Cubs | Chicago likes Carlos Gomez

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 10:36:49 -0800

The Chicago Cubs have interest in trading for Houston Astros OF Carlos Gomez, but Houston is reluctant to deal him because he could be a high impact player for them next year.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez failed to produce the numbers he had been putting up with the Milwaukee Brewers when he was traded to the 'Stros midseason last year. He hit just .242 with four home runs and 10 stolen bases in 41 games with Houston. He certainly has the potential to turn that around next year in Houston, and Gomez would be even that much more attractive with the Cubbies, especially if fantasy owners are down on him.

Astros | Carlos Gomez remains out

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 09:11:59 -0700

Houston Astros OF Carlos Gomez (intercostal) is not in the lineup for Game 2 of the division series against the Kansas City Royals Friday, Oct. 9. OF Jake Marisnick is starting in center field again and batting ninth against Royals SP Johnny Cueto.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is a fine young talent but is more useful for his defense in center field. Plus, his daily upside is limited hitting in the nine-hole against a strikeout artist in Cueto. Marisnick is a low-end outfield pick Friday on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) did manage to hit a home run earlier in the game, but if he did aggravate his injury he could be left off the roster for the divisional series against the Kansas City Royals. Even if he plays against KC, he could be a liability for FantasyScore gamers.

Astros | Carlos Gomez aggravates injury

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) cracked a solo home run in three at-bats before departing. If he can start Game 1 of the ALDS he is worth a look in FantasyScore, but this could be an injury which lingers on into the offseason.

Astros | Carlos Gomez in lineup Tuesday

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 13:30:49 -0700

Houston Astros OF Carlos Gomez (intercostal) is starting in center field and hitting sixth in the wild-card game against New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has been disappointing since his trade to the Astros, hitting .242 (36-for-149) with four home runs and 13 RBI in 41 games, and he hasn't played a full game since Sept. 12 because of injury. There's plenty of risk here as a contrarian play.
