New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (stomach) left the game against the Friday, Sept. 4, due to an upset stomach. OF Brett Gardner moved over from left field to replace him in center field, while OF Chris Young entered the game to play left field.

Yankees | Chris Young batting second vs. Red Sox

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 12:56:19 -0700

New York Yankees OF Chris Young is starting in left field and batting second against Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez Monday, Aug. 31. OF Brett Gardner is not in the starting lineup Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Gardner ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday. The veteran is struggling mightily, too, with a disappointing .200/.298/.250 slash line in August. Young ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is a lefty specialist and owns a .331/.389/.619 line against southpaws for the season. He is a strong FantasyScore play Monday.

Yankees | Brett Gardner has gone ice cold in August

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 14:46:17 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner is batting just .193 in August.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has only seven runs, a double, a home run and seven RBI for the month, too. His decline really started in July, though, as he owns a .224/.344/.299 slash line over 45 games since the beginning of July. The juice currently isn't worth the squeeze at FantasyScore, and seasonal owners shouldn't be against benching Gardner while he is struggling.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury out with hip issue

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 08:18:56 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (hip) is out of the lineup with hip soreness Wednesday, Aug. 26. The team isn't viewing it as a major issue yet. OF Brett Gardner is hitting leadoff in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Gardy ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) faces Collin McHugh today, but he's hitting just .203 this month and .136 over the last week. He might not be the best option on FantasyScore at this midrange price.

Yankees | Brett Gardner out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 12:49:14 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 25, against the Houston Astros. The Yankees have OF Chris Young starting in left and batting second against Astros SP Dallas Keuchel.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has a .160 mark in the past week and has no hits in four at-bats against Keuchel. He does hit .288 against lefties, but three-fourths of his at-bats are against the right so this is the likely reason for his absence. Young ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) bats .353 against Keuchel so he is worth the gamble.

Yankees | Brett Gardner reaches 200 steals

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 14:58:57 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner picked up his 200th career stolen base Sunday, Aug. 23, in a 4-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) is one of six Yankees to have 200 career steals, but his batting average has slumped in the last couple of weeks. Gardner has a .200 average in his last 25 at-bats. At the current price Gardner has, it's a little too high to invest in him for your FantasyScore lineup.

Yankees | Brett Gardner hitless in six at-bats

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 22:07:46 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner was hitless in six at-bats with a walk and three strikeouts Tuesday, Aug. 11, in a 16-inning loss against the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is in a freefall, hitting just .114 (4-for-35) over the past 10 games to drop his average from .297 to .281 just since July 28. Avoid him in FantasyScore until he starts to show signs of life at the plate again. Right now he looks completely lost, as he has whiffed 12 times over the past nine games.

Yankees | Brett Gardner out of the lineup

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 08:17:54 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP David Price Saturday, Aug. 8. OF Chris Young will start in left field and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) probably is sitting out because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is hitting .353 with seven home runs and 19 RBI against left-handed pitchers but may be a risky option against Price.

Yankees | Brett Gardner not starting Tuesday

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 12:56:30 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 4, against the Boston Red Sox. OF Chris Young is in left field.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) carries a .263 average and two home runs against left-handed pitching, and the Red Sox have Henry Owens on the hill on Tuesday. Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is a solid cheaper play thanks to his .363-7-19 line against the left.

Yankees | Trio of lefties out for Yanks

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 16:37:35 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner, C Brian McCann and 2B Stephen Drew are all out of the lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Friday, July 31. OF Chris Young is starting in right field and hitting second, C J.R. Murphy is behind the plate and hitting seventh and SS Brendan Ryan is at second base and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: The only one worth considering at FantasyScore is really Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap), who excels against lefties. He's in a prime lineup spot to capitalize and return great profit for his daily owners, too. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) and Ryan ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) are strictly desperation sources of salary cap relief.
