Braves | Fredi Gonzalez on the hot seat?

Wed, 04 May 2016 10:57:51 -0700

Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez's job status is being internally discussed, according to a source. The Braves opened the year 0-9 and have the worst record in the majors at 7-19. The team considered firing Gonzalez last season, but they extended him through 2016 after their 42-42 start. Former San Diego Padres manager Bud Black is considered the favorite if the team fires Gonzalez.

Braves | Mike Foltynewicz could start or relieve

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 00:23:24 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz (illness) could return to the starting rotation or pitch in relief when he comes back to the lineup. Manager Fredi Gonzalez has not made the decision as of yet.

Fantasy Tip: Foltynewicz ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) loses his FantasyScore value if he pitches as a reliever, and in other leagues he could be effectively shelved for the rest of the year. If he starts, remember the Braves' struggles and only use him in key matchup situations.

Walden has allowed five earned runs in 2 2/3 innings since he returned. He was scheduled to throw a bullpen session Thursday, Sept. 26, and could pitch an inning or two in an instructional league before the team decides on the roster.
