Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez is being rested Wednesday, April 23. He has gone 6-for-39 (.154) in the last 10 games, and he is 4-for-44 against San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain in his career.

Fantasy Tip: Left knee tendonitis that flared up for CarGo on Sunday is probably another thing that factored into the decision to rest him today. After an off day tomorrow, we fully expect Gonzalez to return to the lineup Friday.

Fantasy Tip: With the injury-prone Gonzalez, any injury will be concerning to his owners. However, this ailment appears to only be a day-to-day thing for the time being.

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez said he'll try to avoid more finger injuries this year by holding the bat about a half inch higher to reposition his pinkie, and he'll also use less tape and pine tar on his bat. Gonzalez has also gained back the weight he lost after having an appendectomy.

Colorado Rockies manager Walt Weiss said the plan is still for OF Carlos Gonzalez to play center field this season, but he could change his mind. Whatever decision that is made will be final. "We have options, and it's smart for the manager to know he can count on his players," Gonzalez said. "I'm ready to play center field or left field, wherever they need me. When they traded Dexter to Houston, that was their best option. But now we have more depth, plus Drew Stubbs, who is a pure center fielder. It's good."

Colorado Rockies manager Walt Weiss said Monday, Feb. 17, that OF Carlos Gonzalez could remain in left field after the team acquired OF Drew Stubbs, who is a center fielder by trade. For now, Gonzalez is in center field, but Weiss said he reserves the right to change his mind. He said Gonzalez will not go back and forth. "We've got him in center right now. That's the plan. We have a lot of options in the outfield. We have a lot of flexibility. We have a lot of good players competing out there. We have a lot of options in center field. I understand that," Weiss said.
