07:43:03 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is disgruntled and reportedly wants out of Minnesota, but head coach Mike Zimmer said the team has no plans to trade him.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's value would increase a bit on a better team, and it's hard to envision this situation mending. It's still possible he stays in Minnesota, but either way, he's a low- to mid-RB1 on draft day.

Vikings | Agent wants Adrian Peterson to move on

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 16:48:08 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, said Monday, March 23, that he doesn't think "it's in Adrian's best interest to play in Minnesota" in 2015 and beyond. Peterson remains under contract with the Vikings, and the team brass expects him to remain in Minnesota. Dogra also refused a meeting with general manager Rick Spielman several days ago.

Fantasy Tip: The situation between Peterson and the Vikings could get a little messy. If he doesn't return to Minnesota, he could be traded or sit out another season. It's likely that Peterson will be playing somewhere in 2015, and if he is, he should be considered an option for the top overall fantasy selection.

Vikings | MIN GM expects Adrian Peterson to stay

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 14:55:47 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is expected to be part of the Vikings next season, according to general manager Rick Spielman. "Adrian's a member of our football team," Spielman said. "He is under contract with us, and we are focused on the 2015 season and expect Adrian to be a part of that." Peterson has met with team officials twice this offseason to discuss his future. Spielman would not say if Peterson has asked for a trade or if the team has received interest from other teams.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson likely will be a starting running back next season, but it is not known which team he will play for in 2015. Owners should consider selecting Peterson in first rounds of drafts next season since he has been a fantasy star in previous seasons.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson wants out of Minny?

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 09:42:47 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's preference is to play elsewhere than with the Vikings in 2015, according to a league source. He is under contract through the 2017 season and is scheduled to make $12.75 million this year. The Vikings look like they'd be willing to pay him in 2015, and a restructured contract would likely be appealing for Peterson. Minnesota could call Peterson's bluff and force him to decide between playing this year or sitting out a second straight season.

Fantasy Tip: The situation between Minnesota and Peterson is a bit messy and is far from a conclusion. The bottom line for fantasy football: If Peterson is playing somewhere in 2015, he'll be worth a top overall pick in fantasy drafts. Period.

Vikings | HC changing stance on Adrian Peterson?

Sun, 22 Mar 2015 17:28:59 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's future remains unclear, but head coach Mike Zimmer recently said that the Vikings are "excited" to have him back. Zimmer had previously said that if Peterson wanted out of Minnesota that the Vikings would accommodate the request.

Fantasy Tip: It is believed that Peterson wants out of Minnesota, but if the Vikings can't find an acceptable trade offer, it is possible that he could return to the team. He will likely have RB1 value wherever he lands, but the situation remains ongoing.

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 16:06:29 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's agent was asked to have a dinner meeting with general manager Rick Spielman at the NFL owners meeting, but his agent rejected the offer.

Fantasy Tip: The Vikings have said they will not release Peterson, so it appears like Peterson will enter training camp as a member of the team at this point. Peterson will be a top fantasy running back wherever he plays next season and likely will be taken in the first round of drafts.

Vikings | Minnesota wants Adrian Peterson back

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 11:32:03 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is clearly wanted back by the organization, and general manager Rick Spielman once again stressed that they will make every effort to bring back their star running back in 2015. "Adrian is under contract and a member of our football team," Spielman said. "We've stated that, our owner has stated it, our head coach has stated it. There is no question that we want Adrian Peterson back on our football team." The Vikings recently informed Peterson that they will not release him, but a trade remains possible. Minnesota could also sign Peterson to a less expensive three-year deal but guarantee him more money.

Fantasy Tip: Unless the Vikings trade Peterson, he may have no other choice but to play in Minnesota in 2015. It wouldn't be a terrible thing, as the Vikings recently upgraded their aerial game with Mike Wallace. Peterson should continue to be in consideration for a top overall fantasy pick no matter where he plays.

Cardinals | Arizona willing to trade for Peterson?

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 11:22:16 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson remains unhappy with the Vikings. The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly willing to offer a high draft pick in return for Peterson, if he becomes available.

Fantasy Tip: A trade of Peterson to the Cardinals would be very intriguing. Despite likely sharing some touches with Andre Ellington, Peterson would surely be the team's No. 1 back, and he'd be in consideration for the No. 1 overall fantasy draft pick.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson won't come cheap

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 09:38:55 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson, who won't be released by the team, is scheduled to make $12.75 million in 2015, and the feeling is that he won't come cheaply in a trade. The Vikings are believed to be looking for at least a second-round pick and another piece in a potential trade. Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, may be trying to facilitate a trade by effectively telling all 31 other teams that the only way to acquire his client is through a trade.

Fantasy Tip: The longer Peterson goes remaining with Minnesota, the likelier it is that he plays for them in 2015. However, the Vikes still have around six weeks before the draft to trade him to another squad. Wherever Peterson is playing this year, he's likely to be worth a top overall pick in fantasy drafts after sitting out for almost all of 2014.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's agent was told Wednesday, March 18, by general manager Rick Spielman that the running back will not be released by the team.

Cardinals | ARI saying no to Adacrian Peterson?

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 23:07:35 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson may not be going to the Arizona Cardinals. A reliable source close to the team has said the Cardinals wouldn't add Peterson with three years and $45 million left on his contract.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Minnesota wanted to move Peterson, it may find the going rough with his contract and him being out of football for a year. Peterson is still a decent selection in all fantasy leagues, however, as he should hit the ground running upon his return.

Vikings | Minnesota willing to pay Adrian Peterson?

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 14:46:39 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is likely to remain with the team heading into 2015, as the Vikes appear willing to pay Peterson for the rest of his contract.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson should be a candidate for the top overall fantasy pick in 2015 regardless of whether he stays with the Vikings this year. Having almost a full year off will make him fresh for the upcoming season, too.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson meeting with Vikes again

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 11:46:45 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson will meet with the team again after meeting with general manager Rick Spielman and ownership Monday, March 9, according to source with knowledge of the situation. Peterson also met with owners Zygi and Mark Wilf Monday about his concerns about returning in 2015. Peterson was put back on the commissioner's exempt list, which has allowed Minnesota to resume contact with him.

Fantasy Tip: It's still unknown if Peterson will return to play for the Vikings in 2015, and they could trade him once the rest of the running back free-agent picture shakes out. Regardless, Peterson seems like a lock for a top-five fantasy draft pick if he's playing in 2015, which is expected. He could be a strong consideration for the top overall pick, too, depending on where he's playing.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson visit goes well

Thu, 05 Mar 2015 09:48:26 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's meeting with head coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman Wednesday, March 4, went well after the parties spent more than four hours at Peterson's home. "We had a great dialogue and they were able to understand where I was coming from and concerns my family and I still have. We respect each other and hopefully the situation can pan out so that everyone involved is content," Peterson said.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's future with the Vikings is still very much in the air. Minnesota can officially trade him when the new league year starts next Tuesday. The main thing to know here is that Peterson has every intention of playing in 2015, and he'll be doing so with a chip on his shoulder. Consider him a high-end RB1 wherever he's playing, and he might even be worth the top fantasy football pick once again.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is scheduled to meet with Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer Wednesday, March 4, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen where Peterson will end up for the 2015 season, but as long as he is in somebody's backfield, he should be considered an top-level fantasy running back.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson talking to Vikes

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 09:46:35 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson, who was put back on the commissioner's exempt list last week, has had "open dialogue" with the team, according to general manager Rick Spielman. Spielman continues to say that the Vikings want Peterson to return in 2015. However, Peterson has been "uneasy" about returning. The Vikings can cut Peterson or talk to him about restructuring his contract at any time since he's back on the exempt list.

Fantasy Tip: It's a bit of a mystery as to whether Peterson will return to play in Minnesota in 2015. The important news is that he will be playing next season, and that'll make him a top-five fantasy football selection immediately. If he's traded and lands in a more favorable situation, he could easily be considered for the No. 1 overall pick.

Cardinals | Adrian Peterson to land in Arizona?

Fri, 27 Feb 2015 11:35:57 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson could be a trade option for the Arizona Cardinals with QB Carson Palmer and WR Larry Fitzgerald nearing the end of their careers in the desert. The Cardinals are built to win now, and The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers said he wouldn't be surprised if general manager Steve Keim and head coach Bruce Arians elect to pursue Peterson.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals have to be worried that Andre Ellington, who had just 3.3 yards per carry last year before being injured, won't be able to fill a full-time running back role. Peterson landing in Arizona would surely be intriguing. Regardless of where he's playing in 2015, Peterson will probably in consideration for fantasy football's No. 1 overall pick.

Colts | Indy a trade option for Adrian Peterson?

Fri, 27 Feb 2015 11:33:46 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson could be a trade target for the Indianapolis Colts. QB Andrew Luck hasn't had a successful running game behind him so far in Indianapolis. However, Colts running backs not named RB Trent Richardson averaged close to 5.0 yards per carry in the last two seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson will be a highly sought after fantasy football commodity when he returns to action in 2015, and we expect he'll be a top-five pick, if not considered for the overall selection. Going to Indy would be a fine place for him behind one of the game's best young quarterbacks.

Cowboys | Dallas an option for Adrian Peterson?

Fri, 27 Feb 2015 11:29:31 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson could be an option to be traded to the Dallas Cowboys. Peterson is from Palestine, Texas, which is between Dallas and Houston, and he's acknowledged a desire to finish his career with the Cowboys. "If a blockbuster deal opens and a team wants to give them something they can't turn down," Nelson Peterson, Adrian's father, added, "they're going to have to take a look at it."

Fantasy Tip: Peterson should be a top-five fantasy selection in 2015 when he returns to a full season of play. Landing in Dallas may be the best possible outcome, as he'd be playing behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. It'd be hard not to take him at No. 1 overall if that scenario plays out.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson on exempt list

Thu, 26 Feb 2015 14:43:58 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's suspension was overturned by U.S. District Judge David S. Doty Thursday, Feb. 26. However, the NFL also announced that they will appeal the ruling, and Peterson will return to the Commissioner's Exempt List. "Judge Doty's order did not contain any determinations concerning the fairness of the appeals process under the CBA, including the commissioner's longstanding authority to appoint a designee to act as hearing officer," the league said in a statement.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's future with the Vikings is very murky, at best, but there's a chance he could be reinstated before April 15. Peterson will be playing somewhere in 2015, it's just a question of whether he'll remain in Minnesota. If his reinstatement back into the league happens sooner rather than later, it'll only help cement his fantasy draft value as a candidate for the top overall pick in 2015.

NFL | League to appeal Adrian Peterson ruling

Thu, 26 Feb 2015 12:31:35 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's suspension being vacated by a judge is expected to be appealed by the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: There is still a good chance that Peterson will be ready to play in 2015, but owners will need to monitor the situation to see if there are any changes to his status. He should be considered a No. 1 fantasy running back and a first-round option next season if he plays.

Thu, 26 Feb 2015 09:19:30 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's suspension has been overturned after a judge granted a motion from the NFL Players Association to vacate the suspension.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson will be able to play next season, but it is not known which team he will play for in 2015. Peterson probably should be considered a No. 1 fantasy running back no matter where he plays and likely will be an option in the first round of drafts.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson's father denies report

Mon, 23 Feb 2015 15:07:25 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's father denied a report that Peterson no longer wants to play for Minnesota. Peterson's father said Peterson is still open to a return to the Vikings. Peterson himself said earlier this month that he feels uneasy about returning to Minnesota because he felt there were some people in the organization who wanted him off the field last season. It was also previously reported that Peterson's agent and members of the Vikings' front office had a heated exchange during the NFL Scouting Combine this week.

Fantasy Tip: Things seem to be going downhill between Peterson and the Vikings despite what his father says. Obviously we don't know where Peterson will be playing next season, but, when healthy, he's an RB1 option no matter what uniform he's wearing.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson's situation worsens

Mon, 23 Feb 2015 11:47:39 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's situation with the team worsened during the NFL scouting combine as his agent and members of Minnesota's front office had a heated verbal altercation, according to sources. Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, reportedly said that Peterson would never play for the Vikings again.

Fantasy Tip: The validity of Dogra's statement remains to be seen, but the prospects of Peterson returning to the Vikings aren't sounding positive at this juncture. There have been rumors that Peterson could head to Dallas if DeMarco Murray is not franchise tagged or re-signed. Keep tabs on this situation as free agency and the NFL Draft inch closer.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson has not asked for trade

Sun, 22 Feb 2015 20:50:39 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has not asked for a trade to the Dallas Cowboys and has not had any conversations with Vikings general manager Rick Spielman, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear where Peterson will be in 2015, but he is still considered a Top 20 fantasy option at his position and could be a steal on draft day if he lands in a favorable situation and remotely comes close to his old form.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson wants out

Fri, 20 Feb 2015 05:43:48 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson hasn't softened his stance, despite general manager Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer reaching out to him. Peterson wants a fresh start somewhere else. Peterson said lack of trust is a major issue in his uneasiness to return. The team has no intentions of cutting him, so a trade would be the only option.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to see this ending any other way after the team worked with the NFL to put him on the commissioner's exempt list last season. Jerick McKinnon figures to land a featured role and would be a great RB3. Peterson should make a mid-to-low RB1 wherever he lands.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson expected back by Vikes

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 09:23:37 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson continues to have the support of the team, and general manager Rick Spielman said, "We expect Adrian Peterson to be part of our football team" next season. President Mark Wilf said earlier this week that the team would welcome Peterson back with open arms. Peterson can't be reinstated until April 15, but the NFL Players Association is suing the league in federal court to expedite his return. It's unknown if Minnesota would keep Peterson on his current contract with a base salary of $12.75 million for 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson should still be seen as a top-five fantasy football running back, and when his situation is cleared with the league, he could be considered for the top overall spot again. He'll be even more determined than ever after sitting out for almost a full season.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson supported by team

Thu, 12 Feb 2015 13:31:11 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson would be welcomed back to the team, according to chief operating officer Kevin Warren. "It'd be good for us [to have Peterson back], it'd be good for all the Vikings fans, it'd be good for the NFL," Warren said.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's status is still very much in flux at this point. Assuming he returns to the Vikings and doesn't miss any games, he'll still be a viable No. 1 fantasy running back option heading into 2015 drafts.

Vikings | Vikes want Adrian Peterson back

Wed, 11 Feb 2015 15:35:22 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said he would like to return to the team, and owner and president Mark Wilf said the Vikings reciprocate that feeling. However, Peterson must comply with the NFL before doing so.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Peterson basically took a year off in 2014, he'd likely come right back and serve as an RB1 for your fantasy football squads in 2015 if he remains with the Vikings. In fact, the time off might have been the best thing to happen as far as a performance standpoint moving forward.

An NFL spokesperson declined to comment on what impact it could have on his suspension. Peterson is not eligible to apply for reinstatement until April 15. Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's reinstatement hearing will be held Friday, Feb. 6, in federal court in Minneapolis. The NFLPA filed a lawsuit in December for his immediate reinstatement, seeking to overturn a November ruling that he be suspended until at least April 15.

Vikings | NFLPA against Adrian Peterson counseling

Tue, 27 Jan 2015 16:40:20 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson was directed by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to meet with a league-assigned psychiatrist following Peterson's suspension. The National Football League Players Association is now crying foul on the commissioner's mandated counseling, arguing that Goodell did not have the power to enforce such a stipulation. The NFLPA said the terms of Peterson's suspension violate the limits of Goodell's power under the collective bargaining agreement.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's status remains unknown as far as the 2015 season is concerned. Keep tabs on any updates regarding his suspension throughout the offseason.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson wanted by Minnesota

Wed, 14 Jan 2015 21:39:57 -0800

Fantasy Tip: If and when Peterson returns, and he knocks off a little rust, he can still be a force in fantasy football. He turns 30 on March 21, and will be heading into the back nine of his career. However, he has proven detractors wrong in the past.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson wanted back by HC

Tue, 30 Dec 2014 11:23:26 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson will be wanted back by head coach Mike Zimmer when Peterson's suspension ends next year. "I think he's a good person. I think obviously he's a great running back and if it works out that way and things work out and he gets his life in order ... then I will be in his corner whenever the decision is made [to bring him back or not]. Peterson was told earlier this month that he would serve a two-game suspension next year for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Fantasy Tip: There's still a lot of watching and listening to be done this offseason with Peterson's situation, but if his two-game suspension upholds, he could still be an RB1 heading into 2015 fantasy drafts.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson expected two-game ban

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 07:30:37 -0800

Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson was told by executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent that he would serve a two-game suspension for violating the personal conduct policy, instead of missing the entire season. Peterson's camp has an audio recording of the exchange that took place six days before he was suspended for the season.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson can be dropped in all formats after his suspension was upheld. He turns 30 in March and will likely have some fantasy uncertainty in next year's drafts. He has been a machine throughout his career, and he could return with a vengeance or he could begin his inevitable decline.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson considered retirement

Sat, 13 Dec 2014 05:12:31 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said he considered retirement from the NFL because he is disappointed with the disciplinary system. "I've considered retiring from the NFL," Peterson said. "I still made $8 million dollars this year. I've thought about getting back into the real estate (business in Texas) I'm already in. That's something I've been interested in, something I'm involved in. I've thought about getting back into that. I've thought about going after the Olympics -- you only live once. It might be time for me to pursue that, as well. I love playing football, don't get me wrong, but this situation is deeper than that. For me, it's like, 'Why should I continue to be a part of an organization or a business that handles players the way they do? Making money off the field anyway, why not continue to pursue that (Olympic) dream and pursue other dreams and hang up the cleats?'"

Fantasy Tip: It seems like a long shot that Peterson would retire to pursue other interests at this point, but this will be a big story to watch as the offseason moves on.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is likely, but not certain, to be reinstated by league appeals officer Harold Henderson next week, in the opinion of columnist Peter King. The team would have to decide whether to activate him for the final three games.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson needs to be owned in most leagues, and those in the fantasy playoffs may be getting a nice gift. Keep in mind, though, the team has been working with the league to keep him off the field. There is no guarantee he suits up.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson case could go to fed court

Tue, 02 Dec 2014 03:52:36 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson could have his appeal of a suspension by the NFL end up in federal court if the National Football League Players Association is not convinced of the hearing officer's neutral status.

Fantasy Tip: As previously mentioned, this likely won't impact Peterson's fantasy value this season as he is likely out for the rest of 2014. But this situation could get messy before it gets better. Stash Peterson accordingly on your bench if you have room.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson should be owned until his appeal is heard, which is expected to occur soon.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson appeals suspension

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 08:35:42 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has officially appealed his suspension, according to a source. The NFL Players Association is looking for a neutral arbitrator to hear the case, but commissioner Roger Goodell will make the decision on who hears the case.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's status for the 2014 season is still up in the air, because there is a small chance that he returns to the field this season. Owners in deeper leagues can keep Peterson on their bench if they have the roster spot but can also cut him if they need a player at another position.
