Giants | Gregor Blanco leading off

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 16:45:06 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco is hitting leadoff against New York Mets left-handed SP Jon Niese Monday, July 6. As a result, OF Angel Pagan was dropped to fifth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) would typically be a great value play while hitting leadoff, but he's facing a left-hander tonight, which makes him a big risk. He's slashing .240/.296/.320 with no home runs and just two RBI against southpaws this year. Pagan ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is even riskier further down the lineup despite a .378/.416/.402 line against lefties in 2015.

Giants | Justin Maxwell out of Sunday lineup

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 14:12:33 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Justin Maxwell is not starting Sunday, July 5, against the Washington Nationals. OF Gregor Blanco is playing instead.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) looks like he's getting a regular night off because of Blanco's hot bat. Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has a .444 average and a .333 mark against right-handed pitchers, and the Nationals have Jordan Zimmermann going Sunday. Give Blanco a try in FantasyScore.

Giants | Angel Pagan sitting vs. Nationals

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 06:26:23 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is not in the starting lineup Saturday, July 4. OF Gregor Blanco is playing center field and batting first against Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg Saturday.

Fantasy Tip: Over his past 21 games, Pagan ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is batting just .205 with a .491 OPS. It is likely just a routine day off, but seeing as he would have to face Strasburg, Pagan wasn't a viable FantasyScore option anyway. Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a desperation source of cap relief, either.

Giants | Gregor Blanco homers in loss

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 16:34:38 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco homered Thursday, July 2, against the Miami Marlins.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) hadn't hit a home run since May 16, but he's been able to contribute via a high batting average and scoring runs. Blanco can be considered whenever he starts against a right-handed pitcher.

Giants | Angel Pagan resting

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 08:33:34 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is out of the lineup Thursday, July 2, with OF Gregor Blanco in his place at leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is having a nice season with a .314-1-15 clip, but he draws Jose Fernandez in his season debut. The upside isn't there, but the price and spot in the lineup is right if you need a low-priced outfield option on FantasyScore.

Giants | Gregor Blanco in left field Saturday

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 12:48:32 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco is starting in left field and batting eighth against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, Sept. 27. OF/1B Brandon Belt is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is hitting .368 over the last seven days and is batting .352 at home this season. He is worth considering in FantasyScore as a low-cost outfield option. Belt ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has had a June he'd like to forget, batting just .195 with two homers and 10 RBIs.

Giants | Nori Aoki scratched late

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 18:19:36 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (undisclosed) was scratched from the lineup Tuesday, June 23, in advance of the game against the San Diego Padres. Aoki had missed time with a leg injury, but it's unclear if that's the cause of Tuesday's problem. OF Gregor Blanco will start in left field and lead off, OF Justin Maxwell will play right field and bat eighth against RHP Odrisamer Despaigne.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will be a strong option due to his .345 on-base percentage, and his .299 batting average against right-handed pitchers. Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) hits just .222 against righties, and he should be avoided.

Giants | Gregor Blanco back in lineup

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 16:44:46 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco (concussion) is activated off the 7-day disabled list and in the lineup Friday, June 19, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should be avoided for the first day or two until he is back to full strength.

Giants | Gregor Blanco may return Friday

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 23:55:42 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco (concussion) may see action Friday, June 19, following a return from the seven-day DL due to concussion issues. It was originally thought Blanco might be back Thursday, June 18.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) may be best left on your bench until all of the concussion after-effects cease. It may take him a little time to get his batting groove back, but his value will rise against right-handed pitching.

Giants | Gregor Blanco could return Thursday

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 17:52:33 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco (concussion) could be activated from the disabled list Thursday, June 18, if he does well during pregame activities Wednesday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has been sidelined since June 7, but he was receiving every day playing time up to that point. Blanco's value on FantasyScore comes strictly against right-handed pitchers, but he'll also be worth an add in deeper mixed leagues due to his abilities on the base paths.
