|Yankees | NYY still interested in Starlin Castro|
Sat, 21 Nov 2015 11:29:15 -0800
Updating a previous report, the New York Yankees remain interested in Chicago Cubs 2B Starlin Castro but are not willing to part with him for OF Brett Gardner, according to a source with knowledge of the organization's thinking.
Fantasy Tip: If the Yankees trade Gardner, it would likely be as part of a package for starting pitching help. Castro hit .265 with 11 home runs and 69 RBIs in 151 regular-season games in 2015 and is being shopped by the Cubs to multiple teams this offseason, including New York. If the Yankees stand pat at second base, Dustin Ackley and Rob Refsnyder would platoon at the position in 2016 but would only be worth drafting in AL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues.

|MLB | Yanks-Cubs talking trade|
Fri, 20 Nov 2015 09:49:27 -0800
The New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs are discussing a potential deal that would send OF Brett Gardner to the Cubs in exchange for 2B Starlin Castro, according to a source. The Cubs are in desperate need of a center fielder with free-agent OF Dexter Fowler (Cubs) expected to leave in free agency. The Yankees are in need of a second baseman, and Castro made the move from shortstop to second in August.
Fantasy Tip: This is a potential trade that would likely benefit both parties involved and make their fantasy values more intriguing for the 2016 season. Castro, especially, would be in the clear for guaranteed playing time in the Bronx. Stay tuned.

|Indians | CLE interested in Brett Gardner|
Thu, 19 Nov 2015 17:50:16 -0800
Fantasy Tip: It's likely that the Yankees are looking for starting pitching in return for any package involving Gardner, who has seen an uptick in power over the last few seasons while experiencing a decline in the stolen base department. He hit .259 with 16 home runs, 66 RBIs and 20 steals in 151 regular-season games in 2015. His days of stealing 40+ bases appear to be over, so owners shouldn't draft Gardner next year expecting him to swipe a ton of bags regardless of where he's playing.

|Mariners | Seattle wants athletic OF|
Wed, 11 Nov 2015 10:13:33 -0800
The Seattle Mariners may be inclined to trade for the likes of New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner, St. Louis Cardinals OFs Jon Jay or Peter Bourjos, Texas Rangers OF Leonys Martin or Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. rather than sign impending free-agent OFs Dexter Fowler (Cubs), Austin Jackson (Cubs) or Denard Span (Nationals).
Fantasy Tip: Gardner is likely Seattle's top trade target and is the biggest fantasy name of the bunch. A move to pitcher-friendly Safeco Field would turn many off to Gardner, but that could make him a better value pick in 2016 fantasy drafts for his speed.

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 06:09:28 -0800

|Yankees | Brett Gardner plagued by wrist|
Wed, 04 Nov 2015 09:19:49 -0800
New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (wrist) played most of the season with a wrist injury, according to hitting coach Alan Cockrell. Gardner hit just .203 after Aug. 1. He was hit by a pitch on the right wrist April 13, and that's the incident that the injury possibly stemmed from.
Fantasy Tip: Gardner will likely be an upper-echelon outfielder next season, but he's 32 years old and four years removed from his 49-steal season. He has swiped 24, 21 and 20 bags, respectively the last three years, but his power has been up the last two. Just don't overvalue him in drafts thinking you're getting an elite SB threat.

|Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury out for wild-card game|
Tue, 06 Oct 2015 13:20:22 -0700
New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is not starting the American League wild-card game Tuesday, Oct. 6, against the Houston Astros. OF Chris Young is in his place. Two fellow lefties, OF Brett Gardner and C Brian McCann, are in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has a .253-2-11 line against lefties, which isn't much worse than his luck against right-handers. Young ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) hits .300 against Astros SP Dallas Keuchel with two doubles and a triple, so he may have some more luck.

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 12:56:37 -0700

|Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury not playing|
Sat, 03 Oct 2015 08:01:46 -0700
New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, Oct. 3. OF Chris Young will start in left field against SP Wei-Yin Chen and is batting fourth in the lineup, while OF Brett Gardner will start in center field.
Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) likely is out of the lineup because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Young ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has five hits and one RBI over his last five games and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.
