Giants | Gregor Blanco in left field Saturday

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 12:48:32 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco is starting in left field and batting eighth against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, Sept. 27. OF/1B Brandon Belt is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is hitting .368 over the last seven days and is batting .352 at home this season. He is worth considering in FantasyScore as a low-cost outfield option. Belt ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has had a June he'd like to forget, batting just .195 with two homers and 10 RBIs.

Giants | Nori Aoki scratched late

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 18:19:36 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (undisclosed) was scratched from the lineup Tuesday, June 23, in advance of the game against the San Diego Padres. Aoki had missed time with a leg injury, but it's unclear if that's the cause of Tuesday's problem. OF Gregor Blanco will start in left field and lead off, OF Justin Maxwell will play right field and bat eighth against RHP Odrisamer Despaigne.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will be a strong option due to his .345 on-base percentage, and his .299 batting average against right-handed pitchers. Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) hits just .222 against righties, and he should be avoided.

Giants | Gregor Blanco may return Friday

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 23:55:42 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco (concussion) may see action Friday, June 19, following a return from the seven-day DL due to concussion issues. It was originally thought Blanco might be back Thursday, June 18.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) may be best left on your bench until all of the concussion after-effects cease. It may take him a little time to get his batting groove back, but his value will rise against right-handed pitching.

Giants | Gregor Blanco could return Thursday

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 17:52:33 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco (concussion) could be activated from the disabled list Thursday, June 18, if he does well during pregame activities Wednesday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has been sidelined since June 7, but he was receiving every day playing time up to that point. Blanco's value on FantasyScore comes strictly against right-handed pitchers, but he'll also be worth an add in deeper mixed leagues due to his abilities on the base paths.

Giants | Gregor Blanco placed on concussion DL

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 18:57:20 -0700

The San Francisco Giants placed OF Gregor Blanco (concussion) on the 7-day concussion disabled list Wednesday, June 10. The team recalled OF Jarrett Parker from Triple-A Sacramento to take his roster spot.

Fantasy Tip: With Blanco sidelined at least a week and Hunter Pence on the shelf, Parker could be a nice short-term speculative pick in NL-only standard fantasy leagues. Parker also could be a decent low-end play in FantasyScore if he gets regular time.

Giants | Justin Maxwell getting the start

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 15:41:50 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Justin Maxwell will start Tuesday, June 9, against the New York Mets. OF Gregor Blanco (undisclosed) was a late scratch.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) will get the call against RHP Noah Syndergaard, and he's likely to hit somewhere near the bottom of the order as Blanco was slotted for the eighth spot. Maxwell is hitting .247 against righties, with four home runs in 94 plate appearances, but he shouldn't be considered as anything more than a cheap flier.

Giants | Hunter Pence remains out

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 08:09:49 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Hunter Pence (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Sunday, June 7. OF Gregor Blanco will be the starting right fielder and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Pence ($4,700, 9.8% of cap) should be considered day-to-day until there is an update on his status. Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is batting .283 this season and has at least one hit in each of his last three games. Owners on FantasyScore could Blanco as a cheaper option if they want to save some money.

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 11:20:06 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco will start against the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday, June 6. He will bat eighth and play right field in place of OF Hunter Pence (wrist).

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is batting .284 for the season but over the last four weeks, he is hitting .385 with a home run and six RBIs in 57 at-bats. He's worth considering in FantasyScore if you need an inexpensive outfielder to round out your lineup.
