Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez might be on the trade market this offseason, but new general manager Jeff Bridich is still unsure if the team will move forward and sell either one of them. "They're marquee guys," Bridich said. "It's the best shortstop in the game when healthy, and it's arguably the best left fielder in the game when healthy. The recognition of that type of talent makes it tough to swallow the pill of wanting to trade these guys." Gonzalez is owed $53 million over the next three years, and Tulowitzki is guaranteed $118 million through 2020.

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (knee) had knee surgery Tuesday, Aug. 19, and he might not be ready for the start of spring training. While the surgery was successful, head athletic trainer Keith Dugger said it's too early to tell if Gonzalez will be ready for the spring. "We really don't know how he's going to be until that 4 1/2- to 5-month mark," Dugger said. "He might be a little delayed in spring training. But our goal is to get him there and get him ready."

Updating a previous item, Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (knee) will undergo surgery to repair the patella tendon in his left knee and is out for the 2014 season.

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (knee, ankle) is unlikely to play again this season after playing in only 70 games. His MRI exam revealed more damage Wednesday, Aug. 13, so he will now visit with the team's training staff to decide on a treatment plan. Head trainer Keith Dugger said the team is exploring options including surgery, platelet-rich plasma injections or stem-cell therapy. The only chance Gonzalez can return this year is if it's determined that rest and rehab can get him back on the field, which is unlikely.
Fantasy Tip: A team can't succeed when its top two players can't stay on the field. Car-Go and Troy Tulowitzki are both likely out for the season now. It's not a foregone conclusion that Gonzalez will miss the rest of the year, but there's a very small chance we'll see him again. You can probably cut him in all leagues. Depending on the timetable for Michael Cuddyer, Drew Stubbs will continue to have short-term value in deep mixed leagues.

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (knee) has slightly increased damage to his patella tendon. Gonzalez, club officials and doctors will consult Thursday, Aug. 14.
Fantasy Tip: The team already lost Troy Tulowitzki for the season, and with the team well out of contention it is unlikely we see Gonzalez again this season as well. Fantasy owners in re-draft leagues will want to hang onto him for now, but if he is deemed out for the season, there would be no sense keeping him rostered.
