Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) finished the game with one hit in three at-bats. Owners should monitor the situation to see if he will miss any time after being hit in the arm. Gomez is hitting .287 this season and should be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez back in lineup

Mon, 18 May 2015 10:51:27 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (head) is back in the starting lineup and hitting leadoff Monday, May 18, after being hit in the head by a fastball Sunday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) dodged a bullet and avoided a concussion after being hit yesterday, and he looks good to go today. Detroit Tigers starter Kyle Lobstein is coming off an outing which he allowed six earned runs, and he's given up at least four runs in two of his three May starts. Although Gomez has struggled against lefties in 2015 (.125/.125/125), he should be a solid option at FantasyScore Monday night.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez hopes to play Monday

Mon, 18 May 2015 09:14:29 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (head), who was hit in the head by a fastball but escaped without a concussion Sunday, May 17, is hoping to return to action Monday, May 18, but manager Craig Counsell said it's too early to tell. "You're going to be sore for a few days," Gomez said. "I feel fine. No headache and no bleeding, so everything is good."

Fantasy Tip: The Brewers might play it safe and avoid Gomez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) Monday, so you should do the same and avoid him at FantasyScore. Gerardo Parra ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is likely to fill in for Gomez if he sits out Monday, but he, too, isn't a great daily option with the Brew Crew facing a left-handed hurler Monday night.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez injured

Sun, 17 May 2015 13:06:22 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (head) was hit in the head with a pitch Sunday, May 17, and left the game. Later exams revealed Gomez had a facial contusion and no concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) could have faced a mandatory seven-day DL stint due to a concussion, but this is good news. Wait and see what the team does with Gomez before sticking him back in your lineup. The chances are he will be all right, but don't be surprised if he misses a game as a precaution.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez hit by pitch

Sun, 17 May 2015 12:37:37 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (head) was removed from the game Sunday, May 17, in the sixth inning, after taking a 96 mph fastball from New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard off the ear flap of his helmet. He was replaced by OF Gerardo Parra.

Fantasy Tip: If Gomez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is sidelined for an extended period of time, expect Parra ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) to take over as Milwaukee's regular center fielder, with Khris Davis ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) becoming the full-time left fielder. Entering play today, Parra was batting .308 with two home runs and 14 RBIs through his first 91 at-bats. Check back for more updates on Gomez's status.

Brewers | Jean Segura back in leadoff spot

Tue, 12 May 2015 13:33:53 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SS Jean Segura is back hitting in the leadoff spot against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Tuesday, May 12. OF Khris Davis is in the two-hole, and OF Carlos Gomez returns to the cleanup spot for the second straight game.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) hit his second home run of the year hitting cleanup last night, and he admitted he has more confidence at the plate in a run-producing role in the heart of the order. The Brewers could stick with this configuration for the time being, and it should enhance the value of all parties involved. Gomez, Davis ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) and Segura ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) are contrarian plays at FantasyScore tonight while facing the slumping Sale.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez moved to cleanup spot

Mon, 11 May 2015 13:14:53 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez is batting fourth against the Chicago White Sox Monday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is an elite hitter, and a move in the lineup really only shifts his counting stats around. If he sticks in the four-hole, expect substantially more RBI and fewer runs and stolen bases. Over 247 plate appearances batting fourth, Gomez has 40 runs, six home runs, 29 RBI, 15 stolen bases and a .261/.327/.405 slash line. Consider him a high-risk, high-reward option for FantasyScore contests Monday, because of his hefty price tag and modest results since returning from injury May 2 (just 6-for-26 with a .500 OPS).
