Saints | Adrian Peterson rushes for 33 yards

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 13:41:01 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson ran nine times for 33 yards in Week 3 at Carolina and he added two receptions for four yards on his two targets.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson has looked like a shell of his former self with the Saints, but Sean Payton keeps going to him for double-digit touches per week. However, Peterson is seeing about half the touches as starter Mark Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara is coming on, too. The fantasy future of Peterson is murky at best.

Saints | Eight touches for Adrian Peterson

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:59:27 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson carries eight times for just 26 yards in Week 2 against New England.

Fantasy Tip: It's strange seeing Peterson in a reserve role, but he has managed a total of 14 touches with 44 rushing yards through two games. It's the 2017 fantasy season and so far Peterson has been a very small part of it after years of domination.

Saints | Adrian Peterson has no problem with coach

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 07:09:52 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson does not have any problems with head coach Sean Payton and the team has no plans of trading or releasing Peterson, according to sources. The team hopes to run the ball more in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson could receive some more snaps this week but is still sharing snaps with Mark Ingram. He will be facing a solid New England Patriots defense and probably should only be considered a flex option in most leagues.

Saints | Adrian Peterson wants more action

Fri, 15 Sep 2017 06:20:06 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson said he "didn't sign up for nine snaps," but he said he and head coach Sean Payton are on the same page.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson had six carries for 18 yards, but Mark Ingram had six carries for 17 yards and Alvin Kamara had seven rushes for 18 yards. The load was split up evenly, and the Saints trailed for most of the game, which will keep Peterson on the sidelines a lot. What's clear is the talk that he might be mixed into the passing game probably isn't going to happen. All three backs are matchup plays in the RB3 range.

Saints | Adrian Peterson disappoints in Saints debut

Mon, 11 Sep 2017 19:57:22 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson played only nine snaps in the club's Week 1 game Monday, Sept. 11, against the Minnesota Vikings, en route to logging just six rushes for 18 yards.

Fantasy Tip: In Peterson's defense, the Saints were trailing pretty much the whole way, which kept him on the sidelines as New Orleans was mostly passing in order to catch up. He also managed to tie Alvin Kamara for the team lead in rushing yards, but it's still an alarming usage rate for the future Hall-of-Famer. With the Patriots up next, the Saints are more likely to find themselves trailing again for the majority of the contest, making it tough to deploy Peterson as a flex option.

Saints | Tough sledding for Adrian Peterson

Sat, 26 Aug 2017 21:15:18 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson rushed six times for 15 yards in a 13-0 preseason win over the Houston Texans Saturday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: One lackluster showing in the preseason isn't cause for concern, but the state of the backfield in New Orleans is. Peterson figures to split carries with Mark Ingram to some degree and give way to Alvin Kamara on passing downs. Of course, fewer carries could translate to more production if Peterson stays healthy and fresh all season, but expecting him to be more than a RB3 is dangerous.

Saints | Adrian Peterson to sit preseason opener

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 22:03:22 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson (rest) will not play in the team's preseason opener Thursday, August 10, against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: It's pretty standard to see aging veterans not play in the first preseason game, so owners have nothing to worry about here. As has been the case all summer, Peterson should still be viewed as a top sleeper candidate, having the potential to legitimately meet an RB2 ceiling in the Saints' high-octane offense if he stays healthy.

Saints | Naysayers motivate Adrian Peterson

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 15:07:25 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson is motivated by those who doubt his age, ability, health, etc. "I'd be lying to say [the doubt] doesn't [motivate me]," Peterson said. "You want to do things people say you can't do."

Fantasy Tip: There is credence to the doubt surrounding Peterson. At 32 years old, Peterson has missed almost two full seasons in the last three years. He'll be splitting playing time with Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara to boot. Nonetheless, he is Adrian Peterson, after all. View him as a flex option in a high-scoring, high-flying offense.

Saints | Adrian Peterson eyes 500 receiving yards

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 09:06:48 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson has had more than 400 receiving yards only once in his career, but he is shooting for 500 in 2017. "I was attracted to playing with (Drew) Brees, a guy who is good at distributing the ball to different players. I know in this system, I'll get some opportunities to catch the ball in space. Drew Brees, he'll get the ball to me," Peterson said.

Fantasy Tip: Brees loves throwing to his running backs, but 500 receiving yards is a big ask in a backfield which also has Mark Ingram, Alvin Kamara and maybe even Travaris Cadet vying for touches. Peterson will be fortunate to top 1,000 total yards this season, and owners should be thrilled if he can give them roughly 750 yards rushing and 350 receiving to go along with eight to 10 touchdowns. He's on the RB2 borderline and probably should be drafted as a RB3.

Saints | Adrian Peterson to see 150 carries?

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 08:14:29 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson is likely on tap for 150 carries, according to Saints color commentator Deuce McAllister. "If he gets (about 150 carries), he'll get probably 700 to 1,000 yards," McAllister said. Peterson is keeping his weight between 215 and 219 pounds with 6 percent body fat. Peterson, who has totaled more than 400 receiving yards once, said he'd like to tally 500 receiving yards.

Fantasy Tip: It's important not to get overhyped about the 32-year-old's aspirations. He is a freak of nature, but very few backs have been this productive at his age. They also have Pro Bowler Mark Ingram and third-rounder Alvin Kamara, who projects as a Darren Sproles type. Peterson is an RB3 in fantasy that could receive a boost in this dynamic offense if everything goes right.

Saints | Adrian Peterson wants five more years

Thu, 08 Jun 2017 05:56:02 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson said he wants to play until age 37 or 38.

Fantasy Tip: The 32-year-old has drawn rave reviews at practice, and he could be a solid contributor in the tapered role he's expected to have. Mark Ingram will at least have a 50-50 split with him, and with durability a concern at AD's age, there is some risk taking him as an RB3.

Saints | Adrian Peterson dazzling at OTAs

Wed, 07 Jun 2017 20:02:59 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson has his teammates "gushing" over his burst and stride length that he's exhibited during organized team activities thus far.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's presence on an already high-powered Saints offense will be one of the more crucial storylines to watch this upcoming season, with many believing the former Minnesota Viking can no longer play at a high level. However, early reports would suggest the opposite, and with Peterson having a chip on his shoulder, it might not be surprising to see the former NFL MVP provide some useful stats for fantasy owners in 2017. Definitely monitor him in drafts.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon bigger, better in 2017?

Sat, 27 May 2017 15:03:27 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon trained with former teammate Adrian Peterson in Houston during the offseason and weighs 211 pounds, up from 200 a season ago. McKinnon is reportedly not only stronger, but faster as well. "I'm just ready to prove myself and show how much better I've got in the offseason," McKinnon said.

Fantasy Tip: The Vikings added Latavius Murray and second-round pick Dalvin Cook this spring, but McKinnon boasts enough talent to give both a run for their money. Cook and Murray will likely end up winning out as the team has invested more money in them, although it will be difficult to keep a stronger and faster McKinnon off the field. If his offseason training is as good as he thinks it was, McKinnon could force the Vikings to go with a three-man committee backfield.

Saints | Adrian Peterson remains confident

Tue, 02 May 2017 11:41:26 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson (knee) believes he has "a lot of years left" in the NFL. Peterson is 32 years old and is entering his 11th season.

Fantasy Tip: Time will tell if Peterson can play a few more years, but the odds are not in his favor. He has missed close to two full seasons the last three years because of serious knee injuries. Peterson has proven he can bounce back from such a hindrance, though; he did in 2015. Don't count out Peterson just yet, but don't draft him as an RB1 either. With Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara in the mix, Peterson is more of an RB3 or flex option in standard leagues.

Saints | Saints using 'three-headed monster' at RB?

Mon, 01 May 2017 19:30:44 -0700

The New Orleans Saints' plan for the upcoming season is "likely to recreate their 2009 and 2011 potent backfield attack" when they implemented a "three-headed monster" at running back. This came to fruition when they drafted RB Alvin Kamara, who is a "prototypical third-down back" to complement RBs Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson. Kamara could be in line to play a "Reggie Bush/Darren Sproles-type role."

Fantasy Tip: This could be a frustrating storyline for those who end up drafting Mark Ingram, seeing as he's proven he can be a productive workhorse back when he is healthy. At the same time, this development also indicates Peterson could turn out to be an excellent value pick if he's getting a good amount of work around the goal line. As for Kamara, owners might want to take a wait-and-see approach with the third-round pick.

Saints | Travaris Cadet to see reduced role?

Sun, 30 Apr 2017 19:27:02 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Travaris Cadet will compete with RB Alvin Kamara for the third-down back role while RB Adrian Peterson and RB Mark Ingram serve as the traditional backs, according to beat writer Nick Underhill.

Fantasy Tip: After the Saints traded up for Kamara, he is going to be given a chance to show what he can do. Cadet's value was already limited to deeper PPR formats, and the addition of Kamara likely makes him a non-factor for fantasy purposes.

Saints | Adrian Peterson will have clear role

Tue, 25 Apr 2017 15:36:11 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson will blend well with fellow RB Mark Ingram and will have a clear role in the Saints' offense, according to head coach Sean Payton.

Fantasy Tip: That role remains unclear for now, but we are in the beginning stages of the offseason. Peterson has plenty of time to get used to his new offense and the like. The likeliest scenario is that Peterson will serve as more of a ground-and-pound back, while Ingram plays more of a pass-catching role (96 catches the last two years). Ingram does have the most fantasy appeal of the two, but his value clearly takes a hit with Peterson there. That said, view Ingram as an RB2 and Peterson as an RB3.

Saints | Adrian Peterson terms

Tue, 25 Apr 2017 05:41:21 -0700

Updating an earlier report, New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson landed a two-year, $7 million deal. He's guaranteed $3.5 million in 2017, which includes a $1 million salary and a $2.5 million signing bonus. The 2018 compensation is $3.5 million, and none of which is guaranteed. It includes $2.4 million in total roster bonuses (which includes a $750,000 roster bonus earned on third day of free agency plus $1.65 million in per-game roster bonuses), a $1.05 million salary and a $50,000 workout bonus.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson will be the 1B fiddle to Mark Ingram, and neither back should be valued higher than an RB2 if both backs remain healthy. Peterson falls into the RB3 range because he doesn't catch many passes and is 32 years old.

Saints | Adrian Peterson joining Saints

Tue, 25 Apr 2017 05:12:40 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) has agreed to an undisclosed deal with the New Orleans Saints Tuesday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson isn't expected to be the lead back with Mark Ingram expected to serve in that role. However, Peterson's presence will hurt Ingram's fantasy prowess as no more than an RB2. As for AD, he's little more than an RB3 in this situation. Both backs have a lengthy injury history of late, and if one went down, the other would benefit in a big way.

Saints | Mark Ingram will be the starter

Mon, 24 Apr 2017 13:56:44 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram would still be the lead running back even if free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) signed with the Saints, according to The New Orleans Advocate's Nick Underhill.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram's stock would take a hit, but he will remain the Saints' most appealing fantasy running back if the Peterson signing does come to fruition. As stated earlier, Ingram and Peterson should be viewed as an RB2 and RB3, respectively, if they are both healthy and if Peterson signs.

Saints | Adrian Peterson nearing deal with Saints

Mon, 24 Apr 2017 12:41:50 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) is coming close to a deal with the New Orleans Saints that would pay him $3 million this year, according to sources. The deal is not done, but it is looking optimistic.

Fantasy Tip: This move would definitely put a damper on Mark Ingram's fantasy value. Ingram has RB1 upside, but the addition of Peterson would put him into RB2 territory at least, although, Ingram could be used in more of a pass-catching role in this case. He has shown receiving prowess in previous seasons (96 catches the last two seasons). As for Peterson, he would be no more than an RB3 candidate at 32 years old and after missing nearly two full seasons in the last three years.

Giants | NYG still interested in veteran running backs

Sun, 23 Apr 2017 06:49:40 -0700

The New York Giants are one of several teams continuing to keep close tabs on free-agent RBs LeGarrette Blount (Patriots) and Adrian Peterson (Vikings), in the hopes that their salary demands will go down prior to the draft.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Blount nor Peterson should be viewed as prominent RB1 options in most fantasy formats. Blount is 30 and unlikely to duplicate his 18-touchdown performance from last season regardless of where he lands, while Peterson is 32 and has sustained multiple major knee injuries over the last three years.

Saints | 'Door open' for Adrian Peterson in Big Easy

Fri, 14 Apr 2017 10:59:03 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) reportedly had a good visit with the New Orleans Saints earlier this week. Although he left without a deal, the door isn't closed on something happening down the line, according to the New Orleans Advocate's Nick Underhill.

Fantasy Tip: Underhill reports it is unclear whether the two sides talked money and warns Peterson may have to accept the same $3.7 million Mark Ingram is set to make in 2017 in order to sign in New Orleans. Furthermore, Underhill believes Peterson would begin the season as Ingram's backup. Look for AP's market to pick up a bit after the draft is over at the end of this month, but it is becoming increasingly likely his days of being a fantasy force are over.

NFL | No Adrian Peterson deal before draft

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 10:25:07 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) is not expected to sign with anyone before the NFL draft. Prospective teams will continue to monitor his status, however.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to sign a 32-year-old running back who has practically missed two full seasons over the last three years. The upcoming running back draft class is stellar, too, which indubitably plays a factor in teams' interest in Peterson. Even if/when he signs, he'll be part of a committee. His days of being a prominent RB1 are likely gone.

NFL | Adrian Peterson looks explosive

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 07:39:57 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) impressed the New England Patriots, appearing fast and explosive in a recent workout. The New Orleans Saints could seek to sign him before the NFL draft if the financials can be worked out.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson is at an advanced age for the position, and he hasn't been much of a receiver. Both of these really limit his fantasy value to the tail end of the RB2 range.

Saints | Adrian Peterson meets with NO

Tue, 11 Apr 2017 23:01:00 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) met with the New Orleans Saints Tuesday, April 11. Although he did not sign a deal the visit went well, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, and the two sides will keep in touch.

Fantasy Tip: At this point it seems unlikely Peterson will find a home before the NFL Draft where teams will get a better feel for what their 2017 roster will look like. Obviously a backfield pairing with Drew Brees would be intriguing, but until AD signs somewhere on the dotted line it's all speculation.

Patriots | Adrian Peterson worked out for NE

Sun, 09 Apr 2017 16:02:06 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) participated in a workout during his visit with the New England Patriots Monday, April 3.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson has received interest from a few teams this offseason but has not signed a deal yet. He may not be able to handle a full workload like he did in the past but should receive a solid amount of carries for his new team. He likely would receive most of the carries if he signed with the Patriots and could be a No. 2 fantasy running back.

Saints | Adrian Peterson will visit Saints

Thu, 06 Apr 2017 12:19:57 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) will meet with the New Orleans Saints next week.

Fantasy Tip: This would certainly be an interesting addition to the Saints with Mark Ingram at the head of the running back group. Ingram and Peterson would indubitably form the head of a committee. This could just be another visit that fizzles, though, so keep even keel with both running backs' fantasy value.

Patriots | Adrian Peterson leaves without deal

Mon, 03 Apr 2017 13:12:06 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) left his visit with the New England Patriots without a deal Monday, April 3, according to sources. He could revisit at a later time, however.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, it's tough to gauge Peterson's fantasy value until he signs with a team, but he will likely be part of a committee. For possibly the first time in his career, he should not be viewed as an RB1.

NFL | Multiple teams eyeing Adrian Peterson

Mon, 03 Apr 2017 11:13:14 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) has drawn interest from three to five teams, according to a source. Peterson does not have a set number for a possible contract and he has not turned down any offers.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson is easily the biggest name left on the free-agent market. His injury history and age are keeping teams away, but not all the gas has been expended. That being said, he will likely be part of a committee if/when he is signed, so don't expect him to reach RB1 status again. His value can be better gauged once we know where he'll be playing.

Patriots | Adrian Peterson to meet with Patriots

Sun, 02 Apr 2017 14:58:08 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) is scheduled to meet with the New England Patriots Monday, April 3, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots have not re-signed LeGarrette Blount at this point, so Peterson is an option to handle that role if he decides to sign with the Patriots. He likely would receive most of the carries but would not have a big role in the passing game. Peterson could be a No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues if he joins New England.

Buccaneers | Adrian Peterson not in Tampa Bay's plans

Sat, 01 Apr 2017 08:38:25 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) is almost certain not to end up signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud. At minimum, Tampa Bay appears willing to wait to let a running back-laden draft play out before they make a decision on Doug Martin, according to Stroud.

Fantasy Tip: Speculation had increased recently Peterson was generating interest from the Buccaneers after he was spotted working out with Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston. It makes sense why the team is passing at the moment, especially if recent reports about the 32-year-old Peterson asking for $8 million per year were true. With AP's market cold, he's likely going to need to accept a much lower salary than he wants and hope for a training camp injury to a running back in order to find a job in 2017.

Thu, 30 Mar 2017 07:24:29 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) was pictured working out with Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston Tuesday, March 28.

Fantasy Tip: The Bucs have an opening with Doug Martin suspended for the first three games. Peterson is a high-end RB2 option in the right system, and Tampa would be a good one to feature him.

Lions | Detroit GM quiet about Adrian Peterson

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 17:40:28 -0700

Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn would not say if the team is pursuing free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) but does believe Peterson can still play.

Fantasy Tip: The Lions have been using a committee at running back but do not have a running back like Peterson on their roster. He likely would receive most of the carries if he signs with the Lions but may not see much work in the passing game. Peterson could be a low-end No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues if he joins the Lions.

NFL | Adrian Peterson willing to wait

Sat, 25 Mar 2017 06:04:07 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) said he is willing to wait to sign with a team because he is looking for the best fit for him and a chance to win the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson has not met with any teams at this point and has not been linked with a lot of teams, so owners will need to continue to monitor the situation. It is not known what role he will have with his new team, but he could be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 running back if he receives most of the carries.

NFL | Adrian Peterson asked for $8 million?

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 11:42:02 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) reportedly wanted more than $8 million in the first year of any contract he signed during the initial wave of free agency.

Fantasy Tip: If true, this report explains the main reason AP is still unemployed. Eddie Lacy landed a one-year deal worth $5.5 million and Latavius Murray's three-year contract averages out to $5 million per year, and both are considerably younger and more useful in the passing game than Peterson. With a draft class heavy in talent at his position, the 32-year-old will likely need to cut his asking price in half to get a bite in free agency.

Packers | GB passing on Adrian Peterson?

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 09:34:58 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) was reportedly close to making a visit with the Green Bay Packers before they decided his initial asking price was too high, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Fantasy Tip: It's too bad, as Peterson would have been a nice fit as a powerful, early-down thumper for a Packers' attack who needs the element in their offense. Look for Green Bay to turn its attention to backs like Oklahoma's Samaje Perine and BYU's Jamaal Williams next month in the 2017 NFL Draft in order to fill the void. Peterson will almost certainly need the lower his asking price in order to get a job before training camp.

Packers | Adrian Peterson may visit Green Bay?

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 19:22:20 -0700

The Green Bay Packers have "some" interest in a visit with free-agent WR Adrian Peterson (Vikings), but it is believed that might not happen until after the team can take stock of its roster following the draft, according to ESPN's Ben Goessling.

Fantasy Tip: All things considered, Green Bay may actually be Peterson's best landing spot. The Oakland Raiders seem more inclined to pursue Marshawn Lynch, while the New York Giants run a more shotgun-heavy, one-back offense that has never been a good fit for him. With such a talented incoming draft class at his position, Peterson could easily be waiting for a training camp injury before he signs with a team.

Raiders | Oakland WR recruiting Adrian Peterson

Sat, 18 Mar 2017 19:26:43 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Cordarrelle Patterson has been trying to recruit free-agent RB Adrian Peterson via Twitter, telling Peterson to "join the dark side."

Fantasy Tip: Patterson was teammates with Peterson in Minnesota, but as of now, there is no evidence that the Oakland front office is pursuing Peterson. Wherever Peterson plays in 2017, you can't expect him to be more than a low-end RB2.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson won't return to Vikes

Thu, 16 Mar 2017 14:18:32 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) will not be re-signed by the Minnesota Vikings, according to general manager Rick Spielman.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be a surprise since the Vikings just signed Latavius Murray. Murray figures to begin offseason activities as the starter in Minnesota, but Jerick McKinnon could give him a run for his money. Even so, expect McKinnon to split time with Murray, with Murray handling the majority of snaps. Murray should be regarded as a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 behind a suspect Vikings' offensive line.

Seahawks | Adrian Peterson leaves Seattle without deal

Mon, 13 Mar 2017 21:41:53 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) left his visit with the Seattle Seahawks without signing a contract Monday, March 13. The sense here is that the Seahawks are in the "information-gathering process," as they plan to host fellow free-agent RBs Latavius Murray (Raiders) and Jamaal Charles (Chiefs) this week as well.

Fantasy Tip: The Seahawks also had Eddie Lacy visit over the weekend, so they're really getting a look at a handful of veteran running backs. Peterson has potential to be useful in fantasy as a change-of-pace back in a lot places, but Seattle wouldn't be one of them, as they already have Thomas Rawls and C.J. Prosise lined up for a lot of work. Even so, Peterson's situation is still one to watch closely throughout the offseason.

Seahawks | Seattle waiting on Adrian Peterson?

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 10:30:40 -0800

Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent RB Adrian Peterson would like to play for the Seattle Seahawks, per Peterson's father. Sources familiar with situation say Seattle doesn't have immediate interest in signing Peterson, but waiting to see how the market plays out could lead to the Seahawks revisiting the situation.

Fantasy Tip: Wherever Peterson lands, he probably won't be better than a No. 2 running back in fantasy. Drafting him as a third is safer, but name value may inflate his stock.

Patriots | Adrian Peterson giving discount to NE?

Mon, 06 Mar 2017 18:49:52 -0800

Impending free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) said he would "consider" taking a team-friendly contract with the New England Patriots, according to a "source close to Peterson."

Fantasy Tip: Peterson is at the back-end of what has been a truly magnificent NFL career, but one thing he's still missing is a championship. Other aging players have joined the Patriots to secure their first title in the past, so it certainly wouldn't be out of the question with Peterson. If he were to land in New England and take over LeGarrette Blount's role, he could provide solid value as an RB2.

NFL | Adrian Peterson finding cool FA market

Sun, 05 Mar 2017 09:42:38 -0800

Impending free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) is reportedly talking with other teams but not drumming up much interest among league executives at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis as the NFL heads toward the start of its new league year Thursday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: Turning 32 later this month, Peterson is unlikely to get much money in free agency in part because the incoming draft class is loaded at his position. He may returning to Minnesota is his best option. If that occurs, he's going to be hard to trust as anything more than a RB2 with his recent injury history, age and the current state of the Vikings' offensive line.

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 08:28:47 -0800

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) has interest in the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: The soon-to-be 32-year-old still has RB2 value in fantasy, and Oakland has a good offensive line. That was one of the things that plagued him last year before his knee injury.

Giants | New York won't pursue Adrian Peterson

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 09:36:26 -0800

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) is not expected to be of interest to the New York Giants, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants could be set at running back with up-and-coming Paul Perkins and veteran Shane Vereen. Perkins has the most intrigue as the Giants' roster currently stands, especially after the release of Rashad Jennings. If Perkins can earn his role as New York's primary running back, he has RB3 to RB2 upside in 2017.

Giants | NYG will look at Adrian Peterson

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 12:06:28 -0800

New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo said the team will look at free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) when they evaluate available players. "We'll go take a look at him, we'll evaluate him, we'll get a grade on anyone who's available and we'll make those decisions in terms of what's best for the Giants moving forward," McAdoo said.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson probably would share work with Paul Perkins if he signs with the Giants but could receive a majority of carries in that situation. He should have a solid offensive role wherever he plays in 2017 and can be a low-end No. 1 or No. 2 fantasy running back depending on his role.

Buccaneers | Adrian Peterson not priority for TB

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 11:07:14 -0800

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not expected to aggressively pursue free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) at this time, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Buccaneers still have Doug Martin on the roster and are interested in re-signing Jacquizz Rodgers, so it appears they are not looking at Peterson at this point. Peterson can be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 running back depending on his team, while Rodgers could be a No. 2 or No. 3 back if he returns to the Bucs.
